They spelled it "dijiridoos" though, which is even weirder as your "didjeridus" is actually a correct spelling. :pRayFan9876 wrote:One thing that boggles me is why in the heck they spelled "didgeridoos" as "didjeridoos." I just noticed that Mystic Pique is a pun. It piques as in it works your wonder wafts. Fitting, considering where the Mystic Pique leads to.RayFan9876 wrote:One thing that boggles me is why in the heck they spelled "didgeridoos" as "didjeridoos." Re: Rayman Origins
I think they're just trying to be funny with the names; all the level names are either references to music or film or a pun in some way or another. It already struck me when I saw the name of the first level: It's a Jungle Out There... - Randy Newman.

Re: Rayman Origins
Over the Rainbow.... well, the name comes obviously from the song. And "swimming with the stars" comes from the tv show "Dancing with the stars"
Re: Rayman Origins
And 'The Reveal' might come from our very forum.
Re: Rayman Origins
Wasn't the level actually called 'Swimming with stars' and not 'Swimming with the stars'?sergiomonty wrote:And "swimming with the stars" comes from the tv show "Dancing with the stars"
Oh yeah, there were people on here nicknaming the scene that before anyone knew the level name, weren't there?Rulez wrote:And 'The Reveal' might come from our very forum.
(although I can't be quite sure of this, as I was avoiding finding out about level names and such until I played the game. So I just heard loads of people calling it 'The Reveal' and became confused as to were that came from. When I discovered the level's name, I assumed that was why. I guess not
Re: Rayman Origins
I'm terribly bored, so I shall write theories and thought-up stories of the unlockable characters of Rayman Origins.
First, Globox Rayman. This, I assume, is just a disguise, sort of in a similar way as the skins of Rayman M/Arena. The Bubble Dreamer thinks that it's the same disease that got Globox (which was actually being bitten by blue mosquittoes) and suggests him to consult the Voodoo Mammas. Oh, silly Polokus. DarkRay doesn't need to be explained.
Red Globox is obviously Globox before being bitten by blue mosquittoes. Buuble Dreamer calls him being blue 'a disease', and when he sees his red self, he believes that the Voodoo Mammas found a cure for it. Nothing more to say about that. Glombrox is a criminal who roams the Glade of Dreams, and isn't really hygienic. They appearently keep him in a cage, maybe a prison.
The Green Teensy is just a regular Teensy - there are lots of ones like these. They are basically the 'Regular Teensies'. The Goth Teensy is the guardian of the Dead Door, but when he left it, the Livid Dead escaped and the Grim Reaper was left by them to keep anyone from getting in. He could be bribed of course, but that's not the point. Teensy Ray and Globteen are the leaders of various fanclubs. One of the Rayman fanclub, other of the Globox fanclub. They may be rivals, but who knows? Teensy Ray takes the 'fan' thing up to eleven and gets a hair transplant that he hopes will help him to fly like Rayman. Teensette is a character that makes you wonder. She may be a princess. If so, then that means she would probably be the daughter of the Grand Minimus? He is, after all, King of the Teensies. Either that, or it's his wife - but that wouldn't make sense, as she would then be a queen. I can actually imagine her being younger than the Minimus, so it would make even more sense. Also, she has a crown similar to the one of the Teensie's from Rayman M, in the blue skin. Also, she's the only female Teensy seen, so it is not known if all are such warriors, or 'terrors', as the Bubble Dreamer puts it. The Blue Teensy Wizard is indeed a Wizard, but the exact meaning of him or his job isn't known. The Red Wizard Teensy who was shown at an early cover of the game is surely the twin brother the Bubble Dreamer mentioned. The Grand Minimus, other than being the TRUE King of the Teensies, unlike his three other companions with whom he was trapped in a cage, is also apparently a guardian of the Teensy Kinder. So, his current job might be to guard some Teensy kids (see what I did there?). The Ninja Teensy is an interesting character. Most people didn't like him because of his looks being similar to the Goth Teensy, but I personally think there's more to him than what appears. The Bubble Dreamer says it's the last of his Ninja race, so maybe there were much more Ninja Teensies before. Maybe Anna Lyse was a Ninja Teensy before he decided to change his profession to a doctor? Notice how he can silently fly and levitate - that must have been some of his skills before he became, as I said, a doctor. The Fire Teensy is the guardian of the portals to the Tricky Treasures. Apparently he messed with the peppers of the Gourmand Lands and they forcefed him beans, explaining his creepy looks. The First Grand Minimus was the first King of the Teensies, so there were many more Kings after him. The newest generation's is the one from Rayman 2, 3 and Origins.

Maybe they spell it that way (or similar) in French and it carried over to the English name.RayFan9876 wrote:Huh... you're right. Re: Rayman Origins
I doubt it. I think they spelt it wrong deliberately. Like how the mosquitoes in the series are spelt 'Moskito' with a 'k'

Re: Rayman Origins
We've still got some issues about that. It may be just a costume, much as Rayman's, but if he did find a cure (or at least, went back to the past, before turning blue), why doesn't he keep it like that? Maybe he prefers being blue because that makes him special? You see? too many confusions. That's why we put "Skin" on his status, we aren't sure at all, the only think that we know is that he's globox (unlike glombrox)Rulez wrote: Red Globox is obviously Globox before being bitten by blue mosquitoes.
I like this idea, I mean, on the wiki we just say that the Grim Reaper REPLACED the Goth Teensie just because we're not sure if he works for the Grannies, but shall be mentioned that the Grim Reaper is in fact a member of the Livid Dead (skeleton guy, anyone?). I don't even think that guarding a stupid hole in a tree to prevent the invasion of a bunch of wackos is his job, the grim reaper is a mythological creature, he should be wandering around, searching for old to give them the eternal sleep.Rulez wrote:They are basically the 'Regular Teensies'. I can't tell you if she's a princess, but I can confirm you that she's no longer a queen. Yep, she was intended to be a queen with a fancy crown, and a scrapped playable husband.Rulez wrote:Teensette is a character that makes you wonder. She may be a princess. (Beta picture, thanks to spiraldoor)
Apparently, the Ice Teensie (fan-named by me) was intended to be a playable character, presumably, the king of the Icy area of the Gourmand Land (check out his colour patterns and the snowflakes on his coat, they fit perfectly with the area), and an opposite to the Fire Teensie. He may wear pink, but come on!! Look at his god damn manly MOUSTACHE, and he's the only Teensie King with a wife, he's like "I'm the Ice Teensie, I get all the bitches!"... ok, too much enthusiasm. Now, this picture seems to be updated, it is possible that Droolie could find the files with the Ice Teensie, and maybe (just maybe) the old version of Teensette
Ok that's all. What? I was bored too.
EDIT:
I just noticed something, that's not an earlier version of Teensette, it's just another female teensie. (copy-paste from the discussion on the wiki) If you check this screenshot carefully, you can see the bubble with Teensette inside (check the hat, it's basically the same as the recent version of Teensette). Also, If I were wrong, why is she inside her bubble? wasn't she already chosen by the player? It may be that the guy who took the screenshot has beaten the Land of the Livid Dead, but then, why are the bubbles adobe the Ice Teensie and the Ice Teensette empty? I'm pretty sure that Teensette and Ice Teensette were intended to be different characters, just bearing similar features (Much like the Goth Teensie and the Ninja Teensie). Thoughts, please?

Re: Rayman Origins
Big Mama appeared in almost every trailer, the box art, the art book, the 3d cardboard and the american TV commercial, I'm not trying to sound offensive, but I think everyone except you expected it to be so huge and ugly(...heh...that's what she said). Of course, in my opinion it's creepy, and almost completely unrelated to the regular artstyle; just compare it with an electoon, while the Electoons look based on R1's childish and colourful artstyle, Big Mama looks more like part of Rayman 3's crude and dark artstyle. It's something weird, but the game somehow knows how to use the lines and colours to give some balance to it.Raymansgirl22 wrote:Who else thought the last boss part was weird/creepy? EDIT: More nymphs drawn by Dirk.

Re: Rayman Origins
You know? you're awesome, seriously, you somehow managed to avoid all those teasing spoilers. Seriously, why can't I just avoid spoilers?
I wanted to be surprised by the magician's betrayal while playing, I wanted to say WTF when they started dancing, I want the Men in Black to come to my house to erase my memory and make me enjoy the full game again
