It wouldn't be such a bad idea if the Rayman Universe had some kind of Olympus-esque theme for a competitive game. Think of a renewed Rayman Arena, but in 2D.

Remember the Raybrawl idea we had?

Aha. You mean the dead thread on the fanwork forum? I remember that.

Anyway, I just can't see Ubisoft pulling this greek-style world off. I would rather wait another few years for them to make another awesome game with a deep and epic sotry and great levels than them just making an unoriginal game. I think it's too early to form strong opinions just yet. Everyone just calm down and count down the days till E3.

On another note, I BEAT THE LIVID DEAD YESTERDAY! To be honest, after listening to many of the comments on this thread I think the Livid Dead was easier than I expected. I also beat tricky treasure #10 on the same day, all I have to say about number 10 is: DAT SPIKES. My fav part of the Livid Dead was definitely the skeleton snake part. Easily my favourite part in gaming, ever. Well, maybe just behind firing a portal at the moon and watching everything get sucked into space. But my favourite piece of music in RO was on the third part of the Livid Dead level. Namely, this: http://hosting.raymanpc.com/raytunes/mu ... 0Dream.mp3
Especially the part at 1:15, when they replace the instrument with human voices bum-bum-bumming along to the music. Anyone else think that part was epic?

I'm totally with RayFan in here.

Try to call me hater again :|.

I already said I can't give a solid opinion yet since this is a pic of a game in development and E3 is still aproximately 1 month away, and until the game's release there's a lot of development and changes to happen. I, everybody else, also barely know anything about the game.

I am only concerned about the final quality of the game because these pictures honestly and sadly do make me feel worried about the Rayman Origins sequel, instead of getting very excited. I see more Earth elements than a Glade of Dreams fauna and flora. Almost a Raving Rabbids: Travel in Time sceneary. For now I'll keep low expectations to avoid for now for any possible stab in my heart.

I hate to say this too but while we all were struggling to see Rayman back, now we are struggling to see the Glade of Dreams fauna and flora back.

It's funny because I think you guys only read the first phrase... which is just a simple copy-pastable phrase used very often on the internet o_O

What I'm saying is that a lot of people here are complaining about the "earthy plot". Nothing has been mentioned yet, though, just some references to dragons, mythology and stuff. That's not weird at all, Rayman series had references to mythology since the first game, if they have ideas based on a greek environment (possibly just one single level, come on) that's not the end of the world. If I'm wrong, and the game is set in the earth and the glade is forgotten again, we can all hate the game, that's no problem

I'm with you in the art part, though, the art sucks... and yes haruka, it looks a lot like Rabbids Travel in Time and that worries me too, let's wait for the best on the next e3 :confus:

Glad to see that they will at least go for a new artstyle.

For it to be a good game for me,there should be more returning characters, like Sssam,Carmen,Uglette, more of Moskito maybe...

I always loved Greek mytology, but not in a Rayman game. It's not my final opinion but from what I've seen, that world seems too uncreative.Next, they'll kick out Globox and Rayman will make a new pegasus friend lol.I'd get back something like Candy Chateau and Picture City and then use the Toy world in R4's artwork.

Do you think music will be more R1/2/3-ish again? Or will stay similar to that of RO? I think it should go back to its origins too lol

They were? All I see is bland looking forests, caves, pirate ships etc. The most surreal thing I've ever seen is the Cave of Bad dreams, but just me I guess...

Let's check the pictures...

Image

Ok, some people judge the game's new artstyle for being "too different from Rayman's original style". This picture spells "Rayman 2" everywhere. The dragon, as I said before, resembles Ssssam a lot, and the new enemy looks like some sort of cripple Polokus.I can't say anything about the environment, it's some kind of burning castle, I don't know, but it feels empty... where are the platforms? is this just a beta or something? I hope so.

Image

Even though I like the amazing colouring, I don't get it, what's the point of this level? it doesn't have platforms, and has a "START" sign, is this some sort of bonus level?

Image
Like... what? ghost mode? online co-op maybe? who knows, I'm sure that this famous trailer will come out soon. E3, I bet.

Image
Is it me or they changed Rayman's sprite? I don't see the linework, maybe because of the low quality of the picture, but it looks like...some kind of 3d (or clay) model o_O. Lums are back, and there are some new...electoon-like diamonds? and a chest... and a ghost... uhm.

Okay, that is pretty surreal. Slightly dull coloured, but surreal nevertheless :P

When i saw these diarea pictures yesterday, i was shocked. Tell me someone those pictures are fake. Couldnt that be possible? Is the source even trustworthy?

I also definitely dont want Earth stuff, i want Raymans world! And ENOUGH of making fun of Greek mythology. Many American movies and games were already doing that. But the French Ubisoft Montpellier...DONT THEY DARE!!! And the smallest thing i want from the next Rayman is 3D!!!

Im still waiting for E3. That diarea could well be a fake.

Do you know what else is featured in ‘many American movies and games’? Forests, mountains and caves.

I didnt mean that 3D with the glasses, i meant 3D. There hasnt been a 3D action adventure/platformer Rayman game since Rayman 3. There had to be in 06 but it was cancelled. I like 2D, but now its totally time for a three dimensional Rayman game.

By ‘smallest’, I thought you meant it was what you wanted the least, not what you wanted the most.

Stumbleboom? where? I just see a guy on stilts.

Also you guys are the only people complaining about this. On my game news website everyone is saying "HOLY SHIT I'M SO EXCITED" while you guys are like " :ouin: IT'S NOT LIKE OUR PRECIOUS RAYMAN 2 BWUHUHUHU :ouin:" Rayman 2 wasn't even that good. Bland grass levels, bland cave levels, and bland pirate ships. And Spiral, the hall of doors was just a world map, there is no reason to get so obsessive over it.

I thought you guys were cool, I thought I had found a fandom that WASN'T terrible, but no, instead i slowly found out you guys were like the sonic fandom. good job :tssk:

Ehh? Where did you get this from? To my idea a very few people are complaining over this. I myself don't want to judge until I see more footage so I can get a better idea of this whole thing.

I meant exactly at least. I want that the most. Sorry my bad english again.

American movies and games have been using Greek mythology a lot. Theres Disneys Hercules, Crash of the Titans, God of war and many others. Okay they arent that bad. I just sometimes think that if there was a Greek mythology movie or game that was made by some GREEK company instead of an American one, it would be MUCH better and it would use the spirit of the myths the right way. As a half Greek myself i think that would be right.

Well Michel Ancels team could use Greek mythology the right way maybe, but WHY WOULD THEY? In Rayman games there needs to be RAYMANS WORLD, with Rayman, Globox, Grand Minimus, The 650 Babies, Uglette, Carmen, Betilla, Clark and many other glutes, teensies, fairies, enormous monsters, giants, whales just to name few of the fantastic creatures of the Glade of Dreams.
