Continuity does not work like that...MLII wrote:Well, assuming that Cookie was originally going to appear in Ray1, it creates some sort of link between the game and the series, even if (as so obviously happened) the idea was scrapped later.

Re: Cookie Was Set to Appear in Rayman 1?
Give me a reason how the animated series isn't canon, ignoring the animation quality and the lack of Rayman 2 charecters.
Not confrontational, just a question ^^

Re: Cookie Was Set to Appear in Rayman 1?
It’s a couple of years since I watched it, so I’m going by memory here, but all right.
The writing is generic Saturday-morning cartoon fare; dull as dishwater. I’m not sure of the story behind its creation, but it feels like an unrelated show with Rayman shoehorned into it for brand recognition, and I wouldn’t be surprised if that turned out to be the case. The only characters from the real Rayman series, namely Rayman and Razorbeard, are nothing like their counterparts in the games; Rayman’s accent alone shows you how little thought went into it. How can Razorbeard be an Italian robot who works in a circus, but also be an ancient genocidal warlord who has destroyed a hundred planets throughout the galaxy? The rest of the characters are an inexplicable bunch of weird surrogates who stand in for Globox, Betilla and so on. Aeropolis is a highly unfitting cartoon version of 20th-century society, complete with automobiles and apartment blocks. It makes no sense as a location in the Glade of Dreams.
Subsequent games make no reference to the animated series; none of its characters, locations or events appear or are mentioned, ever, in anything. I strongly believe that Michel Ancel and Gabrielle Shrager would have at least acknowledged the animated series in Rayman Origins if they considered it to be a legitimate part of the Rayman series.

I could describe R:TAS being canon in two words: continuity migraine.
Re: Cookie Was Set to Appear in Rayman 1?
EPIC BUMP OF PAGE LONG PROPORTIONS (Sorry folks!)
But, as more strange revelations about RTAS have been unfurling before our eyes, my mind suddenly cast back to this:
I guess the only way of truly getting answers is by:
A. Asking someone at Ubisoft/a worker on the TAS (although those were mostly Ubisoft workers too
)
B. Somehow obtaining a copy of the magazine for further inspection
Hmm...

While I still see it as both an F and a K, the fact that Cookie has been found under the name Fudge, still baring some resemblance to the magazine cover, suggests that this theory could still mean something?RayFan9876 wrote:Well that certainly is interesting. Though the letter on his shirt is an F, not a K.

Re: Cookie Was Set to Appear in Rayman 1?
That's a complicated thing, knowing how old is Cookie as a character and how many times was used in the universe of Rayman. I think it would be "easier" getting a copy of the magazine, that is as rare as diamonds.
Re: Cookie Was Set to Appear in Rayman 1?
Even all image evidence that hasn't been re-posted by me of the mysterious magazine has gone off the internet....
One thing I am pretty certain of though is of Cookie/Fudge's role in Rayman 1 - that he was going to replace 'Raygirl' (from the SNES Prototype). The evidence really is in how similar their shirts look. So basically, I think he was going to be Rayman's best friend and Co-op companion, and then they made it a single player game and he was scrapped. It's nice how they re-use scrapped designs and ideas sometimes
, they should definitely do more of that in Legends (lots of nice scrapped stuff in Origins to work from here!)

Would that mean, Cookie would stay as Rayman's best friend, and in the TV Series, instead of Cookie we would get Globox and people would hate on him and mention how Cookie is a better character with an actual personality?Electoon wrote:Even all image evidence that hasn't been re-posted by me of the mysterious magazine has gone off the internet....

I dont really like Cookie. Complaining about everything all the time and never seeing the brighter side. Seriously, what a pessimist!
Instead a character in the animated series, that i really liked, was the car eating, one eyed, giant cow. She would be an impressive boss in a future Rayman game (even though chance for that is 1 in a 10000).

Oh believe me, RayTAS would be COMPLETELY different. LacMac is based on Globox. Just bear that in mind.Rulez wrote: Would that mean, Cookie would stay as Rayman's best friend, and in the TV Series, instead of Cookie we would get Globox and people would hate on him and mention how Cookie is a better character with an actual personality?

You know what I think? I think he doesn't actually give a shit about half the stuff he whines about, he just does it to piss Betina off. Unfortunately his whining makes her even more bitchy to him so he does it more and...basically it's kind of like how RayFan pretends to like Twilight to piss off Spiral o3oMammothphant 2 wrote:I don't really like Cookie.
