To receive some lovely money from Nintendo.
Oh... hmm, that might well be true :(
Nintendo always has a bad influence on Ubisoft. When the Wii came out Ubi liked it so much they turned Rayman Raving Rabbids into a freaking party game... otherwise it would've been a platformer.
I just hope they'll make the next game available for all platforms again.
You don't have to be a genius to understand why it is (for now) a Wii U exclusive.

I think the dark era of Rayman will have an end with the release of Rayman Legends, the RRR series are a thing from the past since 2009.

BTW... bad for you Haruka :( I'm pretty sure that the low sales will make ubisoft think more about it and port the game to other consoles... even if that means killing Murphy
Even how much I would like to get a Wii U to at least fully appreciate the game in its maximum with Murfy and all, it is pretty difficult at the moment. Really difficult. Only if a miracle happens, but I don't think there is going to appear anyone willing to offer the console packed with the game. And until there's a price cut of the console, I believe I need to wait for 2 or 3 years.

However, I would be happy if in the meantime the game would receive a port for PS3 and/or PC. As long as I can play it one day...

I decided to not read spoilers last year with Origins, but it wasn't quite worth because I didn't avoid "a lot". With this I mean, the spoilers were too disappointing in order to be "worth" waiting to reach the end of the game myself.

I just read an article on G4TV.Com on a hands on preview of Rayman Legends the closing remark was: "We can't wait to play Rayman Legends when it launches exclusively on the Wii U console FALL 2013!!!? Please tell me that was a typo.

Yeah that must have been a typo. The trailer that was released like 1 week ago said Christmas 2012.

I thought it was already over. I thought RO had ended it well. It's not the game of my dreams but it's sure good and a pretty cool return for Rayman.

Uhh, except there are multiple possible reasons. Even I can see three nonexclusive options: Nintendo's cash, controls focus and Wii sales of RO compared to other platforms. Now, are there any charts regarding how each version sold?

What do you mean by the dark era of Rayman? The time when the series was ruined by Rabbids games (bad thing=dark) or the time of the great dark atmosphered game Rayman 3 and the cancelled Rayman 4?

If you mean the second one i dont think the dark era ended. The dark era had a break for the new 2D games RO and RL, but when its time for the next 3D sequel the real Rayman 4, the dark era should return at least for that game, whether its the original cancelled R4 with the bunnies or with all new enemies and stuff.

I classify the dark era of Rayman the period of time between RRR1 and TVParty. We suffered most in here, not that much during the "development" of Rayman 4.

Well, for me it ended with TVParty, but RO doesn't fully convince me that Rayman is really back. I thought he was, but not exactly. I'll wait for Rayman Legends and expecting an improvement, but I am also willing to see a future 3D Rayman game with approximate quality with R2TGE.

I agree with you fully. Rayman Origins didn't fully convince me that Raymans back. Even tough his first game is 2d but still. A new 3d game with the quality's as R2 would be good to see.

Rayman Raving Rabbids wasn't that awful... I mean, it had a terrible ending, and most of the time you're just waiting to get out of the jail to see if you can "start the adventure" (which never begins), but the minigames are quite entertaining, at least for a spin-off. RR2 however was abusive, it didn't even have an ending and some of the costumes proposed in earlier versions (Darth Vader and Naruto) were scrapped; ubisoft ended up giving us an incomplete game with an incredible lack of minigames (you can beat it in like 3 hours or less)... but it was still pretty fun in multiplayer. TV Party was way better, it had excellent multiplayer options, but it was terrible for Rayman's reputation; it just depicted him as a lazyass coward who doesn't know how to throw a fist.

This gives me a conclusion... Even Rayman's worst games... are still kinda good, unlike some Mario games.

Sorry i thought by "dark" you meant the great Rayman games with dark atmosphere. Misunderstanding.

@Sergio I think Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 is the most enjoyable in mini-game content. There are some fun mini-games to play alone or with friends, and I also like the variety of costumes for either the Rabbids or Rayman. The FPS minigames look more entertaining in here too than in the previous game, that I found too long and derivated from each others. It might not have an ending like the previous game, but I think the intro is much more entertaining. At least the awfully mutated Baby Globoxes don't appear, I hated how they looked in RRR1. Are they really called Baby Globoxes? :boon: Unnecessary design change!

RRR1 is ok, it has good minigames but others....... uuuuuuuh.... It indeed has got a disappointing ending, and trolled people like me that at the time I was thinking that the platforming game would start in there :pfff: . I don't like how difficult it is to get a score in every minigame in the Score mode, especially the 10000 milestone.

RRRTVP is the worst out of the three. Why? There are minigames with grave gameplay glitches, more specifically in the mini-game controls programming. In the "tetris" one and "Star Worse" there are commands you draw that aren't detected as correct, while the visual shape does is close to the wall you must across. The dancing games suffer the same problem: some moves aren't recognized as correct, and the same thing applies for the music games that got harder even in apprentice mode, there are moments that the controller movement isn't even detected when you are sure you did a move. Because of stupid things like this, it is ridiculously hard to beat Rayman's score and achieving the 100% in TVP. I think the only thing you win in here is more costumes just to be used in a minigame whose victory entirely depends of luck, so I guess I don't lose anything in not completing the game entirely. Other big issue in this game is how derivated and recycled it is. Most minigames are just the very same thing except in a different course, it ends up tedious. One of the most boring ones is the Loto one.The strength of TVP is definitely the 2D Animations but it isn't enough to fix the other mistakes. We also have no idea why Rayman is running away from the Rabbids instead of fighting, but we aren't quite sure that the story happens in the Glade or in Earth since there aren't real evidences for that. Finally, although the game accepts the Wii Balance Board, it is useless because it makes minigames (only some accept the accessory) even harder to play, and it is already enough the controlls not being detected well in regular gameplay!

My favourite was RRR1 in every aspect. I liked the minigames the best, it actually had some sort of a story, you could play as Rayman (if only even for a one-room space), it held up the Rayman atmosphere as we knew it, it retained a sense of dignity, and it seemed to have the most care put into it. I thought RRR2 was just awful, and I haven't even bothered playing TV Party.

Before RRR1 came out, I'd seen some early gameplay vids. But those videos were from the time when it was still supposed to become a platformer. So one day I saw RRR lying in a shop and I immediately bought it, only to find out that it had been turned into a collection of minigames... :(
I haven't touched it since. It must still be lying around here somewhere, lol.
I haven't played any Rabbid games after that. Well, a few years ago a friend turned on that Rabbid TV party game at a party, but I don't remember much of that.

I've played RRR1 and 2. RRR1 was ok, RRR2 is awful. Now the only Rabbids game I'd bother to play is Rabbids 3D because I'm curious, and the new one they're making (forgot the title) looks fairly fun, so I may try/watch.

I played a minigame collection of Rabbids games for the DS once. They were fun, but not anything especially noteworthy. I have to give them that their 'DAAAAH's can sometimes be adorably funny. I also once played a 2D platformer on the DS with Rabbids...? I don't remember what it was like, except that I didn't really like it. It was ok, but again, nothing special.

Sometimes I think that the Rabbids just started out as some awful joke or parody of the Rayman series. I mean, look at what they did to the Baby Globoxes; they can't be serious. I'm sure the Rabbids have added some degree of goodness to the franchise, but it's a goodness I have yet to locate.

I totally agree about the Baby Globoxes. Man, they look terrible in RRR. But they actually were going to look like that also in the Rayman 4 prototype (the scetch of the Emperor), so its not only RRRs problem. They should give the Baby Globoxes their old design and attitude back, whether theres gonna be the original Rayman 4 or an all new Rayman 4.

I didn't know what you were on about, cause I'd never seen the RRR baby globoxes... so I looked it up on the RayWiki, and I agree. Man... they look so bad... it almost makes me sick :tssk:
They should NEVER EVER appear like that in a real Rayman game!

Rayman Legends just got an award at the Gamescom 2012 as "Best Family Game" and "Best Console game... for Wii?!". Probably the awards are outdated, lol.

“This game, which exudes charm and sparkling ideas, offers parents and their children the same top playing fun. It is an incredibly funny gaming experience using the manifold controller options in the Wii U. It features uncompromising old-school mechanisms that are simultaneously unique and animated in a lively fashion.”
