The atmosphere is perfect. The description, the lyrics and the video fit together perfectly.
It's very sad and dark and eerie at the same time, but that's how it's supposed to be. I'd give you an internet, but I've already given you one. Damn it.
There's my opinion for you. ;)

EDIT -> Just watched it again. I love it. At about 2 minutes in, there's some falling dust/lights. It almost looks like tears in this context. Beautiful.

Really beautiful it certainly captures an eerie atmosphere. :mrgreen: :bigup:

I just went to have a look at the artwork from the cancelled Rayman 4- you could always add spirals, Cuckoo clocks and engraved numbers if you ever feel like adding anything extra.

Sorry but I can't watch the vid experiencing the true stuff. I'm at my father's (where the only benefit is I can stay up the whole night), and the best quality vids I can watch are 240p. NOT WORTH IT.

This is epic. I love how the sad music perfectly fits the dark colours and the rain in the Temporal Palace. However, I've seen things made of wood. Wood usually brings a warm feeling, so maybe I would just change those wooden clocks into stone or white marble. But that's just me. Congratulations, I love it.

So I watched this now, and deer lord, is this beautiful. The atmosphere is just perfect, along with the music, as it really gives that depressing feeling that all is lost - even though Rayman is supposed to keep on going. The gloomy fog really holds away all the secrets of the wonderful, yet mysterious Temporal Palace - it really seems hard to guess what kind of challenges and major elements await in it, waiting to strike the player, unleashing a load of creativeness. Especially the context really gives me major chills, as you included literal death without any implications - just a front-on, unforeseen eye-opener. Something that gave me similar vibes was Jade's terrified voice on Beyond Good & Evil while finding out that the Lighthouse was completely destroyed, and the children she took care of were gone, destined to never come back to Hyllis. Continuing, I would like to give you a tip - if you want a small, eerie detail that would really give an effect on the player, you could include a few (yes, only a few, almost unnoticeable) clocks which are very clearly broken, their arrows miserably trying to move, but only vibrating in one place, making a muffled tic sound, being a metaphor for that life isn't just a perfect time-waster for fun and games, but that even the most accurate, innocent ones will fall apart sometime - which is exactly what just happened in Rayman's life. I think this is a fine description of why the Temporal palace is my favorite of your worlds - not only because of the design. Because of the whole experience, and the struggle to save your friends' life while you still can, and where your last hope is also my favorite of your original characters - Rhook the Vulture. I love the idea of him being the guardian of this place, as it's a very nice example of breaking the cliché of vultures always being the greedy, evil ones that live only to make life worse for every creatures they stumble along. I like your clever breaking of that stereotype with making him the serious, yet helpful and caring master who is able to and helps Rayman. The journey while riding on him will shape up to be a great experience too, I bet. Storywise, I guess the clock will turn the gears of time, eh?

That is a lovely video, Rayfan. The singing felt very Muse-inspired. ;)
The atmosphere is really good and sad, yet doesn't really reveal anything at all, which makes it all the more mysterious. I do wonder what awaits us in the depths of the Temporal realm! I would say more, but I think Rulez pretty much caught my trail of thought accurately enough already.

Temporal Palace looks amazing. Though I'm kind of confused how a main room would look if there isn't any walls, plus if there isn't any walls then where would the main clock (the one that Rayman breaks) be?

Perhaps the wall is hidden by fog or you simply return to the 'other end' of the 'room' when you surpass a certain border, much like a world that loops back in on itself when you reach its 'end' boundraries (and this would be amazing).

Sweet! :mrgreen: Your observations are extremely helpful, especially this one about the tears. When I think about it, that's probably what I might have subconsciously been thinking in regards to the falling dust/light, but I really couldn't place my finger on it beforehand.

Thanks Acarr! Cuckoo clocks will definitely be present, though they may look somewhat less friendly than when they are of a sizable proportion.

The wood was actually (more thinking involved) a slight symbolism of decay and age, which is also visible from the toppled and bending clocks. Marble and stone generally represent the exact opposite almost, such as strength and durability through age, and almost all the remaining structures from the past have been made of stone - memory. How many old pieces of wood would you see lingering around that are thousands of years old?

Holy shit, Not to sound like I'm choreographing the emotion of my own track, but reading that while listening to the track again in the morning now almost made me cry, especially the way you described 'literal death without any implications - just a front-on, unforeseen eye-opener,' and comparing it to Jade and the Lighthouse. Because really, it is exactly what you described. There's no sugarcoating, even for something in Rayman's world, because the concept of death is just as prevalent as ever. I mean, I wouldn't even know how to dance around the fact that everyone dies, it's impossibly confusing.

As for Rhook, you're right. There's a slight common metaphor in there that was mostly unintentional (since I naturally like vultures), and it's (lamely) a bit of an equality thing. It's nothing much at all, especially considering Rhook is more powerful than any mortal being, but he's just someone doing their job, constructed to be eternally faithful, and no one can disagree or offer less than utmost respect from the most basic of all logic. It almost goes hand-and-hand with everyone else having been killed - Rhook is the essence of wisdom and clear thought, and whilst being literally unable to show emotion, is able to console Rayman with pure sensibility and wise thought.

You see, there's almost a conundrum here. If Rhook is supposed to guard time itself, why does he allow Rayman to fiddle with it? I haven't actually come up with an reason myself, but I have the feeling the question will answer itself soon.

There are walls, though they're purposely hard to see. Let me grab a shot without fog...

Well, that's a valid point as well. Although stone and marble could give the sensation of an everlasting sensation of pain and failure in life?

Maybe you had that feeling because their bassist is in my signature xD And I think it would be cool to see Music Mountain having part for different music styles. For example a more rock-ish path with electric guitars, basses, drums, etc. , another more classic part with piano, violin, etc. and all that. At least I'd completely love a rock part.

You can't make up things like that from the ground, at least not without heavy implication. Since when have stone/marble meant pain and failure? Statues are made of stone/marble, and they represent memory, strength, success and idolisation, not the opposite.

Well, if you conbine stone/marble with the music it gave that vibe to me. Anyway wood doesn't look bad. I'd probably use a darker texture though.

Rayfan, I would like to inform you that chapter 18 (the first chapter of the side story) is almost complete. Once it's finished I'll send it to you and you can tell me to either continue to write the side story or leave it out of the book all together. I should note that in order to understand the chapter you will have to know the stories I have planned for Mount Collapso, The Billowing Dunes, and Canyon of the lost. I'll explain them to you in the PM.

Sure! I'm eager to read them. :)

I like this more, how you're sending them in bulk instead of one-by-one, because it's far easier to keep track of what's happening then.
