Yep, this topic is usually updated by Rayfan with tons of goods like music, screenshots, or even gameplay footage in some cases.

Well in the midst of this huge gap of nothing to talk about, I am working on lots of stuff, the hardest part is just figuring out what to show and what not to show.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Anyway, when will you continue work on the Music Mountain and bring the ideas we discussed into life?
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Good luck, Rayfan.
We'll be awaiting.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
I'm dying to see what you show
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Downloaded and tested !
So, ~45fps with a Phenom 4,2Ghz, Radeon HD 6870 and 8Go DDR3... Needs little optimisations
Great work, in any case. You arrived to create a magical atmosphere !
PS: If it can help you

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Thanks Metal! Nice to see you around.
I read the entire log for some reason; it seems that the engine is trying to load far too many things that aren't there, even things that haven't existed for years and only in a completely different build of the engine.
Also, what was your resolution? 1920x1080?

Thanks
Yep, 1920*1080, 64-bits build. With 'low' settings, the demo run at ~90fps.
I can try to run it with 32b build, and paste the logfile.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Ah, good to know! That means that the different settings do make a good difference.
By the way, I've been implementing tessellation in the last couple days, and boy does it make things look smooth. As of now, every almost every object is tessellated, with the lowest detail ranging out about 200 metres, and the highest detail ranging about 10 metres. It works really well, props to Crytek for having such an efficient DX11 method. For example, here are some mushrooms with tessellation enabled:

Note the bumps on the top of the left shroom and the uneven billowing along the stem. Here's a crude wireframe of the tessellated shroom:

As opposed to the non-tessellated version:

That's a pretty extreme amount of polys if you ask me. Isn't this a bad thing?
Also tesselwhattie is lowering quality the further the object is right?
(edit: then came the low-poly model)

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Ok, a cheap Anisotropic Filtering, in fact
.
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Okay, I've googled about the effects of tessellation and that's pretty amazing.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
That's correct. And no it isn't a problem, since it's not rendered 'up-front,' DX11 GPUs have a whole separate compartment for taking care of tessellation. It's hardly a performance problem, because all the hi-polys are right next to you. When in relation to the hundreds of thousands of polys in the rest of the environment, a couple ten thousand are hardly a big deal when they're only within a 10-50 metre range.Spanex wrote:That's a pretty extreme amount of polys if you ask me. Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Er, no update this week. My new motherboard is giving me countless consecutive problems, and until I can work them all out, I can't even boot. The god news is that I got the new motherboard because I got a second GTX580, which means that whenever I get it working, mt computer will be twice as powerful as it was before.
