Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Out of all honesty, I did like the old Moskito model a bit better, though I have no complains with this one.

Weird as fuck.
Weird as fuck.
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
I'm confused. Do you mean a new soundtrack part is coming out soon?

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
That's exactly what I mean.R3fan2 wrote:I'm confused. Do you mean a new soundtrack part is coming out soon?
1. "The Land of Unimportant Proportion: My Crashed Toy Train" - 0:00
2. "Music Mountain: Frazzle Dazzle" - 1:37
3. "Music Mountain: Nightblitz" - 4:47
4. "Glaciation Bay: For to Long Nevermore"- 6:23
Track one, well, as you may have guessed, is based off of the "toy land" in the scrapped Rayman 4, evident by the name.
Tracks two and three follow "Slippidy do-dat-day," as you're riding along the sheet music and bouncing along bongos with the music notes zipping by overhead. As Nightblitz comes around, the sun has gone down, and you see Music Mountain light up above for what it really is.
I recorded the children's voices you can hear in track four at the playground of a French preschool near my place. As they momentarily sound almost close to you at 10:50-11:10, you realise that they're even further away than ever, and that deep down in this dark and frozen glacier, you haven't seen the suns for days; perhaps even weeks. You may never find your way out.
Yes, I am well aware that the last track is eight minutes long.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
God,sounds so epic! So we will get a toy world? And will there be lakes and water paths in the forest? And Frazzle Dazzle sounds fucking genius!
I like it,just looks weird. But it looks cool.I didn't like RO's mouth so I still prefer this one xD But I hope he never stands over his feet. But I thought his limbs would be shorterRayFan9876 wrote: Oh deary me, well this is the way he's going to stay.
Also, suddenly enough, another wild soundtrack appeared a few hours in the future.
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
So, I'm really feeling very inspired by The Lorax that I saw today in 3D, and I paid some quick homage to it. I don't really know any better place to post it but here, since it's a 3DS model, sooo...here we go!

Well, it's a very simple model, and the texture of the fluff is a bit small, but it still looks decent. Those beautiful trees! Mile after mile in the fresh morning breeze.
When you think about it, Ancel and Suess share the same kind of imagination. I love that kind of fantasy.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
I was thinking those trees would look coolio in ROTD.If Spanex and RayFan want ofc
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
That's actually not a bad idea, but we all know this belongs to Dr. Suess. It could go as an easter egg. That way there would only be one such tree in the game and hard to find. I think otherwise, it would be interfering.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Ah, yes. Dr. Suess... one of my favourite children's tales from my past. Right up there with Narnia.
Also, I'm listening to the soundtrack. Only heard the toy train so far but it sounds flipping amazing. It's reminding me a lot of the epic feeling I got from Drawn to Life's soundtrack. Frazzle Dazzle sounds nice in chord progression, but I don't really feel like it's going anywhere for some reason, sorry. It's got just a bit too little variation in the chords for me, but it's still very atmospheric and beautiful for what it is. The bridge came in at exactly the right time; also the little piano solo you get from 4:06 onwards has a nice touch to it. You know it actually sounds more like an actual song than game music. That's quite nice in its own way. Nightblitz sounds like a variation on Frazzle Dazzle, which is I expect something you tried to achieve, but as such, it gets basicly the same critique. The choir addition is neat though. The last track really gives you the sense of a cold, dark and lonely place where there seems to be no way out, though it's got a magic atmosphere in it as you tred through its pathways. It works quite well as ambient music that's not too much in your face during on of those more creepy scenes, which is great for a surrounding like this (well, as much as I can make up from the description under the song). The children give it an extra spooky touch, but if you don't really know they're children, they could be cries from anything really, which gives it a more mysterious whiff. It could very easily loop on forever without you really noticing. Good job!

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Thanks for the details Shroob!
Good note on the crying voices, and that makes it all the more interesting.
Did you use boxes instead of planes because the planes are only one-sided? If so, you can make the planes two-sided by going into the render options (the button beside "render" and clicking "Force 2-sided."
And yes, I think that would make a very good cameo. I'll say yes as of now.
That was one little problem I noticed as well, but I decided not to change it since I wanted to keep a very steadfast mood. I guess there still could have been a bit more variation though.Shrooblord wrote:Frazzle Dazzle sounds nice in chord progression, but I don't really feel like it's going anywhere for some reason, sorry. It's funny, because I actually thought of making it a song as well. I do that sometimes, and sometimes I even go the other way around. The three piano pieces in the Penumbra Ocean (in part 18) are actually, if put together, the instrumental to another song I've written (it has voice) named "Greater than Desire." There's one more too: in the single video "They Speak of a Hero" (with the singing lums), that was based off a song I had written named "Shrieking Dusk," and those lyrics were the lyrics to the chorus. I'll post it here sometime so maybe some can hear. The reason I hadn't before is because the song is very dark, edgy and deliberate, and could potentially be almost borderline offensive. Nonetheless, it's one of my personal favourites.Shrooblord wrote:You know it actually sounds more like an actual song than game music
The loop was actually one of my main focuses, and I think it turned out well as well because it's almost hard to tell where the loop starts and where it ends not having heard it before I would think.Shrooblord wrote:The last track really gives you the sense of a cold, dark and lonely place where there seems to be no way out, though it's got a magic atmosphere in it as you tred through its pathways. Very nice, they look exactly like the trees! I quite loved that movie. It seems to work surprisingly well despite only having two faces.Spanex wrote:So, I'm really feeling very inspired by The Lorax that I saw today in 3D, and I paid some quick homage to it. Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Rayfan I've sent you the plot of a side story I'm thinking of putting in the book. I want to know what you think of it.
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Yes, they are already two-sided. But I've got a feeling I can do better than this. I think about improving the model. I don't know how to make this thing as fluffy as possible without looking too flat like it is now. I also thought about adding an abandoned axe somewhere.RayFan9876 wrote:Very nice, they look exactly like the trees! I quite loved that movie. Edit: I improved the bark texture and the tree is using just one plane instead of 4 now. I think this can be done easily as long as the tree can only be viewed from one angle.

How about a fairy having something to do with that tree?

How about two? Thing one and thing two! Oup, no, now I'm mixing up my Suess. Perhaps you could have Rayman stop at a BnB somewhere to get some green eggs and ham. Or not. Yeah, it'd probably be best not to.TeensieKing wrote:How about a fairy having something to do with that tree?

Or just a damned axe.
