Re: Rayman Legends
Looking forward to stuff like online football minigames and playing as a crazy viking chick with an axe.

Not sure what to make of the Viking girl. She doesn’t really seem like a Rayman character. Why not make Ly playable instead?

Maybe I exaggerated a bit, but I don't know how else to say it.Electoon wrote:Personally, I feel that Origins wasn't just a 'speed rush'. Sure, the gameplay was a little more fast paced in places, and they went for an interesting beat-em-up style combat system with the enemies (which I felt was pretty cool), but I think it held the balance between faced paced gameplay and careful platforming well (as a matter of fact, the jumping . I don't see how it's not a proper platformer!need my speed wrote: Well, Origins was more of a speed rush. I want a proper platformer.
Just my opinion though...
Re: Rayman Legends
so its still a prequel to rayman 1?
and if there calling this rayman legends i suppose the next one will be rayman chronicles? and will take place sometime in the future.

Re: Rayman Legends
I love it.
I love that they realized that colours and lighting effects really mean a lot for the atmosphere.
I love all the additional features like online play. This was necessary in Rayman Origins.
I love the the rabbids fighting level (and the other levels!) which other consoles might get as DLC. It's the Rayman 4 prototype but then in 2D.
I love that they actually included some surreal environments (take a look at 1:35 in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_efOu9-Y7g)
I love that there is one main enemy now (potato monsters? or whatever) and Rayman will have to fight armies of it (take a look at the same scene in the same video).
I like the music.

We might get that as the viking girl is probably not the only additional playable character.spiraldoor wrote:Not sure what to make of the Viking girl. She doesn’t really seem like a Rayman character. Why not make Ly playable instead?
That's probably about the "challenge modes" video we saw earlier.Janic wrote:"An internal video showing images of Rayman Origins' sequel has leaked over the Internet. This video was intended as a purely internal demonstrative video, and in NO way represents the final game, the final console or their features. This video was destined for internal production teams who often create game prototypes with work in progress development kits. Ubisoft confirms the development of Rayman Legends handled by Michel Ancel and his team in Montpellier."

The name could be maybe because it's located in Greecethat3Dguy wrote:so its still a prequel to rayman 1?

Re: Rayman Legends
I don't think so, because Rayman Origins wasn't either, except during it's early stages of development (like in the E3 2010 trailer)that3Dguy wrote:so its still a prequel to rayman 1?
Also well done to Droolie being the first person on here to be positive about the trailer, it's good to be different

Re: Rayman Legends
LOL ubisoft has one month to make a new trailer, because the one they were trying to show at e3 was leaked everywhere!
Ok, there's something I have to agree with Electoon; even though Rayman 2 was one of the best platformers of the era, it had one of the most bland and boring colour palettes I've ever seen; however, the bright colours of the characters and the fluid animation compensates it. Now that I see it in HD, it works perfectly, this is not a Rayman game, this is THE Rayman game. Let me talk a bit about everything.
The Logo: I love the Rayman Origins series logos, they're so surrealistic and weird, and have tons of random stuffs moving around and making weird noises. This one is amazing, more detailed, and more attached to the main topic; while an epic dragon (Murray with wings?!) surrounds the entire logo, a hand with an axe sticks out, and a small war between those weird polokus-like creatures can be seen, with a castle and a catapult. The Dragon spitting fire and making the word "Legends" with an amazing tipography appear almost made me tear.
The Medieval theme: I thought it was going to feature a fully "greek" theme, featuring gladiators with helmets, white structures everywhere and Gods. However, this world is based on warriors, grey castles and dragons. I think the medieval theme fits perfectly with Rayman's universe, we're talking about a world with kings, wizards, magicians, fairies, giants and dragons (RO had some), the medieval era is a good place to generate a good "fantasy story", at least for this game.
The Online: They needed this since the first game, I'm gonna play it for like 3 years. This could add some good interaction in the Pirate Community, like funny tournaments and stuff
The Toys: Let's face it, this game is gonna sell more than Skylanders, it has better art, better music, more interesting teasing material (fucking Ezio!!!) and at least has focus on the main character and his friends (unlike the poor, abandoned spyro). The Rabbid toy... oh boy, I'm not gonna lie, when I saw it, I saw a dream becoming true, I expected a world like this since the first RO, rabbids have good potential as enemies, not as main characters. I loved the concept of Rayman 4, where rabbids were that: JUST enemies; Rabbids were also interesting enemies in RRR GBA. For people who disliked the Rabbids, they can be happy too, because it's optional content
I think this is was Ubisoft was talking about when they said "Rayman and the Rabbids will meet again...someday" during the interview of Rabbids go Home. The Heart toy that makes you invincible during hard levels? pfft, that's for pussies; I'm not gonna buy it.
Now, about Ezio... listen guys, adding Ezio to a Rayman game is like adding Link to a Mario game, and that would be stu.... OH GOD WHAT AM I TALKING ABOUT?! IT'S A GREAT IDEA!! this idea totally came from the scrapped Megaman Universe, were you could play as different characters from different series but the same company. It's a good money maker, and a good way to attract fans of other series. It's also beneficial for those Rayman fans who dislike the idea and think that this game should be totally Rayman-ish, because it's optional. Everyone wins!
To be continued...

Actually, I was one of the few who defended the game like a crying lady for the 4 last days. Now everyone likes it because of the epic trailer xDGeneral Magma wrote:Uhh.. what? Re: Rayman Legends
Well Hunchman, here is your first post: (As I said, I did my best
)
Rayman Legends is an upcoming 2D platform game, and the fifth major game in the Rayman series. It is a direct sequel to Rayman Origins, to which it features very similar gameplay.
Shortly after the game's November 2011 release, Michel Ancel stated 'One has to know that Rayman Origins isn't just one game – we plan to make others, with retro 2D gameplay, and to give more and more details on the story.'[1] In March 2012, artistic director Christophe Villez hinted that a new Rayman game would be revealed in June, at E3 2012.[2] Also in March 2012, Bertrant Chaverot, the general director of Ubisoft Brazil, stated that Rayman Origins would have a continuation, but did not reveal any details.

Yeah, I guessed as much, though I wasn't sure. Well, at at least it's not as bad as the music from the last video.spiraldoor wrote:You may know this already, but the music is mainly placeholder tracks taken from film scores.Drolpiraat wrote:I like the music.
It also means they're going into the "epic" and "magical" direction for the music style, which is a very good thing.

I don't really qualify Rayman Legends as a direct sequel of Rayman Origins... both look so different. They just use the same engine and models from the first game, however, I'm not sure, because they haven't said much about the game yet.

But in all serious, the difference between the first two Rayman games was even larger then the difference here.

Re: Rayman Legends
I can understand the explanation of them having different gameplay, but I don't see why graphic style would separate them so much, especially since the only difference is the more dynamic shading and the artwork being more uniform.sergiomonty wrote:I don't really qualify Rayman Legends as a direct sequel of Rayman Origins... both look so different.
