Exactly that. Otherwise it would look cut off and ugly. And we don't want that.Shrooblord wrote:Well, see how the ends of the tile cut off? I think she means to say she wants to create some parts to go onto that so you can get a nice endpiece at the end of your vine.
That's the first part of the Fairy Glade. I'm actually looking up from below the large branch that sticks out from one side of the area to another.Shrooblord wrote:By the way, Spanex, from what scene in the game is that a picture of? I don't recognise any climable pillars like that...

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Ooooh I see now. Just out of curiosity, how'd you decide which level to pick for the vines? Or did you just pick the one with the vines to show up the quickest? You see, I'd like to know if the lighting had anything to do with your choice.
Also, is the texture you made meant to be shaded by light effects from CryEngine? It is, right?
Should I not have said this yet, great job on those vines. They really represent the same ones from 2, and don't assault them with violent inefficiencies like you would see from most other people trying to copy a texture from something (like moi).

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Indeed. In the Rayman 2 engine, bumpmaps were still a thing of the future, so the textures were drawn with shading. Here, I would generate a normal map that gives it dynamic shading. I did the same for all the other textures she made as well.Shrooblord wrote:Also, is the texture you made meant to be shaded by light effects from CryEngine? It is, right?
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Now I want to see one of my textures with one such shading.
My boss knows about this project, Rayfan, and he gave me the official okay on this. I'm allowed to take some time at work to make your textures.

Here ja go:Spanex wrote:Now I want to see one of my textures with one such shading.

If you're wondering why the leaves are green, it's because they will be lots of different colours throughout the game. In this case, the new Windmill Hills here has a very green and orange theme:

Oh wow, that's awesome!Spanex wrote:My boss knows about this project, Rayfan, and he gave me the official okay on this. I'm allowed to take some time at work to make your textures.

And the green leaves are cool. The more colours the better!
I work at my old school as an assistant. I do the printing work and get to create leaflets, books ect from the start. This means I work with Adobe a lot, Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop included. My boss is the most awesome. He's obviously a teacher, so he believes personal growth is important.RayFan9876 wrote:Oh wow, that's awesome!Spanex wrote:My boss knows about this project, Rayfan, and he gave me the official okay on this. Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Doublepost: I sent you an email with the latest textures. I'm free for the cage one now, but after that I want to work on some of my own stuff.

The vines are fantastic!
I'll definitely be putting it into the game right away. I'll reply to your email tomorrow about the wood texture (I know it might be a little difficult to get the right "texture" of a relatively smooth surface), and I'll also give you the cage template.
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
I think I'll retry the sanded wood texture. But before I do could you explain to me again what needs to be done about it? I lost my description file (I usually copy/paste them into a wordpad) ad I don't remember what the specifics here.

Make it a smooth wooden surface, but with a little bit of grit to it. It's hard to explain really... Smaller details as opposed to the big grooves you would see in tree bark.Spanex wrote:I think I'll retry the sanded wood texture. Also, I've been remodeling Moskito, since the old one was... really old. Like 2008 old. Here's my new version (I haven't done the arms and hands yet):
He even has different morph-targeted expressions:
As you can see, I based his style off of yours, Spanex, and he even has the triangular proboscis:

And here is la wireframe view:

One of your images is not showing up. It's missing a [
Wow, even the triangular nose? He looks absolutely amazing!
And here, I'm trying out something new this time:

It's kind of cheating because I used a filter to make the fiber texture. It's already seamless, but I still need to add ring shapes.

I fixed that before you finished posting.Spanex wrote:One of your images is not showing up. It's missing a [
That's the right idea! And don't worry, I use filters/effects all the time.Spanex wrote:

Sweet you are remodeling my character, the body does need improvement but I can obviously tell you working on that! So far though the eyes and the beak are WELL DONE!RayFan9876 wrote:Make it a smooth wooden surface, but with a little bit of grit to it. It's hard to explain really... Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Thanks Rayfist!
The body was a little bit difficult to figure out, despite being a rather simple shape, but I'm still working on it, so no worries.
