We don't know specs of the next Xbox yet. Seeing modern PC specs, it is quite possible it won't be much better than 360 in CPU/RAM department (although we may be quite sure full-fledged tesselation and geometry shaders will be inside this time), so while I think it will be faster than Wii U, it's not necessary the gap will be as big as it currently is.

There are ways, but it makes the interface look stretched, so I prefer to keep it as it is.

But it might interest you to know there will be a Rayman 3 remake in full HD

Yup, though as Spanex said, it really screws up the interface:


However, if you're adamant about playing in widescreen, navigate to C:\Windows\UbiSoft and open Ubi.ini with notepad, change the line with the resolution on (eg. 1024 X 768 X 32), to your own selected resolution (in my case, 1366 x 768 x 32), then save.
Note that to save, you'll need to have the right privileges, so you may be required to turn of User Account Control before attempting this, or you will be denied the right to save the modified file.

Well that widescreen hack worked. Apart from the fact the videos are missing now, like the opening UbiSfot video and the cutscene at the start of the game are just black screens with sound now :(

I'm sorry to say it's like that with all cutscenes.

Oh well, something similar can be done with Rayman 2, and cutscenes are not screwed up because of it, feel free to try it out.

Well, the reason is obviously R2 has no FMVs, all cutscenes are rendered in real-time there.

Indeed, do you think it may be possible to get FMV's to be viewable in widescreen for Rayman 3?

Not without modifying code that we don't currently have access to. Rayman 3 HD may aid us though.

I don't know if this was posted before (and it's not really worth posting) but R3HD was shown at the Ubisoft Digital Day in November. You can barely see it but there's some small footage of it in action here: http://youtu.be/s6Unsi9lKJo?t=2m41s

Gosh, is it! And here I was, in the middle of the largest Rayman fanbase, oblivious to such a fact!
Anyways, I was hoping for more improvement than what we have seen so far, and what did they do to the DOTK green liquid?
But on the plus side, the interface hopefully won't be screwed and we'll be able to view cutscenes in widescreen!
