I guess it's because in those times, many large platformer heroes were based off animals, like Sonic, Crash, Spyro, Croc, Banjo and Kazooie, DK, Conker.
Since Rayman did hail from the same era I'm guessing they just thought it would be natural for Rayman to be based off a creature of some sort.

I'm not a Rabbid hater, though I don't like Rayman being attributed to the Rabbids.

I like Rabbids but, Rayman wouldn't be pleased to be compared with one.

It was long before the rabbids era when my babysitter told me this. The rabbids first came in 2006. Why would I have a babysitter on my 16th? :confus:

Real bunnies though.. aww.

I get that a lot too. When I'm playing Rayman, some people say "what the fuck is that, a rabbit? Are you four or something?"

And my reply to that is usually "Nope, I'm five."

I often heard those comparisons back in 2006, in school. GTA was the big game around that time, not CoD, and whilst people made those odd comparisons, they didn't "diss" my age or anything.
Luckily I had the 2006 R4 trailer to give them the comparison, and it helped get a few people into the series too.

I learned 2 new things in Rayman 2 while playing THE N64 emulator

(1) On The Very last section of the Fairy glade Wehere you Glide down to the bridge
Glide Right above the bridge then press the Deactivate Helicopter button Then see what happens (It might Also work on DS and maybe even Dreamcast)
(2) When you get hit be an attack, Get Zapped, Burnt,Blasted, Hook cut by Scurvy Robot Pirate, and other.
Do not move and Rayman Will Do something Different.

IT DOES WORK
Try itz.

I don't think it's done as well as some others, but it's alright.

He falls flat but does not take damage

He'll do a sort of "facepalm" animation for getting hurt.

If the above is what you speak of, then I already know of them, but since I am assuming this is your first time, it would be natural that you'd discover it.

...What's all this talk about Rayman looking like a bunny?

When I was little, I knew Rayman wasn't a bunny. I knew right from the beginning that the stuff on top of his head was hair. BTW, when I was little, I always thought his hair looked like a banana peel. XD

I've seen that vid, according to the comments, the guy did something with NullDC, a DreamCast emulator.

I wonder how people can compare Rayman with a bunny. However, I'm not blaming them for that. At the beginning, my friends thought that Rayman was some kind of a horse or something. He doesn't even look like one :boon:

What are you talking about? He looks exactly like a horse.
