If this is a Wii U exclusive, it'll be both sad and stupid. From a marketing point of view, if you compare the Wii U's hardware to the PS3 and X360's hardware, accounting the potential price of the Wii U (600 aussie dollars), you see that many people will stick to PS3 & X360. Therefore making RL a Wii U exclusive will screw over Ubisoft. (in my opinion)

Onto happy news, it seems Ubisoft has been keeping an eye on our forum, because they're intergrating cages into the levels themselves. I'm loving the new style of the LotLD, especially the skeleton hands holding eyeballs and the rockstar grannies. The gameplay looks great (but I'm worried that there'll be too much emphasis on co-op, something which my household lacks. Seriously, no-one else in my family plays games.) and the way the music synchronizes so well with your actions is a very big positive. Something else no-one here has mentioned is the fact that you can do mobile airborne attacks. In RO you would come to mid-air standstill if you attempted to attack something/one. Also, seeing the dragon carrying the teensie cages gives me a tingly feeling that we'll have to attempt to break the cages while the dragon flies around. Finally, the whole game looks alot more 3D and depthful (I know that's not a word) all from being launched through multiple rings of a fire to further back area of a level, to Rayman simply turning his back on us as he walks through a doorway. Loving the game so far!

I Love Rayman Legends, hate its exclusiveness.

Now that i had a few hour sleeps i tell you my opinions a little.

Rayman Legends looked really great. I loved the environments, enemies and especially animations. The part in LotLD REALLY ROCKED!!! I cant say my direct opinion yet because ive seen just a little. The RL part showed only gameplay but not the story. Im interested about the story.

But that of being A WII U EXCLUSIVE, THATS WHAT I HATE! NOT THE GAME, BUT THE EXCLUSIVENESS! Thats why i used rough words some hours ago. Rayman series dont need stupid exclusives. Rayman series is meant to be playable for all.

I still stand by what I said, and doubt RL will be Wii U exclusive.

Wii-poo exclusive, now? Oooooh snap, that's might be a flop in the sales department, unless everyone's willing to buy a Wee-you!

As for the video. Hm. I must say, it looked impressive, but to quote Electoon, GIMMIIIICKs! The level designs looked amazing (Although they don't carry much of a Rayman vibe) and the gameplay looks fun, but... Old ladies rocking out on guitars? Really? That humour is kinda cheap/overdone in my opinion.
Besides, we all know who played a guitar in a Rayman game before it was cool.

Let's hope Legends is not Wii U-exclusive, that would be extremely disappointing.

Are you serious? :boon: This port received critical acclaim, and there's no way they could have done better given the limitations of the console.

They did a similar thing in R1, with the pirates riding frying-pans. What, you got a problem with frying-pan pirates and rockstar grannies?

EDIT: Why is everyone so intent on believing this game is Wii U exclusive? I know what's been posted about it, but use that dusty old thing in your noggin. Would it really be that smart to make it Wii U exclusive? Besides, there's still plenty months till the game's released, anything could happen.

What!? Yes they could. The PS1 had numerous games that were much bigger. Don't tell me that a system capable of running Ape Escape wouldn't haven been able to run a complete version of Rayman 2, because that's bullshit!

But look at the detail in Rayman 2's environment. Ape Escape looks like a wasteland compared to the amount of textures, models and landscape in Rayman 2. Notice how even the Nintendo 64 had to cut back on the graphics, but still ended up with less than 30 FPS at some parts? The PS1 was even less powerful than the N64, and thus it obviously had to push the bar lower.

They could have removed some of the detail and added more actual content. That would be 'done better' in my book. Few PS1 games actually ever looked good anyway, and those are all 2D.

They already removed as much detail as charmingly possible. Look at poor Rayman, his nose is a hexagon and his feet and hands are basically triangles. You'll also notice that a lot of the environmental assets are actually missing. Many of the textures are also a lower resolution.

Don't forget, Rayman 2 was famous for both it's gameplay and looks.

But mostly its gameplay, because it's a game. They should have focused on getting every gameplay element ported first, and then try to see what they could do with the visuals.

It's cool that they added some extra stuff, but it doesn't make up for all that's missing.

Am I the only one here who isn't bothered by it being a Wii-u exclusive? There's probably a good chance I'll get one at around launch [provided it doesn't have any games that primarily target old ladies and doesn't make it go into shortage like it did with the Wii!] as there is also Just Dance 4 and Rabbids Land [sorry for my little "theme park will be next Invasion environment" mistake, this now sounds like it will indeed be a Theme Park type sim], plus maybe what Nintendo itself has to offer so yeah.

Not sure how looking at two screens is going to work though, looks a bit confusing if this is going to be as fast paced as Origins was.

It would be nice if it did become multi platform somehow though, just keep the fingers crossed I guess.

I probably won't get a WiiU anytime near its launch, but maybe eventually, if it gets even more interresting exclusives.

I've watched the E3 live yesterday, and now I'm sharing my thoughts:

- Just Dance 4 for Wii U, in the start. I prefered the last year's E3 start.

- Far Cry 3. I'm impressed with the realism in the animation and graphics.

- Splinter Cell. Same reasons above.

- The Marvel game (Forgot the name now). I found its presentation too short.

- Shootmania. Boring. (Aswell all the presentator's conversation in this phase)

- Assassin's Creed III. Looks quite good.

- Watch_Dogs. Interesting gameplay mechanics.

Now, Rayman Legends. I was hoping to see Ancel but it appears he couldn't come this time.

My biggest surprise was the fact that Murfy will be a playable character, I'm happy with that. The co-op seems to be much more interactive and improved if compared with RO: it is not anymore a co-op of "I'll get more Lums than my friend", but yes a "if we all want to proceed we must work together as a team". I also like the fact that you can save Teensies in this game, and they are now spreaded in the landscape while yelling for help. I find this better than the "secret" rooms of the Electoons. I also liked the background interaction you do with Murfy with the Wii U's touchscreen. Am I the only one that loved the electric guitar remake of the Land of the Livid Dead music (That appears to return with... Rock 'N' Roll grannies! XD)? In this specific part I also particularly loved the syncronization of the gameplay with the music, it makes me feel like I'm watching a movie, and it helps to create impact in gameplay (that looks also not as fast paced as in the previous game, that tended to make players rush the levels). (Did you also notice the skeleton arms that hold eyes? I find it Rayman 2-nish. :D) In the beginning, the game looked inspired in How To Train Your Dragon because of the dragon we see at first. The enemies look like Livingstone-Pirates for me. So far, Rayman Legends looks like it will put Rayman Origins into the corner. Overall, I did enjoy the RL presentation, although I'm worried about something: Murfy seems to be a playable character exclusive of the Wii U controller... will that mean that RL will be for Wii U only? I do hope not because I don't have 400€ (counting with the game) to spend right away. And the fact a person is forced to buy the console to play it (That will be expensive too), I believe this will provoke low sellings. I hardly can see this now going to PS3 or PC with all of this.

@Spiral I had no idea that it was possible to write something in the Latest News section of the portal, I thought it was Administrators' exclusive. Or are you the only moderator that can do that?

Hhhm, I don't think that's due to less detail, they have just given Rayman much more angular features lately. Remember when he had a round nose? XD

I'm sure your all dying to hear my opinion of the preview shown at E3, well tough, I might make a full opinion later but I've ony got 3 minutes to type this, so i'll give a quick outline.

I'm, surprisingly, impressed with Legends' preview, it looks more promising than origins looked (and IMO, turned out) and in all honesty my only complaint so far seems to be murphy being a playable character, seeing as I hate the smug bastard, but even then thats only a minor complaint I can overlook, and I don't mind if its wii U exclusive to be brutally honest, and I'm pretty sure it wont be, just that the features of the wii U version won't be in the PS3 and 360 versions.
