Can't beat the first area in Bongo Hills?

But god, love Rayman Advance, it was the first version I actually played (I played Moskito's nest on the PC version prior, that'sit).

Its not that i cant beat bongo hills i suck with a keyboard so thats why i mainly use the real system a game is on, and i can't find Rayman advance at gamestop.
I can't get a PS1 emulator to work at all.

I think it's time for a tiny celebration - I finally managed to beat Eat at Joes', which is quite an accomplishment for someone with a corrupted save game :D
Next up is Mr. Skops' Stalactites, but that will have to wait....

Plus the fact that I need to go back to Joes' to get the rest of the missing Electoons, because I was kinda speed running while waiting for something without realising I was going to win this time round. Um, yeah...

Mr. Skops' Stalactites is one of the easiest levels of the game, for me.

For a penultimate boss, Mr. Skops is a bit pathetic!

Now all that's left is to rescue the rest of the Electoons...

God, I remember how I struggled year after year with the game when I was four. I didn't had any clocks left at Moskito's Nest. Somehow I managed to complete the entire game. Now I complete it in a few days. However I haven't played the game since a year or two ago. :( Don't really know how to get into the Rayman-series again.. Any advice except Rayman Origins?

I did have a gap where I went out of Rayman for a bit, but that was prior to me discovering Rayman 3.
Perhaps try playing a Rayman game you haven't experienced before, in my case, I've yet to have played Rayman M.

If you want to get back in with some 2D Rayman (which is what I've been doing), asides from Rayman Origins, I'd definitely recommend Rayman Raving Rabbids for the Gameboy Advance - that's one of my favourite games in the series :D

Other then that, some of the Rayman 1 spin offs are good as well, probably not the Rayman Designer built in levels unless you are a pro because those a REALLY hard, but maybe Rayman Junior, Rayman by his Fans and the 60 extra levels by Ubisoft (although the later is hard to come by :P)

Rayman Designer is more recommendable to every Rayman fan and player who at least beat Rayman 1 once. I compare the official Rayman Designer's levels to the Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels' levels.

Yes, not only is the game-play really hard, but the collect all the tings gimmick is really annoying too! It's okay in 'by his fans' because a lot of the levels are either short and sweet, or spontaneously feature a super helicopter vial.

I'm assuming most of the levels featured in Rayman by His Fans were the result of part of a contest to make Rayman levels out of level layouts supplied by Ubisoft - because most of the maps have identical layouts but different game play (via the enemies, ting, platform and blocker placements in the event editor, of course).

I only played some levels of By His Fans, but I intend to play every level.

I think I've completed most of the levels - but there's still some to go (namely the more annoying ones with poorer object placement). I always love to give it a spin when I feel like a quick burst of Rayman game-play, but don't want to get tied down with a serious play of Rayman 1 (particularly now I have to be extra careful with how I use my lives)

I might also be able to get a kick out of 'Rayman's World' once we (that is, me and brother) have got it working. NT based operating systems are a pain sometimes when it comes to things like this....

I even only heard about Rayman's world, but what kinda game is it? Is it a version of Rayman Gold?

When purchasing it I got it confused with the German version of Rayman Forever, which is essentially Rayman Collector, complete with the 60 new levels. I messed up

Rayman's World is the German version of Rayman Designer, which mean you have those new levels (yeah, the really hard ones), and the mapper, without a copy of Rayman 1 to go with it. So it's less then Rayman Gold :P (unless you have that lousy musicless Focus interactive version - in which case...it's a whole lot more!)

EDIT: It's a lot better then the version of Rayman Designer that comes with Forever - with the full PC soundtrack (this means I don't have to put with a random track from the Caves of Skops as opposed to Dream Forest music, and the Picture City medley is in full instead of playing the violin track on a loop). Also, while play testing the game - I just won a level of Rayman Designer for the first time ever! I've never been able to win a single level of it in the past! This means my Rayman skills are improving....:)

I was just looking at the Mr Dark article on the Wiki, and found this image:
Image
Mr. Dark is HUGE! I mean, look at the size of his eyeball compared to Betilla's head. And that's just his eye! Either that, or Betilla is tiny. There's no mistaken perspective here - if there was, objects further away appear smaller and are actually larger, which would mean Mr Dark is even bigger. Also notice the glowing ring on Betilla's left hand from which she spawns Rayman's powers. I just thought she created the glowing ring as a process of spawning the power, but this reveals the ring may very well be a permanent feature of her hand - or at least her glove.

Also, the large open space left by Mr Dark's cape as visible just to the left of Betilla's dress suggests there isn't a lot of body underneath that cloth. It may very well be possible Mr Dark was supposed to be a small (Teensy-like) creature all along. Then again, the bodies of all things in Rayman 1 are small and round regardless of the size of the creature (there are a few exceptions like the Stonemen of course). It makes sense a small, yet villainous creature would want to appear large and intimidating by putting on a great big robe and large, pointy shoes, whereas in fact his real size is tiny. This theory doesn't explain his huge eyes though. Maybe he's some kind of fly-like creature with bulging eyes or perhaps he's wearing giant spectacles.

It exactly looks like Rayman's symbol.

But what about if Ubisoft created Mr. Dark with the appearance of complete darkness? After all he's Mr. Dark; howewer that picture looks very interesting. On that he even looks like a tiny creature, but why are his legs way far from his body then? This makes me thinking hard...

Hi, I am new to the Rayman games and want to play the series in order. What version of Rayman 1 should I play? PC would be easiest due to it being on gog.com but I hear that version has no intro and bad music. I have a PS3 and PSX Rayman is on there, is that version preferable over PC version?

The PS1 is one of the most solidified versions, so if you have it, I would recommend it.
