Re: How did you become a Rayman fan?
I became a Rayman fan in his highest success moment: The Rayman 2 era (2000).In that era he was a childish but still serious sometimes hero who loved nature and his friends. In R3 I think they ruined his personality, making him too sarcastic, serious and nervy.I like that he became childish again in RO.If Michel Ancel intended himt o be like that, why the hell did they changed him in R3?

I don’t remember Rayman saying anything sarcastic at any point in Rayman 3.TeensieKing wrote:In R3 I think they ruined his personality, making him too sarcastic, serious and nervy.

I don't think they ruined his personality at all, it almost seems like an aging thing.

Re: How did you become a Rayman fan?
I don't remember exactly when I considered myself a 'fan', but I'm guessing somewhere in the year 2000.
Re: How did you become a Rayman fan?
I think Rayman's golden era was precisely between 1999 and 2001. I guess Rayman 2: The Great Escape brought many new fans to the series.
Re: How did you become a Rayman fan?
In 2001 there was quite a large amount of students (and teachers too
) who talked of Rayman (including me, of course) at school. Despite it being 2001, I actually remember most of the talk being about Rayman 1

It's all really visible that that is very likely the case, what with all the ports and people who know him from that precise game and all.

He did.Well,I played in spanish but a translation would be: (Talking about Globox) "He's so coward he sure is hiding somewhere!"spiraldoor wrote:I don’t remember Rayman saying anything sarcastic at any point in Rayman 3.TeensieKing wrote:In R3 I think they ruined his personality, making him too sarcastic, serious and nervy.
He said that in the first/second cutscene when he gets to the first part of The Fairy Council, talking about looking for Globox to get his hands back.

Re: How did you become a Rayman fan?
But Globox really was a coward, and he really was hiding. What Rayman said was completely true; there was nothing sarcastic or ironic about it at all.

Well,in Spanish evrsio at least,he said it with a sarcastic voice, and his face didn't help make it more serious.I liked the persoanlity, but for Rayman I preferred the old personality he had in R2spiraldoor wrote:But Globox really was a coward, and he really was hiding. In English, it sounded like Rayman was a little irritated...
Can you blame the guy? His best friend just took off with his hands! I'm sure even the "R2 Persona" wouldn't really appreciate that!

He's getting older. hehe Everybody goes through a personality phase.RayFan9876 wrote:I don't think they ruined his personality at all, it almost seems like an aging thing.
Re: How did you become a Rayman fan?
In Polish he sounded both slightly irritated and a bit ironic "Knowing that coward, he's hidden [himself] somewhere."
Also, he sounded as if Fred (from Scooby-Doo) was talking about Shaggy (or another person he would know), since the voice actors are the same... Or Martin Mystery - that's the same case. Or Gill from Johnny Test...
I can't say the exact year - first contact with the franchise was made in 2000 but I think I got myself into it in 2004-2005.

Re: How did you become a Rayman fan?
I don't think Rayman's personality changed wholly, to the extent some imply.
He's still got that caring side he had in Rayman 2, at the end, he tries to comfort Globox with his loss of Andre.
And he still does have that sense of humour that was mentioned in the manual of Rayman 2, as the way he won over the inhabitants (clearly non-canon with Origins, but at the time of R3, it did have a point)
He just seems more laid back than his Rayman 2 personality, possibly because of his saving of the world twice, though both seem to have confidence.

Re: How did you become a Rayman fan?
The backstory where Rayman wins over the inhabitants of the Glade of Dreams isn’t necessarily non-canon. It’s something that could have happened after he was created by the nymphs. Some details may be inconsistent, but that’s no reason to discount the general thrust of it. And he had actually saved the world on at least three occasions by the time of R3; there was that incident with Jano way back in the day.

Sounds interesting. Could you provide me with a link to read it?spiraldoor wrote:The backstory where Rayman wins over the inhabitants of the Glade of Dreams.
What was that then? You mean when he goes into the Cave of Dreams in Rayman 2 or do you mean something else?spiraldoor wrote:There was that incident with Jano way back in the day.
Re: How did you become a Rayman fan?
I think Spiral means that Jano was the nightmare being who came from Polokus' first bad dream. As a response the nymphs created Rayman. It seems that it was Rayman's first job to defeat Jano. Hence the "incident with Jano".Shrooblord wrote:Sounds interesting. Now whenever he really fought Jano or not I'm not sure. What we do know now is that the bad guy ended up becoming a guardian of the worst place imaginable.

Yes.Spanex wrote: Now whenever he really fought Jano or not I'm not sure. What we do know now is that the bad guy ended up becoming a guardian of the worst place imaginable.
No no, in Rayman 2, Jano played with Rayman's mind and the "fight" we see happens in a different dimension. It isn't related with the first nightmare.Shrooblord wrote:What was that then? You mean when he goes into the Cave of Dreams in Rayman 2 or do you mean something else?
