I honestly think you guys are just spergin on things only super-big fans will get. Also, when the came came out everyone was like"THIS IS SUPER FUN AND IT IS THE BEST THING RAYMAN HAS DONE SINCE RAYMAN 2!" but as soon as Bald Rayman appeared everyone was like "OH THIS GAME IS NOT AS GOOD AS THE SECOND ONE WHERE ARE ALL THE BRIGHT COLOURS* :ouin:"

I think you guys are just overreacting to a sequel to a series that hasn't had one for five years. Be thankful this game exists, as it might mean more Rayman 2 type games will come out.

also the music RO is awesome.
rayman 2 only had 4 levels with colors in it

Wrong, that isn't true at all. Many of us have hardly changed our opinion since the first time we played it. In fact, I had already completely forgotten about the bald-Rayman fact until just now.

Wrong again, you mean eight years. And are you saying that just because we didn't make it, we aren't allowed to criticize it? I'm plenty thankful the game exists, we just aren't having a dandy baby-shower over it, because at the moment we're debating over its flaws.

And wrong yet again. The colours in Rayman 2 were bright and vibrant, similar to that of the first game.

In my opinion rayman 2's colors where kinda dark, but that was perfect because you could see what the pirates have done to the world.

Sorry, did I say bright? I meant dark but vibrant.

Hi, I'm new here, but have been visiting this forum few times before.
Now I can see that many of you, truly declared fans of Rayman series, just bragging about the last game.
Reading your posts makes me think that most of you simply doesn't like any changes to the games... Rayman Origins isn't any worse than its predecessors. It has really cool graphics and animations, wacky music and characters, many levels to beat and co-op feature. But it is not true 3d sequel, yeah... So what? Maybe there would be Rayman 4, but Rayman Origins is a lot of fun for now and I'm happy it exists. I love classic 2d platformers and the games with SOUL as this one. So don't get nostalgia eat you people, and simply have some fun. It's one of the best platformers from many years, that's a fact.

I completely agree with you. I also think there would be a Rayman 4 maybe with 3D enchancements of the 2D games. "Revenge of the Dark" would be that.

That track was excellent, but so was the music in the Land of the Livid Dead, as well as the music in the Moody Clouds (most of which was composed by Billy Martin). The rest of the score is passable, but it doesn’t really stand up compared to those of the first three games. Héral is a great composer, but either he isn’t very good at capturing specific atmospheres, or he received instructions to compose ‘wacky’ music. The score of Beyond Good & Evil is better.

Wow... those Images are really creepy, specially the one with the lividstones.... You know? the only jungle level with an awesome background in Rayman Origins may be the first one from the Ticklish Temples: Outta My Way, I mean, seriously, those purple flowers in the background are amazing!!

Why is everyone so obsessed about us being unhappy this game exists? I'm happy,it's something, but it's a fact that it isn't as good as Rayman 2.I wouldn't even dare mention them in the same sentence.

The fact you wouldn't mention them in the same sentence could imply disapproval towards Origins.
Origins is a brilliant game, it did revitalize the series after 8 years in which Rayman's good name was tainted by something way more quirkier than that of Origins.

But you just did. "it" is in reference to origins, so basically, you said "Origins isn't as good as Rayman 2." Therefore, you mentioned them in the same sentence. :fou:

Okay, RayFan, so if I understand your pics correctly, what you did was you took a screenshot of Origins, put it into CryEngine and made every single pixel an incredibly difficultly-meshed object? What are all those pics about?

Rayman Origins is a 2D game that uses 3D technology. It uses different layers and RayFan was kind enough to use 3D Ripper DX on a scene in Origins, open the result in 3DS Max and rotate it a bit.

Actually I agree with that completely. The Land of the Livid Dead and Moody Clouds music was very notable, which I forgot to mention in my original comment. Unfortunately Moody Clouds was the shortest world, and TLoTLD was just one level.

Nay, 'tis 3ds Max. Origins uses flat geometry.

Yep. I was curious to find out exactly how the scenery was built, and to my mild surprise, 3D Ripper DX did a perfect job. We also now know that an average screen consists of between ten to twenty thousand polygons, which is a good indicator of performance. However, if anyone wants to try ripping some scenes, be sure to disable all of the "bypass" settings when importing the Origins frames, otherwise it won't work.
TeensieKing wrote:I wouldn't even dare mention them in the same sentence.
I think that's quite unfair. Origins was a great game. I didn't like it quite as much as Rayman 2, but it's still right up there in my top ten.

I can confirm that.

The music isn't as good as the music of the previous 3 games. It doesn't feel quite Raymanish.
