The Lavomatrices are recycled washing machines, so I guess bubblization and electrical attacks do kinda make sense.

Due to Rayman 3 having rather good Polish translation, the washing machine (and country toilet) part was for once made understandable to us, so my friends started to come up with different stuff reused by Hoodlums. My favourite idea was the batter churn Hoodlum. Which for some reason included a vacuum. Other ones I remember vaguely were lockbox which escaped with your hand, mini-boss tractor and swarms of certain Nokia phones (yes, that's right - we cared about it because it was best mobile known to us by then, you could twist the keyboard and get a QWERTY one with screen in the middle).

Hoodlums sourced from various home appliances. The possibilities are endless.

Not sure if it counts as Rayman 3 but I've started playing Hoodlum's Revenge on emulator. It's alright. I hope it resolves the cliffhanger at the end of Rayman 3. I'm at the Dungeons of Murk right now.

I would consider RHR story to be good, given the media. However don't expect a great script, okay? It would require another font. And that's too bad.

The script is ok to me, but nothing remarkable. But it intrigues me how can André's spirit from all sudden possess Globox's mind and body, knowing that André should back to a Red Lum form. It is kinda confusing, unless we can especulate he kinda died physically (either in Red Lum or Black Lum form after R3) but his spirit didn't get guard by Jano.

--SPOILER ALERT--

Well, at the end of R3, you can see Ray's hands bringing a Black Lum back to life. Couldn't this event trigger André to come back at some point? And about that 'it's a flashback because you can see the moons moving backwards' argument: how do you know that the moons moving 'backwards' indicates a flashback? Maybe that's the natural way they progress along the sky as viewed from that part of Ray's world.

I think it makes more sense being a flashback than a deja-vu. At least this would explain how in first place André got in Black Lum form.

I've never thought of this before - that's actually a brilliant way to look at it. From now on, this is how I accept the canon.

That's how I never envisioned it before visiting Internetz, but I agree it makes sense. But the moon argument, especially given multiple moons in Rayman's universe, is moot, and in fact it was very ambigous. For example the fact Rayman's hands detach voluntarily points to it being a cliffhanger, because unless you already considered it a flashback, it only makes sense that they would learn to detach by themselves after forced detachment (yes, according to flashbackers it wasn't surely forced, but how would you know that without the flashback?). Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but Globox's remark about Andre's origin is the first mention of it in game (not in the manual). So if you didn't expect a flashback, you would find it awaking hands' curiosity.

Epileptic Trees RHR explanation: Andre left a cuddle in Globox's head. For whatever reason, cuddle knew what happened to the rest of Andre, but it wasn't disgusted by Rayman's POWER, so while Andre and its creations got purified, cuddle did not. WHy didn't cuddle purify too and all the hoodlums did? Well, because they were a creations of Andre's hands, which were pwned by Rayman. Cuddle recreates Andre's consciousness and some of its power, RHR begins, period.

I don't know if this is a good idea, but what if by using his Grimace, Rayman permanently separates the Dark Lum from the Red Lum? And that the Spirit in RHR is indded Andre, but no longer connected to a lum?

As far as I know, the "flashback argument" is not actually an argument, it is Word of God.

That's a link above, in case you didn't notice.

'Tropes wrote:Note that a number of people reject the notion of Word Of God, considering something to be canon only if it appeared in the original source material, and that if the creator wanted a certain fact to be canon that s/he should have included it in the work to begin with. Some people go even further, considering the uncertainty and ambiguity of canon to be a good thing and decry the Word Of God as shackling the imagination and interpretations of the fans — a belief supported by some modern literary criticism, notably in Wimstatt and Beardsley's "The Intentional Fallacy" and Barthes' Death of the Author essay, both of which argue that the interpretation of a work cannot be limited to attempts to discern the "author's intentions."
His name is Dark Rayman I say.

I like that thought. Still, the flashback thing just doesn't work for me. It seems, in the spirit of how the game was made, more likely that the ending was meant as a 'oh look it doesn't end there! to be continued! continueeeed!' as people often like. Usually that type of ending is just a joke to the viewer, but sometimes it is meant as an actual cliffhanger - who knows. In this case, judging the rest of the game's humour, I would say it's a joke and not an explanation, which is what it would be were it a flashback. A flashback not only doesn't work for me personally, it also doesn't make sense in the game's mindset.

I actually believe they initially, really initially expected the game to be the next SM64 in terms of receptions, so a direct sequel would be guaranteed. Then they decided that they'll leave the thing, because in case it would end up as an unresolved cliffhanger, they could just say it was a flashback. Which is what they did.

Then why did they make Murfy call it a low budget flick at the start of the game?
