Re: Rayman Legends
I get the feeling that Barbara will prove to be Legends's answer to Tily. She doesn't suit Rayman's world at all.

Re: Rayman Legends
I can't say I'm a big fan of her either, compared to the more fantastical creatures like the Bubble Dreamer and the Teensies and so on, she looks...too ordinary.

So, here we have Barbara the Barbarian. Cool to see some new stuff again, particularly after the thread died in so many ways
The music was pretty cool. Not in a really Rayman-y way, but I still quite like it - seems there going for a rock music theme this time, with this at the 'Platformer Hero' section. The funny thing is, I was trying to remember how this track (in the Barbara video) just went, and it morphed into the theme from Sonic Adventure in my mind
EDIT: Hey, I'm one of the first here again! Why does this keep happening with Legends and me

Re: Rayman Legends
Concerning the discussion about game difficulty, plot and sequels, I think this article explained it quite nicely (it's been posted here before): http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/1 ... re_of_.php
Basically, it says that game developers should find the exact balance between difficulty, fun and other factors to give the player something that it keeps referring to as 'flow', a feeling of complete harmony with the game. For some, this may seem like gipsy hippy voodoo mumbo-jumbo, but they've got a point: you want to feel good and want to 'be part of the game' when you play it. You don't want to not know what's going on and you don't want to be so frustrated about completing a challenge that you forget how much fun you were having beforehand.
Also, spiral, I thought I had to mention that all of your replies were both incredibly accurate and hilarious. The Rayman 2 Alot made me laugh. So. Hard.
Now then! More content from Rayman Legends, eh? So the Barbarbar-girl was no failed leak after all - she's going to be in the game for reals. I think if they would just tweak the character just that little bit to make her seem more mystical, even by doing as little as giving her either a tail, facial markings (that may or may not light up in certain conditions), arcane tattoo-like imprints or a good backstory, that she would fit in real nicely. She would still be far too human for my tastes (fom this game series), but she would fit in better than just being some random person they came across while venturing in one of the new worlds. I'm just assuming that's the most logical way she gets introduced. She needn't have floaty limbs; it's more than obvious UbiSoft are trying to sweep that old idea under a rug, but she should have at least something that connects her to Rayman's world to not make her stand out that much. She's just to obviously pasted in as something... other.

Re: Rayman Legends
I hope Barbara (heh... the name fits for a "barbarian" girl) is actually a character from one of the paintings and not from Rayman's world, but she joins the gang to help out the other paintings/worlds too. That would explain a lot and would be a great way to add her to the game.
If she's just there like that or if she's said to be some kind of badass nymph (like Tily was supposed to be a small and badass fairy), I hope the rest of the game isn't like that.
Really nice art and animation though. Looks waaaay better than Rayman Origins.

Wow! Barbara actually looks very fun to play as.

Re: Rayman Legends
At least it confirms that the girl is a barbarian, as I expected a while ago.
See how they could be saving new videos for Gamescon?
Maybe we'll have more.

Re: Rayman Legends
Looks like Ubisoft has got their facts set straight with Barbara. So anyway, I kinda like her, but to me she is of no priority for returning in the future. (ha, like that's going to happen.) I would rather see older characters return, cause you know. I miss Ly.

Re: Rayman Legends
Barbara is probably the viking equivalent of Betilla. I can't imagine playing as Betilla (at least not Rayman-style, maybe something like Murfy would work). And she has this awesome axe. And music is great too. Can't wait for Gamescom!
Re: Rayman Legends
I'm neutral to Barbara, I don't dislike her. I wonder if she's the only playable human character but for me her is enough. I guess Hunch is unlucky: she isn't a prototype character.

Barbara could maybe have some relation to Betilla possibly? Who knows!
Can't wait for more info.

Re: Rayman Legends
The first thing I thought when I saw her for the first time in the leaked trailer was "HOLY SHIET BWALS VIKING BETILLA!", so go to hell.Rulez wrote:MyBodyIsReady wrote:Barbara is probably the viking equivalent of Betilla.

Im glad she is not scrapped.
I really like Barbara ^^
Cant wait for more infos.

Re: Rayman Legends
Fat, we've been going on for months and months she is probably a barbarian and doesn't even look like a viking, unless you follow some really weird, inaccurate stereotypes.

It was my first thought about her, damn. But you're right anyway.Rulez wrote:Fat, we've been going on for months and months she is probably a barbarian and doesn't even look like a viking, unless you follow some really weird, inaccurate stereotypes.
Re: Rayman Legends
Of course I am. I also dislike this character. A lot of people have already said this, but she... just doesn't seem to fit in Rayman's world. Unless she is indeed one of the people from the paintings. That MIGHT be cool.

Well In Case You Dont Know. Murfy IS a Playable Characther in The Wii U version. In case only wii u is the console for the game, PS3 ,xbox, pc hasn't been confirmed yet
Re: Rayman Legends
Yeah, when I saw the leaked trailer, I kind of came to the conclusion that she was meant to be a storybook version of Betilla, sort of like the paintings are parallel universes of Rayman's World based on various myths. Hmm....I don't think I'm explaining this very well. Think of that random Sonic Storybook series, where Sonic was taken to worlds full of legendary characters that bared a suspicious resemblance to all his friends. Wait, I've been bringing up 'New Sonic' games today. Sorry about that
...
Seeing as her name has been revealed as Barbara, which also begins with a 'B', I guess that idea is not out of the window after all
Having said all this, it's just some random theory I came up with months ago, and it's probably totally wrong. It will now turn out that Barbara is indeed just some random vi...barbarian girl, and that she's the next Ly/Betina/Tily Betilla wannabe
(And while I wrote this, my cat Tily got very excited
)

Re: Rayman Legends
That's not a very encouraging thought. If the worlds inside the paintings are based on the same design philosophy as Barbara, I doubt they will bear much of a resemblance to anything in the Rayman series.Rulez wrote:Of course I am.
