Re: Rayman 1
That one’s called ‘La Crevette du Cosmos’, and I’ve always thought it sounded very like the Magician’s theme. Most people here already know about Gazel’s MySpace page, which has a version that was recorded in a studio, along with a few other songs:

Yeah, I discovered that song a couple of months ago and really like itspiraldoor wrote:‘La Crevette du Cosmos’,

Likewise.
A photographer and a composer...that's probably not too bad.

Re: Rayman 1
This should interest some people here. I found an old Rayman Activity Centre website that has a previously unknown Michel Ancel interview, along with some interesting official character descriptions.

I get the feeling that there’s still a lot of interesting stuff just sitting in the archive, waiting to be found. Has anyone else had any luck lately?

Yeah, I found that last month. That's what I've been using to write my Activity Centre Articles with
For some reason, the character descriptions can't seem to make their minds up what game their for. Some describe Rayman 1, some Rayman Activity Centre and some Rayman Junior

That’s what I thought, but you did lose the link for a while there. I’m particularly interested by the descriptions of the Magician:Electoon wrote:Yeah, I found that last month. That's what I've been using to write my Activity Centre Articles with
...and Mr Dark:He is the guardian of harmony and well-being. He holds the book of knowledge and expertise. Since he is very smart, he always finds solutions and gives a helping hand to those in need. Throughout his journey, Rayman can count on his valuable advice to lead him to Mister Dark.
Personnage malfaisant, i l veut répandre le mal tout autour de lui en s'emparant de l'univers magique de Rayman. S'il y parvient, il en fera un monde terrible où règne la terreur et la dictature.
We’ve never really been told what Mr Dark and the Magician’s goals and purposes were until now. Could a French speaker look through my translations and see if they’re accurate enough for the wiki? I think I might have missed a couple of meanings here and there.A wicked character, he wants to spread evil all around him by taking over the magical world of Rayman. If he succeeds, he will make the world a dreadful place under a reign of terror and dictatorship.

Re: Rayman 1
The translation is plenty accurate, other than some funny English substitute words ("the guardian of well-being"). It is rather amusing though how the Magician's introduction is relevant to Rayman Junior, yet Mister Dark's is relevant to the original.
Re: Rayman 1
The Magician's description is clearly written for the purpose of Rayman Junior and just that. Mr. Dark on the other hand, has an all purpose description that works for all the games he's been in.
I'm still really confused as to why The Photographer is referred to and is filed as being a clown on that website
EDIT: Speaking of French translations, I'm still looking for someone to translate the English with Rayman intro for me

Hey, RayFan, remember in the thread where that RaymanPC 'blast from the past' screenshot was posted and you asked where the Antitoon picture came from in the 'O' of the picture? Guess where it popped up now?spiraldoor wrote:http://web.archive.org/web/200206080149 ... i/ami.html
PS
Nice interview, as much as mister Google can make of it. A few things are strangely translated though and unfortunately messed up the whole meaning of the response, so sadly, some people will never know what Ancel said... unless we translate.
Re: Rayman 1
I remember visiting that page back in 2001/2002. Indeed, there are interesting infos in there.spiraldoor wrote:This should interest some people here. Clown photographer? You mean that during Rayman 1 the mysterious figure was a clown? How unusual.spiraldoor wrote:This should interest some people here. Re: Rayman 1
Nah, I don't think The Photographer is a clown, I think they just messed up when they made the description
. He's just meant to be a photographer dude.
Here was the description from the website for anyone that wanted to see

I still think that the Bomber Clowns have a high resemblance to Raygirl though...

But yeah, he's definitely no clownThe clown photographer is there to record the exploits of Rayman. If he loses a life, he is returned to where he was photographed the last time.

The Magician is the guardian of harmony and well-being? The more you know.

Why does this happen every time? The amount of times I explain this I thought everyone in the world would know of her by nowShrooblord wrote: Come again?
She's Rayman's co-op partner from the SNES game.

Indeed, and that’s why he wanted to overthrow the fat, useless, absent-minded old Bubble Dreamer, who kept polluting the Glade of Dreams with his horrible nightmares and never really seemed to give a damn. The Rayman series is pretty bleak when you step back and look at the big picture.THEdragon wrote:The Magician is the guardian of harmony and well-being? The more you know.

Re: Rayman 1
Oh, that. Yeah, I did know of that, but I didn't connect the Clown to the SNES co-op sprite, I guess. There's just too many references to a 'Raygirl' out there...Electoon wrote:She's Rayman's co-op partner from the SNES game.
Re: Rayman 1
Yeah, but there's one key difference between Raygirl, and the other Raygirls out there. The rest are all fan characters ;P
(unless of course you count 'Rayman's Girlfriend' from the abandoned Rayman 4 I guess)
It's just both the clown and Raygirl share the same face, plait and hair colour - I wonder if it was a deliberate reference or not
