Just to add to the comparisons between the Rayman series and the Asterix series, the new Viking betilla looks quite a bit like Abba from Asterix and the Vikings..
Picture doesn't show she also has missing teeth like the Betilla-like character. Obviously just a coincidence mind.
THEdragon wrote:Okay this actually looks REALLY cool! And Betilla looks pretty awesome too. I wonder what other playable characters they'll introduce.
I doubt that's Betilla... and if she is, what the heck did they do to ruin the rather pretty face she had in RO?!
Haha, oh well, I'm nearly certain it's not Betilla, since her hair is orange now, while it used to be a darker red.
Evident from the classical music and dragon/mythical beasts silhouettes (at the start) I don’t think this game is going to be the kind of game that dives into the backstory or the ‘legends’ of the rayman universe, rather it looks as tho the game designers have simply taken origins and given it a medieval-typed feel. Regardless I AM PUMPED
Some notes:
- Game has 3D elements, but the characters are still the same sprites that have been edited to look more water painting like.
- There is actually a couple cases where you can see frames of Globox sprite that have not been edited to the new colouring style yet, proving they are using the same sprites.
- Playable Betilla....I think? She looks rather different if it is her, maybe younger?
- Lots of online and offline mulitplayer modes.
- Wii U features: manipulate platforms etc with touch controls on the Wii U controller screen.
- Here's the biggie: Skylanders like toy feature. Shows a heart toy being placed on the screen that gives the characters more health/maybe some kind of invincibility.
- Shows a Rabbid toy being placed on Wii U controller screen, unlocks a level where you are beating up 2D animated Rabbids. Also hints at the Assassins Creed guy having some kind of feature, but only teases about it.
Mind blowing stuff, I'm hyped.
God! Rayman Legends is real and that's its real title...THIS LOOKS AWESOME!! I'm much more hyped than with RO! RL looks sooooo much waaaaaaayy better than RO!
Edit: Wow so cool! Things are getting better! No bubblization from what I can see! Coo,I never liked it.And I don't think that viking thingy was Betilla. They only resemble in head shape, and that viking has no wings or anything fairy-like.
My biggest dream for this game is seeing Ly and Razorbeard again. If I do,I'm happy by now.I always thought Ly should stay from now on,as Rayman's friend.
Not sure if people should really judge the music in this trailer...some of it is from back to the Future and some from How to Train Your Dragon. It's possibly placeholder music, and most likely a majority of it is not in the final game.
EDIT: Except for the music at the very beginning of course, as it's a variation of the Origins theme.

What do you think about those figures for Wii U? That is making me think that may be the best version, because Ubisoft may release DLC characters fro Rayman Legends via those figures
Good thing we don't get a shitstorm over Rabbids - they're not the problem itself, just the fact how Rayman franchise has changed because of them. Looks like we'll be having some lapine beatdown, which is sweet.
I’m not too pleased by the inclusion of Rabbids in the new game; since the cancellation of Rayman 4, they’ve evolved into really juvenile and irritating characters with a reliance on stupid and repetitive sound effects rather than wit or intelligent humour. The inital goal was Monty Python-style comedy, and all developers to touch the Rabbids property have missed that target spectacularly. Thankfully it seems that they’re simply an optional bonus feature in Rayman Legends, and not the main focus of the game itself; the involvement of other Ubisoft series also seems to undermine the significance of the Rabbids link. Even so, it’s a little saddening to see this sort of demographical pandering in a real main-series Rayman game.
I wonder what other series will be able to connect to the game? It’s a shame that Tonic Trouble is too obscure for the inclusion of any content related to it, as that’s the one game that it would really make sense to connect to Rayman. I suppose we may see some Beyond Good & Evil stuff if we’re lucky.

At least Rayman finally gets his earned revenge on them.
Any references to revenge would imply that the other Rabbids games have official status in the Rayman series. The best revenge would have been to ignore them entirely, now and forever, but it looks like that won’t happen.
When the guy in the trailer picked up the Rabbid toy and placed it on the Wii U tablet, I was hoping that absolutely nothing would happen, and that the player would then shrug and return to the game. That would have been glorious.
Do you guys think a Rabbid will be playable? Would be pretty cool,as long as Rabbids don't overtake Rayman again and the game is still a platformer.I have to say I don't really like the idea of other franchises' characters in RL but I'll have to deal with it.At least I can deal with Rabbids if they don't fuck up Rayman again,Rabbids have a good design in 2D.
Nice trailer, I hope the Rabbids are nothing but a mere cameo however.
I hope that the game remains fantastical and in another world and we're not going through Earth in this game.

True that. That would probably have made me giggle. But unfortunately that didn't happen. We can still always pummel them into oblivion.

We can't if they don't stop bringing them up in Rayman games

You've also transferred a couple posts that were only related to RO, so you might want to browse this topic and re-transfer the corresponding messages.
