The level editor is called "Mapper" and is located in the main Rayman Designer folder; you crawl by pressing... down. I thought the latter would be frighteningly obvious.metalflygon08 wrote:How do access the level editor? And how do I crawl?

Re: Rayman 1
I hold down and left or right and Rayman just stays crouched, and I know it's not my keyboard because I can crawl in Rayman Advance by holding down+left, but in Rayman Designer, down+left does nothing...

Re: Rayman 1
Rayman Advance is the only version where you press a diagonal to crawl. In the other versions, you press down and hold jump to move forward. I know it's strange, but it works.
Re: Rayman 1
Yeah, the crawling controls are different depending on what version of Rayman you have. In the PC versions you have to hit down, hold CTRL and then move. The same applies for all the crude PS1 ports of the educational titles (but with control being replaced with the PlayStation controls obviously
). My personal favourite is on the PS1 version of Rayman 1, where you used the shoulder buttons, but it was pretty comfortable on the GBA too

Re: Rayman 1
What version were you playing? Does your keyboard have ghosting issues? You only have to duck and hold the jump button (I set mine to A), which automatically makes Rayman crawl forward. You don't need to press a direction unless you want to change it.Electoon wrote:In the PC versions you have to hit down, hold CTRL and then move.
I agree with this, though it did take me a while to get used to the PS1 crawling.Electoon wrote:My personal favourite is on the PS1 version of Rayman 1, where you used the shoulder buttons, but it was pretty comfortable on the GBA too

Good point- that's what I meant in the first place

Re: Rayman 1
Here's a question, has anyone ever ripped the Rayman 1 sprites? I know there used to be a 2D ripping project here (google links me to it whenever I search Rayman Sprites). But all the object sprites are saved as JPEGs ruining their quality, I found a sheet on google with all the boss's sprites, on Betilla's garden iirc, but it was shrunken down.
We should try and get all these sprites together, it would help Fan Games, I've already ripped all the Level Blocks from Rayman Designer (my real reason for wanting is) and want to get the objects and charecters, not their animated sprites, but each of their parts as loaded into the games 16x16 image thingey.
Would I post another 2D ripping project, could I get everyone's support?

Rayman is the first game I ever played! I have it on PS1. I am Mr Stone's Peaks but the game freezes everytime I complete the part where you cut the ropes.

Re: Rayman 1
Ah, another difference with the DSi version then; there you hold down and go forwards to crawl. Seriously, down plus jump isn't quite intuitive, but then again, back in the day the jump button was often used in combination with a directional or other control to do a special move, so the control mapping makes sense in the timeframe of Rayman 1.RayFan9876 wrote:Rayman Advance is the only version where you press a diagonal to crawl. Re: Rayman 1
I now own this very copy of Rayman (along with a console to go with it, of course!). Rayman's World, here I come!Funny, I actually saw an actual copy of Saturn version of Rayman recently. I would have got it if it weren't for the one fact I didn't have a Saturn![]()
EDIT: It looks so nice and crisp. Probably the crispest looking version of Rayman I've seen on a TV screen - or ever for that matter! I also find it interesting that the bridge between levels is blue as opposed to the usual red

Re: Rayman 1
Anyone know a password for the Cave of Skops so I can pass Blue Mountins? Like I said before my game feezes up on Mr Stone's Peaks. The game over music also goes too fast sometimes because of the disc being a bit scratched.

That skips you to the next level. Here's a list of all the cheats in the different PC versions:

Do I enter that in as a password? I have it on PS1 not PC.
Re: Rayman 1
Aha! Playstation passwords!Yoshidude99 wrote:Do I enter that in as a password? I have it on PS1 not PC.
This password gives Rayman all powers, Electoons, and every level including Mr. Dark's Dare unlocked -NW?WD15!4Q
^ I used to know that off by heart when I was little
And if you're less of a cheat, here's one which skips The Blue Mountains and takes you to Picture City:

This is assuming you have the PAL version and not the NTSC one

Re: Rayman 1
Thanks for that! I do have the PAL version. I used the Mr Dark cheat once but couldn't get past Dark Rayman. I'll use it again after I've beaten the Cave of Skops.

Is Picture City before or after the Cave of Skops?
