With "less quality" I mean in-engine after-effect-wise. So lower shading quality for instance.
That image looks simply awesome though. It would make for a good way-too-technical desktop background :P

EDIT: I read your edit :)

Hello,

First off, I want to tell you how much I love what I saw about this game so far and thank the creators very very much! please keep up the GREAT job!

Second, I downloaded the game from the link provided, and I am using Windows 7 32-bit and followed the instructions yet the game gets stuck (not responding - http://oi48.tinypic.com/537j0h.jpg) as soon as I open the game file (Launcher.exe in the folder Bin32).

can anyone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? (as I already mentioned - I followed the instruction)

Hey, welcome!

I cannot help you with your problem, sadly, but I bet that RayFan can! She is the (only) developer of this game, though other forum members do contribute as well.

I just thought I'd post, since I saw that you were still watching this topic (at the bottom of the page) :)

EDIT: (Of course, just as I post, opeller decided to leave, making me look like an idiot :lololol: )

That thing I'm working on might take longer than anticipated. Just so you know.

A GT 240?
I'm not good with Graphics cards, but that's pretty low-end, not as low-end as my laptop mind you.

Well your PC isn't very powerful, but it certainly meets all the requirements to run CryEngine with at least 15-20 FPS. I'm trying to brainstorm to figure out the problem, but I honestly can't come up with anything. Or maybe I'm just tired,

I think it looked perfectly toony in R2, whereas here it has a more realistic style to it, but it fits the game's overall more-realistic style, so that's ok.

Looking at it again, I see your point, my short term memory must have warped how it looked when I made that post.

So let's begin critique :
This one is well drawn. But I don't really see Piranha's torso (u may have done it in purpose but it gave me a weird feeling). And his ankles are really thin. U should shorten them. Moreover i see that the handle and the blade of the dagger are not really in the same axis, just to be punctilious.

However the rest is fine, especially the gloves and the feather on the hat...

EDIT : Corrected after Rulez's advice...

Okay, here goes:

I like the clothing details, especially the multiple layers in the hat and all the random belts and buckles on the boots. Furthermore, the gloves look good with those little sleeves on them (though that is part of the other Rayfan's design) and the facial expression speaks volumes!

His ankles might be very thin, but I think that really fits the stylized style of real Rayman art (no, Rulez, I'm referring to the series here, not the character :rigolo2: ) It also puts emphasis on his massive feet, which balance out the overall emptiness between his cloak and his boots.

The ribbon on the dagger is a nice detail as well and I think that a dagger fits this character better than a blade (or that sword he has in the other Rayfan's art).

The only real negative points I could enumerate are that his dagger seems a bit crooked and that the fingers on his right hand seem to be connected a bit weirdly to the rest of his hand. Also, it is not really clear to me whether he only has a cloak, or a torso to go with it.

I saw what you meant as well. But it's always kind of hard for me to see whether you're serious or it's just in jest.

I like the expression he has. It is very much defined and has some subtle hints to it, like the slightly more raised eyebrow of his left eye. The thin ancles are exactly what he needs; they remind me of an artist drawing of Ly and I like that style on the series. Also, guys, there is a torso. Turn the brightness of your screen up. I believe it's even wearing something similar to the Bat Belt around his chest. The angle of the feet is quite good, but maybe his left one should have ended in a slightly flatter fashion a bit higher up. For some reason that's one of the two feelings I get when looking at it. The other is that it looks perfect and that nothing should change. :P
The gloves are well done, but I think the left hand has a weird angle towards the camera. Try imagining looking at your own hand from the angle that the viewer looks at his and then twist your hand to match what that one looks like. You can feel it feels a bit awkward in your joints, and it looks a bit awkward too. However, you don't really notice it - but that's something that I do notice, because I've worked on getting the hands right for so long that I'm a bit trained in it. The clothing is excellent in the way it curves and flows and the angle and pose are really nice. The only other thing I notice is that his nose appears a tad flatter on the underneath than it should. Now I have considerable trouble myself trying to draw a Rayman's nose from different angles, so I can't tell you exactly what's wrong with it, except that it looks a tiny bit too flat. The rest looks great though!
Also, I'd like to learn how to colour stuff underneath a pencilled drawing some day, if you'd like to teach me. I have no clue how you would go about doing something like that, except maybe if you isolated all the black pencil lines from the white background, put them on a seperate layer and coloured it in from underneath, but that would leave jagged, wrongly-selected artefacts in the pencil lines and I don't see those.

I'm pretty sure reduced color palette is intentional, but unless there's a very specific lory reasoning for it, consider increasing color variety of shoes. You don't have to escape the palette itself, but this solid feeling is something just telling me to at least consider changing it.
