The laptop I’ve been using for the last three or four years is currently on its death bed, and I expect I’ll have to buy a new one shortly. Does anyone have any advice as to what sort of specifications I’ll need? I’d like to be able to play new PC games at OK settings for the next couple of years at least.

Odd, I've had my laptop for over 5 years and it's still going strong.spiraldoor wrote:The laptop I’ve been using for the last three or four years is currently on its death bed, and I expect I’ll have to buy a new one shortly. If you want to play PC games at good settings, make sure you've got a GPU that isn't Intel.
I'm not well versed into laptop GPUs, but I think a branded GPU from AMD or Nvidia should outperform an Intel IGP.
Re: Off Topic
Sadly the "cheapest" gaming laptops I can recommend are from ASUS (Republic of Gamers catalogue) and TOSHIBA (Qosmio catalogue) but I would personally go for an ASUS if I had the chance to upgrade my laptop to a beast of gaming.
My current one that has got 2,5 years is from Hewlet-Packard (Pavillion catalogue) and it works fine for most of the games I have. In the other hand, games like Rayman Origins, Portal 2 and SPORE lag a little for me since my CPU and graphic card aren't powerful enough to run those perfectly. Portal 2 can get playable with minimum graphical configurations, and SPORE still lags a bit with minimum graphical configurations aswell.
I don't know if a laptop bought now could handle the games I've mentioned above but it would be cool.
Concerning brands, I would advice you to look for HP and ASUS. I heard that Acer and Dell aren't big deal for those businesses.
