Re: Rayman Origins
Well, the spanish voice actor who put the voice to the turtles in Rayman 3 is the same person who put the voice to Patrick in Sponge Bob

Wasn't Rayman's french actor also David Gasman?Haruka wrote:What's ironic is that the French voice actor of Rayman voiced Disney's Hercules in French version.
EDIT: Emmanuel Garijo, the french voice of Disneys Hercules, was also the voice of Rayman in the animated series. My bad for not looking it up.

Re: Rayman Origins
Rayman's Polish voice in Rayman 3 was Fred from Scooby Doo. Okay Murphy let's split up and look for... Globox and my hands.

Re: Rayman Origins
I honestly didn't get any sort of Rayman 2 or R2 prototype vibe at all. I really like the idea of the darker, watercolour style, though The environment still is just looking too "ordinary" to come close to cutting it for me. It looks... so... uncreative. I like the new artstyle (the dragon not included, I hate that dragon), but the environments look just uninteresting.Drolpiraat wrote:This is still no indication that he wasn't talking about Rayman Origins 1 at the time of the interview.Spanex wrote:viewtopic.php?p=672393#p672393 You're welcome.spiraldoor wrote:Would you like to point out precisely where this news contradicts anything I have said?Spanex wrote:And this is where I exclaim to Spiraldoor...
"I told you so"
All that aside, is anyone else getting a Rayman 2 prototype vibe from some of the screenshots? I know I am, for the dragon one especially. At the same time though, that art style (especially the dragon) looks like something out of a bad 3D series for children.
I'm sure it will turn out to actually look pretty neat though. I like the idea of a "darker, almost watercolour art style"...

I knew there was something strangely familiar about that image – it really does look like the Hercules game.Drolpiraat wrote:Whoa, that's exactly what I thought when I saw it at first (except that I played it in DOS).Danone wrote:Holy cow, those graphics remember me to the Hercules Videogame for PS1.

Second of all, as I've already said, it hasn't been officially confirmed by Ubisoft, so don't get too excited just yet.

I don't know what to think...
I guess I'll just wait for proper confirmation before attempting to formulate an opinion.

Re: Rayman Origins
That's exactly what I was about to say. I wouldn't mind a new art style, whether darker or not, but hell, castles and dragons? Greek gods? That's just horribly uncreative and the screenshots we have here only comfort this opinion. They could as well be from any lame, soulless game, and that's definitely not up to the standards the series has gotten us used to.RayFan9876 wrote:I really like the idea of the darker, watercolour style, though The environment still is just looking to "ordinary" to come close to cutting it for me. Re: Rayman Origins
That's why I'm kinda worried about the final quality of the game by watching these screenshots. They can't necessairily reflect about the final product but still... I'm kinda scared if RO2 won't be as good as RO1. We wanted to see a more Raymanish fauna and flora, and what do we see? The total opposite.

Re: Rayman Origins
Surrealism.
That was the basis of Rayman's art style.
This here world is just too physically believable to be any good.

Re: Rayman Origins
I mean, look at the first screenshot.
It looks like Rayman got a Spiral Door to Planet Earth in plain High Middle Age. I hope they won't tell either that this happens in the Glade of Dreams.

Re: Rayman Origins
Aha ! Here's good news !
I like the "supposed enemies" on those screenshoots. The monster on stilts is like the Stumblebooms in Rayman 3 ! And the dragon looks like an enormous version of Spyro. Maybe it's a wink to this character ?
And this banner with Start wrote on it... Is it a new version of the Tricky Treasures levels ? Or maybe something like in Rayman M ?
But I'm waiting a confirmation of Ubisoft too...
of Rabbids Travel in Time for a Rayman game ?!
Oh no ! Please Ubisoft ! Don't do that !

Re: Rayman Origins
No it doesn't, and no it isn't. The dragon looks nothing like Spyro other than being the same shade of commonly used baby-purple.boomboleros7 wrote:And the dragon looks like an enormous version of Spyro. Maybe it's a wink to this character ?
Also, sorry, I know this is a nitpick, but there's no space between words and question/exclamation marks in English. It's just like "This!" not like "This !"
Re: Rayman Origins
Eh, to be honest, I'm not too excited for this game. I agree with quite a few people here, it's getting too Earth-ish.

Re: Rayman Origins
meh, haters gonna hate. Sincerely, when was Rayman supposed to be Un-earth-y? (I'm talking about the 2d series), you will always find levels in Rayman completely based on earth's culture; we all know it's set on it's own universe, but come on! you're whining too much just for an environment that slightly resembles greece. What about everyone's favourite world, Picture City? a world made with pencils, brushes, erasers, and has a "Mona Lisa Rayman", tons of stuffs that are not "imaginative" and are totally based on earth elements. The same thing with Band Land, Desert of Dijiridoos, Child World (in RRR GBA), Gourmand Land and Moody Clouds... I'm sure that ubisoft knows perfectly what it's doing, I suggest to stop complaining about a non-confirmed "earth-y plot" and wait for some good info.
Now, I just can say that I personally dislike the new artstyle (It reminds me somehow Rayman 2's artstyle, though it looks kind of boring in 2d... Isn't that Dragon the bastard son of Ssssam and Spyro?), i hope that changes... I mean, the "Ren & Stimpy"-like animation was perfect for it.

Re: Rayman Origins
Look, Sergio, if you continue to call us haters, you can get the fuck out. Our opinions are our opinions. Your opinions are yor opinions. Most of us believed that the series had its own atmosphere to provide. If they want to drop that and go for a stereotypical Earthbound atmosphere, then they can do that, but it really is throwing away something they had.
You also mention how many of the environments in Rayman 1 were based off of realistic environments. Exactly, they were BASED off of them, but it still leaves a lot to the imagination; the way the platforms and environments were constructed. In Origins, it basically looks like an envirnments straight out of a slightly fancied up Earth. Really, even R2's environments were a little Earthy, but they we're extremely surreal. Origins' are just right there in front of you. They try to shove everything onto the screen at once and it really loses that mystical/mysterious/surreal feel the others had. The world just sea flat and first-impressiony to me.

Re: Rayman Origins
To be honest, I think this... Well, sucks. Yeah.
This reminds me of those cartoon games that are based in the real world, like Bugs Bunny and such. In fact, it kind of reminds me of Bugs Bunny Lost in Time.
But Rayman had (has?) his own distinct atmosphere. And while I'd normally love classic Greek stuff, it just doesn't fit here. Same for the Stumbleboom and the dragon, it's as if someone decided to print screen them in Rayman 3 and put them in this 2D game. It doesn't fit.
I honestly don't like this at all...
