Why would they not cancel a game for an outdated console :P

I'd certainly be surprised if Ubisoft continued a game based around the Rayman 1 worlds and styles. :fou2:

That'd be like Disney reverting Mickey Mouse back to the styles of Steamboat Willie.

Not really, it would be like resurrecting the props and characters, not the style.

Wow! That's a really cool discovery. It must be that scrapped boss idea with Xovar instead of Master Kaag. Very cool :)

The second picture matches the description of the scrapped Xowar minigame, which was probably based on a cut level anyway.

The pictures look shopped. In the first picture, the Xowar has the green glow on him from his room in the Tower of the Leptys. The second picture is a drawing. Third picture is real and was made with a cheat code by MyUbisoft (take a look at his youtube channel, he has some cool stuff).

How could I not notice this until you mentioned it?

I thought that second picture looked fishy... the Xowar is way bigger than in the other shots.

Also notice how in the first picture most of the objects look like they've been pasted on top of a background. For example, the crates just under the health bar*...and why is the bar indicating Rayman's holding a power up while he's not different in color?

*crates have been put over the bar

Aww, and it seemed like such an amazing find... Nice shopping, whoever made this... But give it a good look and you'll see it's pretty obvious. It looks like they were saved in a bad quality in an attempt to cover up the holes.

They would, but the DS isn't outdated yet.

True, but when a new console comes out to replace (in this case, the 3DS), the only new games for the 'old' one that tend to come out are lame movie tie-ins. I know this from experience.
Sometimes you do get late gems though (for instance, Kirby games love popping up on consoles near the end of their run), although I doubt this lovely belated Rayman 1 tie-in is going to see the light of day :(

Speaking of Rayman 1 tie-ins and the DS, has anyone played the DSi Rayman 1 version? I've heard you have more life and that some things are different, but I can't find any YouTube videos with anything better than quality so poor you can't see the screen.

I have it on my 3DS and yes it's way easier than other versions (not in terms of gameplay but in terms of energy and lives the rest is allmost the same except for some graphical changes (drums are f*cked up and the slide thingy's in band land are black))

A big majority of the music from the Dsi version of Rayman wasn't included. That was the only problem I had with it and it still bugs me. Which is why I prefer the older versions better.

It's the only version I've played, since I don't own it for the PS1 (and I actually do have one* of those) and the one on my PC fails to run. What I can tell you is that the sound quality sounds fine to me, but I don't know any better. Lives for 50 Tings and you can use SELECT to skip a level you've already passed (very useful to do a load of quick runs through the first stage of Allegro Presto to get your life count up). I've been told the colour of the slippery surfaces are different, but nothing seems out of place or ugly. I've seen in videos the water in the level Eat at Joe's is actually see-through, which is not the case in the DSi version, and makes it very hard to anticipate the stalking attack of the killer one-toothed fish. I can assure you all Cages are still quite hard to find if you don't know where to look - the first time I played through I found them all pretty easily; the second time I had somehow forgotten where all of them were and had to look up the locations of say three Cages because I couldn't find them. Music sounds fine, though I've noticed not all tracks from the original game are in there, sadly, but what is in there sounds good, though you might think otherwise if you're a real audio-focussed person and notice the bitrate is different or something. The graphics are still stunning, bar for the non-transparent water. The only thing that's quite annoying is that, to run, you need to hold the L button, but after a long game of Rayman, it might become tired and causes you to either mash it real hard to get it to work, or try to press it as many times as you can in hope that one of those tries will result in Rayman actually running.

I enjoyed it a lot, that's for sure.

PS
And I was so determined on keeping this post a short one. Oh, well.
