Asterix has vikings, so I guess it wouldn't be too much of a stretch.

Ive seen Asterix and the Vikings, so when i saw the barbarian girl in the trailer, Abba popped also on my head.

Sorry Hunch, I choose the... "ignorant" side. I mean, you don't need to look too closely in ancient cultures when discussing about cartoon characters (mainly because we're talking about the Rayman Origins series, the second least serious games of the franchise after the rabbids). Questioning whether the red-haired girl is really a viking or not is like questioning if the vikings of How to Train your Dragon really qualify as Vikings and are historically correct. It's just a cartoon character, it's supposed to be based on viking OR barbarian stereotypes. Don't worry, I'll stop calling her "Viking Girl" when her real name is confirmed

A lack of seriousness is no justification to resort to blatant errors, particularly common misconceptions; if Rayman's world is all but serious, we might as well call frogs birds and birds frogs. Just be warned that any reference to this character as a Viking will be deservedly booned at.

What about we waiting for the official name of the girl?

For me she looks more to the barbarian side but I can also be wrong. There are no evidences that Vikings used horned helmets during battles.

Just did a post search, and it turns out that I was the third member to refer to her as a viking, as well as the first one in this thread. At this point I feel motivated to continue for no other reason than to be a massive fucking troll.

Well, he's reappearing in Legends as a major character like in Rayman Origins (I presume). Maybe he will reappear in later games, even in 3d games maybe something similar happened to bowser jr in Super Mario Sunshine, he's non canon, wasn't mentioned before, but suddenly started appearing in every single Mario game.
