The music was pretty cool. Not in a really Rayman-y way, but I still quite like it - seems there going for a rock music theme this time, with this at the 'Platformer Hero' section. The funny thing is, I was trying to remember how this track (in the Barbara video) just went, and it morphed into the theme from Sonic Adventure in my mind ! I guess that's what it reminds me of
Did the music remind you "Open your heart"? I love that song too.
I like that theres gonna be a lot of rock in RL. I like rock and heavy metal and it actually fits Rayman in my opinion. Thats a big plus.
I prefer Tily much more than Barbara, but the viking girl (XD) seems good too. The best would be if old characters like Clark and Uglette would be also playable.
Tily was an awful character. I'd rather play as Barbara, but she does seem a little meh to me. I'd rather have something more, ehrm, fitting.
Personally not so sure if I like the music. Music is defenitely one of the most important aspects to me, and the rock from the later Sonic games makes TunakTunak Tun played on a high pitched flute sound reasonable (Awaiting a boon for that comparison). I guess I'll just have to deal with it, but I hope it won't be purely rock.
Lol, looks like Hunch's mighty boons worked... She's not a Viking, she's a barbarians xD much like the case of the Lividstones... They're not pirates, they're bandits, god damn it D: <
I'm ok with Barbara, she's not that awful. And yup, I believe the theory about her being part of a painting
Rulez wrote:Of course I am. I also dislike this character. A lot of people have already said this, but she... just doesn't seem to fit in Rayman's world. Unless she is indeed one of the people from the paintings. That MIGHT be cool.
That's not a very encouraging thought. If the worlds inside the paintings are based on the same design philosophy as Barbara, I doubt they will bear much of a resemblance to anything in the Rayman series.
I thought that was already clearly visible in that medieval castle world.
Electoon wrote:Yeah, when I saw the leaked trailer, I kind of came to the conclusion that she was meant to be a storybook version of Betilla, sort of like the paintings are parallel universes of Rayman's World based on various myths. Seeing as her name has been revealed as Barbara, which also begins with a 'B', I guess that idea is not out of the window after all
I don't think they named her Barbara so it would look like the name Betilla. I think they named her Barbara because she's a barbarian.
Sidequest: Who knows why the barbarians are named barbarians? First one to get it right gets the grand total of 25 Tings.

So, Legends hasn't died on us yet. Any confirmation of the release date, or is it still "should be within the year"?

Oh come on, anyone who took Greek classes should know this. "Barbarbarbar" was how the Ancient Greeks described the sound of the non-Greeks' language. So the people who didn't speak their language were called "barbaroi".

But you'd be surprised how little people follow Greek classes. You are correct sir, 25 Tings for you. The Greeks were being fairly racist by describing all other nations' sounds as resembling the sound "barbarbarbar". Therefore, all foreigners are 'those who say "barbar"', or in Greek, 'barbaroi' (βαρβαροι).
Every Rayman game is different to varying extents, in both gameplay and aesthetic experiences, making the term 'Rayman game' itself seem somewhat ambiguous.
So Barbara isn't so much a 'Rayman character' as a 'character from Rayman Legends', but depending on how you look at it, Rayman Legends isn't so much a 'Rayman game' as a 'game with Rayman and related characters'. After all, Ubisoft's exploring the new framework, and they've gotta use their own trademarks for something.
Anyway, I'm more interested in the final quality of the game than if Barbara should be included in the game or not.
I read a preview in a magazine few days ago when I was in an hypermarket and they were confident about RL being better than RO. They only complained about the chaotic multiplayer in Legends.
Am I the only who doesn't really care about the co-op aspect of these games? Also why did we get Tily, Lys horrible little abortion of a sister and why now do we have to endure Betillas butch sister D:I mean come on, they managed to make Murphy a playable character whats wrong with good old Ly? Whats their excuse for not including her in any game past rayman 2 is she a pain to animate or something?
As much as I support Bzzit's standpoint, I think it's more than fair to then also consider the characters from R1 that never returned, such as the other Raymanian characters, though it's less than likely they will ever come back. And while we're at it, we might as well wonder whether or not the Knaaren should make a return, though this time in a somewhat less indestructible manner.

The Raymanians seem to have been replaced by the Teensies imo. However now that I think about many it have been slating the Barbarian lass for seeming "out of place" guys remember in rayman 1 we had an Alien who ran a restaurant in an underground cavern....um yeah
