Wait, what do you mean by in bulk? I hope you didn't think I was sending you the chapters for Mount Collapso, The Billowing Dunes, and Canyon of The Lost. I have writers block, I'm still stuck on chapter 7. I meant that I'll explain the plot of the other worlds so you could understand some of the things in this chapter. If you would like I could start sending more than one chapter at a time but I only have chapter 18 today.

From now on I'll send more then one chapter at a time. Sorry that I can't do that today, real sorry.

Don't wait! Question the things that are possible!RayFan9876 wrote:As for Rhook, you're right. There's a slight common metaphor in there that was mostly unintentional (since I naturally like vultures), and it's (lamely) a bit of an equality thing. It's nothing much at all, especially considering Rhook is more powerful than any mortal being, but he's just someone doing their job, constructed to be eternally faithful, and no one can disagree or offer less than utmost respect from the most basic of all logic. It almost goes hand-and-hand with everyone else having been killed - Rhook is the essence of wisdom and clear thought, and whilst being literally unable to show emotion, is able to console Rayman with pure sensibility and wise thought.
You see, there's almost a conundrum here. If Rhook is supposed to guard time itself, why does he allow Rayman to fiddle with it? I haven't actually come up with an reason myself, but I have the feeling the question will answer itself soon.
Now Rhook is a deity of time, so he knows everything that happens in the future, present and past, right? Does he care about what happened at the time Rayman meets him? Is it important enough of a reason for him to alter time? If not, then what if Rayman convinces/tricks/persuades him? What if they make a deal? What if somebody else, of equal rank (or perhaps even higher, assuming he's not an actual god) as Rhook himself, convinces/persuades him?
While I'm there, have you thought about anything that would make Rhook visually fit more into the world he lives? Personally I find it a little difficult to fit him together with the theme. As much as I'd like to share the same opinion about vultures, he's still a vulture, and stereotypically...yeah, you probably know what I mean with this. I advise a little something extra, like an accessory that implements his theme of time. Now would be a good time to think this over since you're modeling him.

@Rayfan9876- I do like the bendy grandfather clock
Kinda reminds me of Salvador Dali's paintings.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
If you were to get very serious about this feature, you might run into some serious storyline problems: if he knows what will happen in the future and has always known, how can Rayman ever trick or pursuade him? The only reason I could think of that Rhook would want to help Rayman in such a scenario is that, exactly because he knows the future, he also knows that he must help Rayman - that he will always help Rayman and that that is what will happen in every possible outcome of the dice rolls of fate. Therefore, any pursuading on Rayman's part will only be realised if Rhook purposefully toys with him, so to appear to not want to help him at first, but, as was his intention all a long, help him out in the end.Spanex wrote:Now Rhook is a deity of time, so he knows everything that happens in the future, present and past, right? That's a very good point. The vulture needs something to bind him to the Temporal Palace. Perhaps he could have some kind of clockwork with him. Maybe his 'lair' is perched up on a really high structure that appears to be a massive clock. Vultures always have nests looming over the abyss, so that would fit.Spanex wrote: While I'm there, have you thought about anything that would make Rhook visually fit more into the world he lives? Dali was actually a big influence for many of my surrealistic ideas.Acarr wrote:@Rayfan9876- I do like the bendy grandfather clockKinda reminds me of Salvador Dali's paintings.
@Spanucks & Lordy:
Yes, as a fourth-dimensional being, Rhook can physically see the past, present and future. When you said "he also knows that he must help Rayman," that's a very good idea. If he doesn't assist Rayman, the entire Universe could end due to Dark Rayman's influence. Not instantly though, it could take hundreds, even thousands of years, but eventually his reign would spread all the way across space until it destroys itself.
Maybe I could even have a bonus scene at the end where Rhook bows down in front of Polokus, because he knows he let a mortal meddle with time. Even to save the Universe, it was against the law.
About Rhook fitting into the environment, don't worry, he fits perfectly. Even though Vulture =/= Time, his ragged self fits very well into the place (I've tested it, it's almost like magic).

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Agree with everything. I'd make Rhook be a serious, had to convince character. Like that typical character who is very important in the world, but also very egocentric and doesn't think you or your plans are important. Maybe Rayman should have to take something to him or do anything to prove his strenght/pureness of his heart so Rhook agrees to alter time. I was thinking that you could use Ly in some way for this? Maybe you can somehow connect her with this and make her do something to help you convince him. After all, she is a fairy.Spanex wrote:Don't wait! About Rhook's appearance, I agree he should have some reference to time on him, but clocks and hands are se overused...
I was thinking about his wings being made of clock hands, but I now I think he'd look horrible.

Got it!R3fan2 wrote:I have sent you Chapter 18. Again sorry that I don't have anything else.
@Ugais:
Actually, Rhook isn't egocentric at all, nor is he hard to convince. Rhook is wise, and he knows what needs to be done. He's actually the one to show Rayman how the past can be rectified. Here's a piece of the script I didn't want to disclose, but I figured I might as well:
There's more obviously, but that's what's important.Script wrote:As Rayman clambered onto the very top of the giant Clock, a vast plane of wood lay in front of him. So vast, in fact, that Rayman wasn't able to comprehend the fact that he had made it up here alive, unlike all the rest. He stood absolutely still, panting and wheezing from the climb, just as the thick fog began to clear, revealing something that could immobilise any weak being by its mere appearance. An eye. It was boring into Rayman's head, into his soul. The eye was followed by a crooked beak, a large head, a long neck, a ragged body, awkwardly folded wings, and talons that looked as if they had the power to crush a fortress into a thousand pieces. The one eye, the one mysterious eye, filled with so much intrigue, yet so little salvation to offer; it brought Rayman down to his knees, hovering between cowardice and exhaustion. It only grew stronger.
Rayman looked up, eyes glazed, and shouted at the giant bird, "Take me then!! Just take me!!" He stuttered. "Please, they're all gone... I have nothing left, just end it now!" The creature's eyes narrowed and it began to close in. An expression of relief and despair washed over Rayman at the same time, as the enormous shadow of the vulture stole away his dignity, hope, and pain. Tears erupted from his eyes as the creature leaned in, his beak twice the size of Rayman himself.
After what seemed like ages of whimpering, Rayman opened his eyes slowly to see that the bird had not finished him. A warm, scentless breath wafted over Rayman, drying his tears all at once, and then it spoke.
"At this point in time... there is no redemption," it said in a deep, slow, raspy voice. "But in your time... it was possible."
Rayman slowly raised his head and moved his hands out of the way to face the big bird, still shaking uncontrollably, and managed to sputter "Wh- what do you m- mean?"
"This journey you have gone on, because you did not know where your evil counterpart was located." the bird backed off slightly. "After searching for the many secrets and passing through the Shrine of Myre, you have reached here, Le Palais Temporel."
"Y-yes." Rayman stuttered in bewilderment. He took a step back, out of the shadow, but the creature moved in again.
"Did you honestly think that... a detour this prominent would lead you to salvation?" the thing said monotonously.
"I- I don't know. I had nowhere else to go, this was my only change in blind faith that I might possibly be able to end it all."
"End what all?"
"Dark Rayman's reign...."
"Then so it is."
There was a lengthy pause in which it walked backward and stood up, revealing its massive, powerful talons once more, then settled down. "Rayman," it said in a more menacing and official voice, "Rayman, I am the Grand Vulture Rhook. I have been appointed by Polokus to guard the laws of time."
"Then so... what is?"
"Then you have not wasted your time."
Rayman's eyes widened.
"As I said, in your time, it was plausible-" Rhook was cut off by Rayman.
"But I don't know where he was-"
"I KNOW." The Grand Vulture blasted those words, resulting in an echo clearer than anything Rayman had ever heard before. Rhook was not one to be meddled with. Rayman shrank down, but the Vulture carried on as normal.
"In your time it was plausible. It always was plausible, and it always will be... thus are the simple logistics of time. I already know the answer, and I am here to aid you. Naturally, not mortals, and not even the Guardians have the privilege to alter the timeline that was designated to us. But, as a being who exists purely in four dimensions, it was not of my will to do so; it has been foretold, and it always will be."
In case you're wondering, Rhook has a deep Easteuro-French accent.
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Whoa. I think I know what to do for Temporal Palace. I hope you don't mind me putting that in the book.
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
A good idea! Same thing counts for having him apologize to Polokus for it. I imagine he's much of a forgiving type.RayFan9876 wrote: @Spanucks & Lordy:

Mebe. I actually just started the wings after finally finding a good 3D reference model. But for no reason, in the last hour I decided to make my very first traditional 2D animation!Spanex wrote:Any chances we will see his model again soon?
