I remember the zipper issue being discussed on a Polish Rayman forum. The assumptions some people made were very creepy, one of the reasons I left that forum.

To be serious, I think it's merely a coincidence. If you have seen the texture itself, you'll know the texture is actually placed symetrically. A half on each side. That's why the 'zipper' exsists. Well, I think so anyway. Rayfan9876 would be the real expert here.

As you saw already, the zipper doesn't appear nearby. Only from afar when the texture quality is low.

That's about my speculation. Now let's hear those Rulez mentioned.

Do you really want to? I know I posted lots of uncanny and nightmarish things like that 3D porn movies list in the Rayman ROTD topic.

One of the assumptions was that they secretly wanted to show that Rayman finally became a man and also explains why Ly didn't appear in the game.

There is more to this one, but I really don't want to disturb you.

It is preferable for me to not comment in detail the picture in question. :P

Here's hoping, I'd hate for the US advertising to have legitimacy...

Judging from the fact he actually left the forum, I'd rather not.
But I think I do try to retain a sort of "virtuous" trait, I was labelled a Moderator of Virtue once by RayFan (I think.)

I said what? You must be high. I might have, but when was that?

Also, the cause for the zipper is in the model. It appears the modelers at some point separated the model vertically down the front and then joined it back together, which shades as a sharp "edge" when reapplying a custom smoothing group. The reason the zipper appears down low is because it curves, which just naturally makes it much more prominent due to the harsher shading of a curve.

EDIT:

Fucking hell guys, the original Mister Dark portrait arrived. I'm uploading a picture tonight.

Here we go, all nice and scanned:

(It didn't fit entirely in the scanner, so I had to scan both halves of it, then Photoshop them together. I hope it's not noticeable.)

As you can tell, he's missing a foot.

If you want to download the 600dpi (7014 x 6628) lossless PNG version, click here. Watch out, it's a 30 MB download.

When I removed the raw page from the frame, I found what looks like an incomplete guideline drawn on the back:

Great! Thanks for the explanation. I'm hope this will clear up a lot of assumptions about the "zipper". :)

That second image would be considered very rare! Hey! Why don't we have a list of super rarities on the first post yet?

AHA! I thought so. Notice how in the first image Mr. Dark doesn't seem to be holding his cape with his left hand, as he usually does, since he is now using his left hand to operate the binoculars. However, if you look closely, you could see a little finger poking out on the other end of the binoculars too, meaning he is also using his right hand. What's holding his cape up? Not his hands. The second image definately confirms it as it is not only taken from the other side, suggesting what I mentioned already, but the second hand is clearly visible in it. This opens a new realm of possibilities for me... (Ah you see because I've started drawing Mr. Dark quite a lot and have been slapping myself on the wrist, because I keep drawing his right hand as the one holding up the cape as opposed to the left one, but now that it's become clear he doesn't need his hands to hold up his cape, I no longer have a problem with myself... yeah I know - that's just my logic)

You must be so happy with that sketch. I, myself, I would find it quite neat to have an official sketch, but I rather prefer my own drawings in which I can define what angle everything is seen at myself. That said, I will upload two pictures of my version of Mr. Dark and post them on the 'Magician vs Origins Magician' thread later this week, when my dad comes back with his laptop - I need his laptop to hook up to the scanner/printer/faxmachine.

Funny, I was reminding the Mr. Dark picture yesterday. :lol:

Damn RayFan, you really lucky. The drawing is awesome. :D Many fans would kill themselves to have that mega-rare object.

@Shrewbh:
I am real happy with it. Also, I've just discovered something shockingly revolutionary about the drawing, which I will reveal when I get home. It will fuck with your mind.

@Haruka:
I don't know if "lucky" is the right word, all I did was spend every last cent of my money. But kill themselves you say? Would they mind if I stabbed them in the head with a scimitar so it isn't suicide?

@Mastah:
Thanks.

And I remember that, yes... it's all coming back to me now.

Rayfan.... THIS is why we have nice things here on the community.
Thanks for that! :winkgrin:
I would cut myself to be you right now, you own something more rare then nintendo world championships
In other words you own something more valuable then a 15,000$ game 0-0 I WORSHIP YOU
I mean of course there was only ONE in existence, but this is outstanding, not only did you spend 700 bucks to help yourself to looking at this, but your also showing the community this, which is really contributing to the topic, and hell maybe even the raywiki, good job!
