Rayman Origins for piano

Post by JimFetsios »

Hi there! I'm new to the forum! I would like to ask you whether anyone has or would like to transcribe those soundtracks from Rayman Origins:http://forums.ffshrine.org/f72/flac-mp3 ... ack-99753/
Anything would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Jim

Do you have any idea how long transcribing even one piece takes, especially something like the Tricky Treasure music?

Maybe I can ask my friend to do it. He's such a piano wiz, it's unbelievable. If you ask him to play the Woods of Light, what you hear is not an impression of the tune of the Woods of Light, it is not the melody of the Woods of Light, no, it's the whole damn array of instruments played by one guy on a piano at full speed. It's... it's scary.
But he could do it no problem - thing is, does he like the music enough to try? I'll ask him and get back to you later.

I'm not trying to sound arrogant, but I can do that just as well. The thing is that playing it and writing it down are two completely different things, and writing down every single note properly for songs at the complexity level of Origins would take days of sitting down, pounding in notes into a program 24/7. You can play them in, but that's prone to mistakes, plus it doesn't separate the treble and bass clef properly.

Asking someone to do this sort of thing is like asking someone "hey, can you go to France in your free time this weekend and buy me a bottle of Cannabis Vodka? It would be nice to have." And that's assuming you live in North America.

Plus it's not only arranging the different parts into music, it's putting it in a form that is playable by one person on the piano, and that requires a great deal of thinking.

He really likes composing and writing stuff down and he simply adores Rayman, loves sitting down to puzzle about music and can write things down in no time. He's organised performances and played at the 'Conservatorium' here in The Hague. Not sure if that means anything to you, but it's like the best you can get when it comes to musical learning degrees.

So he's capable - and will enjoy doing it if he feels like it - but I'll have to ask him nevertheless.

It's fun bragging about someone once in a while, if the things you say are truth, that is.

Ah, alright then. :) And yes, I know what you're talking about. Over here it's called the Royal Conservatory of Music, and it's the same general idea.

Probably. I don't think many people understand just how time consuming notating is. I've been doing it for eleven years, so I know what I'm talking about.

Oh, no, he's been playing for years and years - unless you meant the OP, of course - I don't know about him.

I've asked, but he hasn't replied yet. He said he'd see if he likes the music. Maybe I should give him the soundtrack I got with my copy so he can listen. We'll see.

Thank you very much Shrooblord! And for the others to know, it is he that proposed to ask, I didn't ask someone else apart from Shrooblord! Oh, and yes, I am still young :-) !

I mean it's surely possible, but really, I still think you're underestimating the job by quite a long shot. If he does say yes, then he's got quite a, no, a VERY lengthy job on his hands.

He was very relaxed about it; he doesn't ever do anything else but play piano (really, he neglects his homework for it and who knows what else) and he's got a lot of skills to show for it. I think he'd know quite well what he'd be putting up for and yes - I've tried doing this kind of thing myself too once - mind though that I haven't succeeded in doing it. :P

Would you reckon figuring out how to play a song exactly, with all instruments and little tweedlydinks included perfectly, simply by ear, is a harder or easier task than this? I've done Cave of Bad Dreams and the Hoodoo Theme this way.
