That's no Windows XP theme. That's just Windows 7 with the aero colored blue.

I've planned to upgrade my comp to play latest games at above 39fps :oops2:
I've selected what I need please review this and tell me ASAP ;)

Intel i7 2600 3.4 ghz turbo boost 3.8ghz or something
Nvidia gtx 580 1.5gb
6gb DDR3
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R motherboard

Whaddya think? Good? Excellent? Ugly? Bad? Please tell me whether I will easily be able to play latest games at min 39fps like NFS the run , crysis 2 , nfs hot pursuit 2010 (it's 2 years old but meh)

Thanks a lot  appreciate it

Heyall let's revive dead topics whee! Actually this one may be quite useful.

I've upgraded my PC just for Guild Wars 2. I mention that game too much. If you haven't googled it yet by now, do it ALREADY.

Intel i5 2450 chip
a strong Quad mobo with crossfire support (don't remember the name right now)
Kingston 8 GB RAM (2x4 so it can be upgraded to up to 16)
ATI AMD Radeon 6950 HD 1GB (I :coeur: this thing)
1TB hard disk space

This baby should be capable of the job.

Thanks spanex :D and also sorry for posting on a dead topic
However I didn't understand what you meant.
Is the comp specs i have able to run games like battlefield 3 / nfs the run (both share sane engine) higher than 35fps ?
Again really appreciate it if anyone answers this question

Thanks again

Yup, that'd work, I'm not the most knowledgeable in this topic, but those do look like top-notch components to me.
How much is that going to cost you? Here, that'd probs be in the £1000 range.

Ah yes, sorry about that. Well I'm not a professional regarding system specs, but an intel i7? That's better than mine I believe?

I just looked at the motherboard specs, and it doesn't appear to support the correct socket for the cpu chosen, the motherboard (GA-X58A-UD3R) supports socket 1366, but the cpu chosen is a Sandy Bridge processor, and if I recall correctly, they were socket 1155.

I can't believe my computer will complete 5 years in August. In 2013 it will become officially obsolet! :mryellow:

Yea that's right.
Get a Z68 motherboard instead. I'd get 8gb RAM too.

Okay, now that I'm home, I can be more specific about my PC specs.

Intel Core i5 2450p
Asus P8Z68 - V/Gen3 (this one should be a recommendation to you, rayman4ever)
Kingston 8GB (2x4)
AMD Radeon HD6950 1GB excuse me, 2GB.
1TB Harddrive

I don't think the power supply matters, but it's a Sharkoon Rush Power 600W. Plenty of power for my PC as it currently is.

And a site that's worth checking out: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/intro.aspx
It analyses your PC specs and tells you if you can run a game or not.

My PC got past "Fast" for games such as Skyrim.

I tried to make it analyze my iPhone, but it requires ActiveX. Bah.

My actual computer now is:
  • Asus P-6T motherboard
  • Intel Core i7 920
  • 12 GB Corsair DDR3 RAM (6 sticks of 2)
  • nVidia GTX580 (I'm getting a second one this Summer)
  • 5 TB Drive space (640 GB + 640 TB + 1.5 TB + 2TB + 250 GB SSD)
Like I said, I'll be purchasing a second GTX580, soon I'll have the ultimate SLI. I'll also be getting a third monitor along with it so I can work on ROTD more efficiently: CryEngine viewport in the middle, 3ds Max or Photoshop on the right, and inter conversion tools & CryEngine toolbars & UI on the left.

Fellow Crysis fan here!

Well we would need to know more about your computer than just the motherboard, because that has literally almost no impact on your performance. The most important thing to know primarily is your graphics card, followed by your processor and RAM.

Oh sorry, I somehow missed that. But yes, you'll get fine FPS *probably 50-80) in Crysis 2 on max, and other games like that. If you're going to play with DX11, then you might lose ten or fifteen frames, but it;s totally worth it.

I only wish my graphics card wasn't a pretty bad mobile version, I can't even play Crysis 2 at a decent frame rate, although it handles Crysis 1/Warhead very well.

Really? That's strange, Crysis 2 is supposed to be able to run even better than Crysis 1, despite having better graphics.

It sounds like Crysis 2 is a very demanding game. Are there any demos of it so I can test it on my computer to see how it fares?
