Re: Rayman Origins
I'm starting to think, because of this bit of text from Polokus: "You still King? Way to go! Your coronation party rocked! Mamma Hité was looking fine! Do you think she'll take me back?" that Mamma Hité, possibly even Big Mama, may be the Muse of the Poets.
Voodoo Mamma however seems to be a term to describe a female Red Wizard.

Re: Rayman Origins
For starters, Betilla does not appear in R2 to give Rayman powers, Ly does, and she explains that the explosion of the heart has made collecting the energy needed to give Rayman his powers difficult, thus, it would make sense for her to "pop-up" out of nowhere to deliver upon Rayman a new power when she had gathered ample energy. The same could be said for Betilla, since the Great Protoon has been stolen and the world in imbalance, thus, once again, she would need time in order to give Rayman new abilities.Fauch wrote:well, having to save her in every world doesn't sound much like a help. in rayman 1 and 2 she just popped up whenever you needed a new power and you didn't need to save her a bazillion times.Betillas role had been a role of a faithful helper and a close friend.
It makes sense in all of them, in R1, the great protoon has been stolen, and in Rayman 2, the heart of the world has been destroyed, the manual clearly shows that Rayman loses most of his offensive abilities, and, once again, since the Great Protoon is often considered in the same light as the Heart Of The World, you could apply the same reasoning to Rayman 1.Fauch wrote:btw, they need to stop making rayman start without the power to punch. it made sense in R3 because he had no hand, but in RO, why the hell does he need a power to use his hands??? it could be said of some others powers as well.
R3, like you said, is due to Rayman's loss of hands.
As for RO, perhaps the defeat brought upon Rayman in the beginning somehow made him lose his powers again, as he's clearly shown attacking the army of undead.

Well I thought the Daily Bubble made it pretty clear that it was the same character. In any case, her name is far from poetic!

Re: Rayman Origins
Well, I wish Rayman Origins 2 has a level editor, I would remake all of the levels from the first game and share them with you
btw, Latinamericans like me don't celebrate "April's Fool" day on April, we celebrate something called "Innocent Day" on december 28, so, no, there's no way a Brazilian could make such joke. There's nothing weird with "Rayman Origins 2", I had to deal with the name "Super Mario Galaxy 2" (and that game totally worth mah money).

Re: Rayman Origins
I’m surprised that this didn’t occur to me. It makes perfect sense, as we’re told that the muse of the poets left Polokus ‘to his eternal regret’, which seems to fit with Polokus’s line in Rayman Origins. It’s natural that she would be at the Grand Minimus’s coronation if she’s a member of his family – perhaps she became reconciled with her children at some point. We also know that the only race Polokus created before the Teensies was the fairies, so it’s reasonable to speculate that the muse of the poets is a fairy herself – like Big Mama.Slowcoachtom wrote:I'm starting to think, because of this bit of text from Polokus: "You still King? Re: Rayman Origins
I leave for a couple days and all of the sudden BANG Rayman Origins 2.
I'm a bit disappointed, honestly, I was hoping it would be a 3D game OH WELL
I'm hoping there will be more story, more worlds, less shooting levels, and more skins.

Re: Rayman Origins
actually, what would make sense is if rayman could attack like in RO, but needed a power to throw his fists. or the power could just make the fists more powerful, like the golden fists / Heavy Metal Fist of R3 and allow him to destroy stuffs he can't normally destroy.

Re: Rayman Origins
Do you know what Hité means, I was trying to find out before, but with no luck? I guess it must be a made up name like Globox.Hunchman801 wrote:Well I thought the Daily Bubble made it pretty clear that it was the same character. In any case, her name is far from poetic!
Well Muses and Nymphs are both from Greek mythology, and if I remember correctly muses were female spirits which inspire creation in artistic ways. I also think, as I have done since Origin's release, Big Mama may have been based on the Greek nymph "Echidna", who is referred to as "Mother of All Monsters" where Big mama is referred to as "Mother of All Nightmares".spiraldoor wrote:I’m surprised that this didn’t occur to me. Re: Rayman Origins
I don't think Rayman's RO attack style would fit in a 3d environment in honesty, there, I think R3's attack style works best.Fauch wrote:actually, what would make sense is if rayman could attack like in RO, but needed a power to throw his fists. or the power could just make the fists more powerful, like the golden fists / Heavy Metal Fist of R3 and allow him to destroy stuffs he can't normally destroy.Master4lyf1 wrote:It makes sense in all of them, in R1, the great protoon has been stolen, and in Rayman 2, the heart of the world has been destroyed, the manual clearly shows that Rayman loses most of his offensive abilities, and, once again, since the Great Protoon is often considered in the same light as the Heart Of The World, you could apply the same reasoning to Rayman 1.Fauch wrote:btw, they need to stop making rayman start without the power to punch. it made sense in R3 because he had no hand, but in RO, why the hell does he need a power to use his hands??? it could be said of some others powers as well.

However, in 2d it indeed works remarkably well, but to have them and the telescopic fists as separate attacks would be unnecessary in my opinion, since in a fast paced game like RO, there is little opportunity to use it, I find myself only using the telescopic fist when I can remain still, which isn't very often, the attack I believe was used most was probably the jump or spin attacks, due to the constant moving occurring during levels.
Also, I think that there should be a balance in Rayman's abilities, having too much power in one's hands often ruins the experience, due to the game becoming much easier, also, accumulating powers is rather satisfying when it comes to backtracking, since areas which were once difficult become much easier, but since the player has passed through it before with lesser abilities, it doesn't feel jarring or boring as they can do more than they could originally and have more power over the situation.

Re: Rayman Origins
It does actually work. Punching is Rayman's basic attack in ROTD, but if you wind it up, he throws it. It works very well, in a sense that you can start of with a long range shot or two, then while he's stunned, pummel him!Master4lyf1 wrote:I don't think Rayman's RO attack style would fit in a 3d environment in honesty, there, I think R3's attack style works best..

Welp, so much for a Rayman 4.

It could be worse... did you hear about the new "Rabbids Invasion on Facebook"? Rabbids are going down so quickly...

Each day I'm more convinced Ancel changed his mind and isn't thinking of doing any R4 anytime (relatively) soon.I feel Rayman's 3D era has finished.I hope I'm worng,ofc.R2 is the best so far imo.

Re: Rayman Origins
Well I happen to have been playing Rabbids Invasion since Tuesday and I really don't see how that alone makes Rabbids "even worse", when there was Travel in Time which was THE worst of the bunch. It's not like anyone HAS to even play stuff like this so what's with the whine?

Anyway, I'm about to explode because of the Ubisoft Spanish Technical Support.
If this endless "support" continues, I think I'll just screw all of this and buying the game only when it becomes almost given for free. Unless I upgrade in the meantime to Windows 7 Professional and I see the problem is solved.
I'm so so glad to have bought a PS3 to play RO and not have waited for the PC version, or else I would lose money and having the game unplayable, while Ubisoft would say "oh what a shame, its your problem".

Not sure if cerial.Danone wrote:No, Rayman 3 is the best
It was a fun game, don't get me wrong. But it was no where near as good as Rayman 2.
It lacked that "magical" vibe that the second had.

Re: Rayman Origins
Now if we had Rayman 2 with Rayman 3's combat system and advanced visuals....
It'd be the perfect Rayman 2 Port...
Also another texture hack idea, turn the Blue arm spheres (That you swing from their hands) into Purple Lums, and the arms into a sparkle beam.

Rayman 2 had a better story too,in my opinion. And I prefer its combat system.I hated R3's powerups.I only liked that you could only hit twice at the same time because Rayman has no more fists, but disliked that it had so much effects you couldn't even see the fist.I would have preferred that you could see the fist his the enemy.Oh,and I love the charging system too.Other than that,R2's combat system is way more attractive to me,those energy balls look awesome.
