TK, I had the exact same problem even though the game ran on my computer a few years ago just fine - and a few months before that strange error happened. Search results wielded nothing and solutions by Windows didn't help. If you've really got nowhere else to turn, try my solution. However, it should be your last-resort solution after all.

No, that's why I called it a last-resort option; it's not exactly what one would call... legal. A NOCD version is basicly a crack that should allow you to play without a CD (No CD). However, what it did for me, and will hopefully also do for you, is that it simply fixed the problem I was never supposed to have in the first place.

Well I don0t think it's illegal if I have an original CD.Anyways I don't think that will solve my problems, since I have that problem when executing GXSetup, and I need to install it in order to play the game

All I'm saying is I had the same messed up Genport Initilisation I/O error and that's how I solved it. Good luck!

Not to condone piracy or anything, but I'm sure there's a GoG.com torrent around...

And did you have to install GXSetup anyways and it came with NOCD version?

I don't know why your GXSetup is failing, though. I think I did actually have that problem too once - for the life of me I can't remember how I solved it. Sorry. I think maybe I tried selecting it on the desktop and then just pressing Enter. Sometimes, for some reason, Windows likes you better when you do that than when you simply double-click it.

I don't find illegal using cracks when you own genuine software.

I own R3HH for PC but I optated to download a NOCD crack to avoid using the original discs/security copy disks/DAEMON Tools/MagicDisc.

Yeah that would have been a ridiculous solution too - though sometimes it works... I had to start up my CnC3 Worldbuilder that way. Oooh, Windows. :pfff:

R3D has everything the DC version had, except some of it's superior lighting and the Globox Village.
It is also suffers from glitches, not as badly as R2DS, but they are still there, one of the most significant being that the springy web to the 1000th lum is broken, so you'll need to use a technique getting hit by the small spiders on the skull to reach the lum.

Why would you sell one of two priceless games? They're treasures.

I’ve never understood why anyone would want to sell their games. Do you seriously think you’re never going to play them again? Are you really so strapped for cash that you have to sell your last-gen games for whatever petty amount they’re going for these days? Never understood rentals either: if it’s good enough to play, it’s good enough to own.

I only sell games that I have completed and I know I will rarely touch upon again, but I usually trade them in to move onto new pastures.
That being said, I really hated being forced to sell my PS2 games, it was heartbreaking to leave some of the good classics I had then, Rayman Revolution, Rayman 3, the Jak and Daxter games, NFS: Underground 2 and NFS: Most Wanted were amongst my favourites which I had to dearly part with.

Spiral, in Portugal it is even more common to see people selling old games due to financial problems.

I have a spare copy of RRTIT to sell, but I think I have no choice other than going to a Cash Converters and pray for a good selling.

(And yes, companies who buy used games are bitches, like GAME for example. I remember trying to sell a GBA game few days after the GBA getting officially discountinued and they were only offering 2,50€. :? Yeah right, for selling later by the triple price. I would rather prefer to give away the game to someone than getting only 2,50€.)

Though in fairness, the selling price would reduce significantly, since GAME would be getting many returns due to the GBA being an old-thing and people wanting to buy the "next big thing," so it's natural.
We once got offered less than £10 for a heap of DVD's, even though DVD's are still here (but from the look of things, they'll soon be joining the VHS tape.)
Prices of old things usually are drastically reduced.
