There was a crash in these last days in RPC, and 4 days of posts were completely lost.

Wait... lost? As in, non-recoverable? ... ooo-kay.

What were we talking about then? I think the smiley I posted got lost too. I'll just repost it here for your own benefit.

So I made this untextured windmill:

Image

I was wondering, not in direct relation to the windmill, if you could make me four wood textures:
  • A tree bark one that I could place on... trees and such (make it rough, but not too rough).
  • One that could go along the floor and walls that's made out of nailed planks and such. Show big nails hammered into the planks. They don't need to be symmetrical, just sort of hammered together to look like on of those child's forts.
  • One more nailed plank one, but make this one much more refined than the first, make the pattern even and professional, and make the nails far smaller and less obvious. These would all be horizontally symmetrical, as opposed to the chaotic pattern of the previous.
  • Lastly, a general wood texture. Make it look sanded down, relatively smooth (not too smooth though), but varied.
Remember to make all of these textures tileable! :)

Hmmm, okay! I actually remember I had that treebark texture from the spinning tree model I once sent you. But I seem to have lost it D':

You know, this tree: http://spanex.deviantart.com/gallery/23901623#/d4g9mgc

Anyway, it was kind of swirly. Do you want me to keep that concept? It's very Rayman after all.

Oh, I love that windmill, of course! It looks amazing. I'm just a little bothered with its wings (do you call them that?) It's the texture they use. But I suppose that will be fixed later on. (what is that white bar in the sky?)

EDIT: Yay! The texture is in my external drive! I'm sending you the PNG right away on email.

Awesome, thanks Spanex! :) The swirly idea is great, no worries.

About the windmill, that's why I said it was "untextured." All I did was paste the same texture I used on the bridge on top because otherwise it would be glowing red with this "REPLACE ME" texture, so it technically has no texture.

Oh, UNtextured. I must have misread that. O_o

I just sent you a whole bag full of textures. I hope you like 'em.

Holy jesus, those are awesome. I'm going to do something with those tree textures right now.

Also, one more texture request at the moment, can you make a texture of climbable vines, similar to those in Rayman 2? Remember to make those vertically tileable.

Okay, I'll need to write these down. I begin to get scatter minded when I get multiple requests. X)

Edit: I wrote it down now. I'll see if I can find time today, but it's unlikely. I sent you my old tree model (I found it back too!). The details on what needs to be fixed will be in the email, if you plan to use it. Anyway, next to your requests I will try and make more plant textures every so often. I've made screenshots from Rayman 3 to use as references. Got to get that magic feel to them. Most of these plants will be simple ones that don't need a complicated model.

The windmill looks amazing! It's curvy and doesn't look man-made at all; almost as if it naturally grew that way and then a chopper blade grew out of its extremities as leaves. Nicely sculpted indeed, a big improvement on the far-too-realistic windmills I remember from way back when I first saw screens of this (that was back in the day when I was all like "yeah, what RayFan is doing is great, but it's a bit un-Rayman"... of course then I didn't know your plans). And I remember that tree all too well... it was great back then and it's still great right now.

And yep, Spanex, the correct terminology is the mill's 'wings'.

Looks awesome, but maybe that windmill should have some leaves so it looks more natural

What? You mean so it really looks like it was a tree that somehow formed into a windmill? That was just my way of describing its shape... it shouldn't actually be a tree. That would be ... weird.

Then again, if you do make it a tree, give it googly eyes that follow you around. That makes it both so weird it's acceptable, as being a good nostalgia-trip.

That's actually a brilliant idea, to make the windmill organic.

Onto another matter for a moment, I'll give you a hint, it isn't a red star, and it's from a pre-rendered cutscene I'm working on:

Ah! I see what it is! x)

It got really late for me last night, (with the busy day and all, I went to my nephew's concert and I'm still half asleep right now.) I had no time yet at all. But when I get back from work and have taken a nap, I'll get on with the textures.
