Polokus is the father of the Teensies

Post by spiraldoor »

Well, it turns out the rumour that Polokus was the father of the Teensies is true after all. We’ve been wondering about this story and trying to find its source for several years, and it appears that I’ve finally made a breakthrough. It occurred to me that the Rayman 2 site in question might actually be French, so I started Googling things like ‘enfants de Polokus’ and ‘fils de Polokus’. Guess what I found?

Admittedly it’s just another MultiMania page, but the difference is that all of the text on this one – including plenty of character descriptions I’ve never seen before – seems to have been copied and pasted from an official site or press release, so we can be pretty certain it’s the real deal. I think I get the gist of it, but if a French speaker would like to give us a proper translation, that would be very welcome. Strangely enough, I found the same information on the Teensie article of the French RayWiki. Apparently it was added last month by Boomboleros, but nobody noticed. :boon:

Well we haven't seen him in years. That site is in the "so bad it's funny" category btw.

That's right, I have used this text for the Teensie article. In fact, I've found it on a French book, Rayman 2: The Great Escape Official Strategy Guide.

I prepare a translation.

I wouldn’t expect a teenager to be able to put together a high-quality website. In any case, I’m more interested in the information it contains.

That sounds great. Do you think you could scan the relevant page (or pages), so that we’ll have concrete proof? The translation isn’t as important.

Sure !

But the image was too heavy, so I post it on RayWiki.

Thanks! You’ve been a great help. It looks like the descriptions in the strategy guide are the very same as the ones on supmachin’s fansite.

And now, all we need is that map.

Whoa, that info.
boomboleros7's scan on RayWiki wrote:Despite their appearance and their bizarre behaviour, the Teensies are old and wise (/sages). According to the legend, they are the sons of Polokus and the muse of the poets. This woman of infinite beauty was so ashamed of her descendants that she left and hid in the forest, to Polokus' great regret...
Long ago, the Teensies created the Hall of Doors, which allows travel from one world to another. Because of their old age, they are somewhat unpredictable and so senile that they can't stop arguing about who their king is. They will help Rayman to use and activate their magical gates every time he manages to free them.

Supmachin was cool when he learnt to write. And so much fun before that.

It's fun to see Google Translate actually translate 'Ptizêtres' to 'Teensies'. Rayman becomes vocabulary at last!

Really nice information you guys gathered - great work!
