Re: Rayman Legends

Origins was a pretty good recovery for Rayman from the Rabbids, I don't know what are you talking about, Haruka. It was silly, but not THAT silly. And Rayman Legends is practically trying to focus more in a Rayman 2 style, and Rayman's voice is no longer spongebobby. It's a slow transition, that's all.

*sigh* The situtation with the Wii U is pretty critic. I mean, is the console really going to sell? I'm gonna buy it because I sticked to my Wii for 5 years and I want a good HD experience but without a ridiculous catalogue of FPS games and with all of the Nintendo franchises that I love. But... that doesn't mean anything, nobody really knows about Wii U, not many people want a Wii U, because Wii left a mark of casual marketing and suddenly, everything nintendo does is supposed to be casual and gay. Not only that, but also nintendo isn't doing anything to make publicity to their new console, they're acting like freaking idiots. There are still people out there that believe that the Wii U is a gimmick for the Wii, or even a WII GOD DAMN UNIVERSITY, WHAT THE FUCK?! The catalogue of launch games is hard to digest, they gave too much focus on two areas:

-Casual Games
-Ports of games from previous years
-New Super Mario Bros games

I mean, I love Pikmin, but it was Kirby and Metroid's anniversary, why wouldn't they make amazing launch titles with such franchises? and why so much focus on Nintendo Land?!

Ok rage gone :3

Origins was indeed a recovering, but while it pleased people in general, it disappointed the fandom (at least the more ancient fans). Origins is not a bad game, I'm not saying that. It is still way better than the Rabbids party games (that I honestly have been touching them now only to play with friends, not alone, but I would replay them if a kind of Hall of Fame of the RRR games was made in RPC), but the game quickly turned on to be boring after being examined by detail. I did expect something epic since the first annoucement, after 8 years of wait for a real return. However, the game completely changed in an year of delay and while I thought it was still a pretty good game, I started to see the failures after replaying a 2nd time. I was so blind with the Rayman return that I didn't see the problems that RO had, for the fandom. Yes, I was with hopes of a R1-rebirth. A person can dream.

And it is notorious how RL approaches the R2 spirit, only with the different artstyle and the return of the Teensies stuck in several places of the screen (I actually like this). My opinion can't be fully solid in RL until I see final footage.

That's exactly what I am doing, comparing evolution of art in RL to evolution of art in R2. Take a look again.

We're not doing that...we're comparing Rayman Legends with Rayman 2... like... DIRECTLY. Not evolution from prequel to sequel, it's just that: comparing game with game.

Well Bzzit, the screenshots that you're showing now are pretty useful. I think we have enough proof to say that Rayman Legends is aesthetically similar to Rayman 2.

Even the character design is clearly inspired, I mean:

I can see how the ogre/monster resembles Clark and how the dragon resembles Sssam, but I don't see how that resembles Polokus.

Because of the Potato-like body, and the colouring!

EDIT: And the pants with the belt buckle!

Nice observations, but the green creatures also remind me the prototype Henchmen of R2.

So basically Legends is like a 2D version of Rayman 2?

I was really excited for RO and it pretty much let me down in first play. I haven't replayed the game. I've lowered my expectations for Rayman Legends, but it looks very good and I actually expect it to be much better than RO was. And have a proper story, I hope.
