Re: Rayman Legends
Was pretty surprised to find out about a new Rayman game when I thought I'd pop back on here. I don't mind it being 2D as Origins proved they can do a lot with this perspective. I will admit that I'd rather have had a 3D game, but I'm sure this one will be just as great as the others. Just wondering though, is this a Wii U exclusive or will there be PS3/XBox/PS Vita/3DS releases later?

Of course t's not a Wii Unexclusive. There was actually an argument about this yesterday.RayTunes wrote:Just wondering though, is this a Wii U exclusive or will there be PS3/XBox/PS Vita/3DS releases later?

I tried the "Forgot my password" option for my password several times, but the E-Mail never showed up. Tried again today and suddenly I had it.Rulez wrote:RayTunes you're actually back! Hooray then

Re: Rayman Legends
Since this game is supposed to be an Origins sequel (right?), I thought it may be possible the character we assumed to be Mr. Dark (and you described this character more than frequently as the 'one with long, spindly arms and a triangular hat') would make an appearance. And if there's the possibility to that, there's opportunity to discuss things - and I like the theories about Mr. Dark that tend to go round here once said conversation starts. I was bringing it up.spiraldoor wrote:I have no idea what you’re talking about.Shrooblord wrote:So Spiral, you expect the long, sindly-armed character to return to this game?
Also, I think I heard somewhere this was going to be a Wii U Exclusive, right? Didn't I hear this? Explicitly? That it is going to be Wii U Exclusive?
Re: Rayman Legends
Well, I wonder how they plan to insert the ability of putting rabbids or the heart in the game if it requires the Wii U screen to do it. Maybe that is a feature exclusive for the Wii U?Shrooblord wrote: Also, I think I heard somewhere this was going to be a Wii U Exclusive, right? Didn't I hear this? Explicitly? Re: Rayman Legends
I thought you were talking about the Paluchards or something. You could have just referred to him as Mr Dark – the text on the posters makes it perfectly clear that it’s him, and I can’t think of anyone else it could possibly be.Shrooblord wrote:Since this game is supposed to be an Origins sequel (right?), I thought it may be possible the character we assumed to be Mr. Dark (and you described this character more than frequently as the 'one with long, spindly arms and a triangular hat') would make an appearance. I strongly suspect that Mr Dark will be featured either in Legends or another upcoming game. The same goes for Jano. The developers probably wouldn’t have referenced these characters if they didn’t have plans for them in the near future. The images on the Magician’s posters may have been drawn up quickly and without much effort or attention to detail, but they may also hint at how Mr Dark has been redesigned for the next game.

Re: Rayman Legends
Exactly my thoughts! Why would the developers put in these references to older games, if not to tease for an appearance? Either that or they're just messing with us - but the French can't possibly be that cruel, can they? Can they?!

After years of giving up they could want to be cruel for once.Shrooblord wrote:Exactly my thoughts! Why would the developers put in these references to older games, if not to tease for an appearance? Re: Rayman Legends
I also believe Mr. Dark will appear in Rayman Legends or later. I have nothing to add to Spiral's thoughts.

RayTunes!
I don't really think Mr. Dark will appear in RL. And I don't even want him to. It's nice having returning characters, but if R1, R2 and R3 all had their own badass final boss, why must we keep living in the past turning back to the same character over and over? I think it would be better to get over Mr. Dark and get a new enemy. And I still think Razorbeard is more likely to reappear than Mr. Dark...Just saying. However I'm not sure about this, sure it's possible to have a Mr. Dark reappearance.

Re: Rayman Legends
The more I think about Razorbeard leaving, the more I suspect he's just cut his losses and hightailed it out of there. I mean, the guy practically beat an entire army almost single-handedly. That Pirate's not going to make the same mistake twice.

André and Big Mama were pretty lame. I’d much rather have fought Mr Dark in those games.TeensieKing wrote:It's nice having returning characters, but if R1, R2 and R3 all had their own badass final boss,
Exactly how many times has the series ‘turned back’ to Mr Dark? I can think of zero examples.TeensieKing wrote:why must we keep living in the past turning back to the same character over and over?
You mean like in Rayman 2: The Great Escape? And Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc? And Rayman Origins?TeensieKing wrote:I think it would be better to get over Mr. Dark and get a new enemy.

Re: Rayman Legends
Rayman Origins kind of turned back to Mr. Dark. He appeared in R1, you wanted him to appear in RO and he almost did and now you want him in RL again. And the series turned back to Mr. Dark when they made Mr. Dark be the evil guy in RO till the reveal.spiraldoor wrote:André and Big Mama were pretty lame. Agree with Big Mama being lame though. André...you actually fought Reflux, who was creepy and ugly, but a decent boss.
I'd prefer a totally new badass guy rather than Mr. Dark again. To be honest, he isn't even more iconic to the series than Razorbeard or André actually. He is appeared in one game (if we don't count RO), just like the others.
Anyway I know all the points I'll give won't be shared by you, and most probably by anyone else either.
Re: Rayman Legends
But he's the most evil and heartless of them. Razorbeard, true, is cruel and all but still has his weak sides and you know what he's capable of (which isn't much, he just commands a huge army) while André is just a joke. Mr. Dark however is evil in every way possible and you don't even know his true potential or power. Thus he's mysterious and that makes him all the more evil.TeensieKing wrote: I'd prefer a totally new badass guy rather than Mr. Dark again. Re: Rayman Legends
Mr Dark doesn’t appear in Rayman Origins at all. The developers originally planned to include him, but they didn’t. His name is mentioned exactly twice, and both occurrences are missed by most players. So no, he is not ‘the evil guy in RO till the reveal’.TeensieKing wrote:Rayman Origins kind of turned back to Mr. Dark. Reflux was a good boss but not a good character. For a comparison of their impact on players, compare the amount of fan-art and fan-fiction depicting those characters. Compare the length of their RayWiki articles. Compare the number of comments calling out for their return. The conclusion is inescapable: Mr Dark is far more popular and enduring. He’s just cool. The character design and the aura of mystery just resonate with players.TeensieKing wrote:André...you actually fought Reflux, who was creepy and ugly, but a decent boss.
I’m not confident in the developers’ ability to create a better villain than Mr Dark. They’ve been trying for the last seventeen years and they still haven’t managed it. I’d greatly prefer to see another game featuring the villain we all know practically everyone likes. It’s a sure bet.TeensieKing wrote:I'd prefer a totally new badass guy rather than Mr. Dark again.
The number of works in which a character has appeared does not indicate how good they are.TeensieKing wrote:To be honest, he isn't even more iconic to the series than Razorbeard or André actually. He is appeared in one game (if we don't count RO), just like the others.
Re: Rayman Legends
I underline again Spiral's replies.
No character was reused again in a main game, so what's that story of "its time to create a new enemy"?
I would love to see Razorbeard back since he's my favourite villain, and quite remarkable for me. I also would like a lot to see Mr. Dark back, because he's also a quite respectable evil character due to its mysterious way to be.
Now Reflux, no thanks. He was a good boss in Rayman 3, but as Spiral said, I also don't think it was a good character. André was more like Shrek's Donkey but with Prince Charming's personality: never stop talking and annoying.
Reflux can rest close to Leptys, and André being flying around as a Red Lum, all happy.

It explicitly showed Mister Dark leave though. I don't know how that qualifies as 'dead.'sergiomonty wrote:I'm pretty sure that Mr Dark is dead... I can't imagine him returning. However, I would like jano to return.
