(Problem) Rayman CE2

Post by Kysgrinn »

Hi everyone,

I'm here becose i've got a problem with my old Rayman CE2 game, wanted to install it for my sister, but more i insist, more it become a personnal challenge.
This is what i got when i launch the game :

"Rayman says fatal error :
PCMAP\COMMON.DAT : Can not open

...
...
..."

I tryed to run the game with the DOSBox 0.74, compatibility Windows 95 or even by renaming the .dat extention, but nothing works.
If someone got a solution, i would be pleased to hear it.

Thanks you for reading and answers (Sorry for my english)

Haha, this is probably something better to ask on a technology forum, but you might get a decent answer here. one question though: what error do you get when trying to run it in DosBox? As far as I know, DosBox wouldn't give that kind of error.

I would go into my PCMAP folder and maybe upload my COMMON.DAT for you, but I don't have my computer at the moment.

Aside from running natively on an older system, XP SP3 is probably your best bet at compatibility with DoxBox.

You're probably best off asking Haruka, one of the moderators here for advice, since she has a functioning copy.

Since when I own a real copy of Rayman CE2?

Anyway Kysgrinn, have you tried out Windows' Compactibility mode? Try to configure it to Windows 98 or ME. It might help.

I though that you had uploaded a video about it? I guess that was something else.

I meant, installing the game normally by configuring the setup file of the game disc to "Compactibility mode for Windows 98 (Or ME)". This worked for me when I wanted to install Rayman Designer.
