Re: Divulgations about Rayman
That...is... AMAZING.
That reminds me that some years ago I showed to my classmates how ubiart framework works (we study graphic design). They were impressed by Rayman Origins, and by the fact that the software can turn art into a game, and I told them that ubiart would be released for public soon. Little did I know...

That was awesome!sergiomonty wrote:Yesterday, I shared music from the Moody Clouds at my Aesthetics class. I had to do a presentation about Steampunk and I needed urgently a good example of Steampunk music. The professor was delighted
Kinda reminds me when I was a kid and school was over. I was running back to my house while singing the Walking Shell musicElectoon wrote:Well, as this thread is alive again, I might as well post something that happened to me around this time last year. I was working on the school website, and to teach us how to edit and make pages, the teacher made us create an 'All about me' page. I couldn't think of anything to put on mine, so I just started writing about Rayman. When the teacher caught what I was doing, and continued to walk around the classroom while singing the Rayman 2 theme

There are times when Rayman music plays in my head when I'm doing something, like The Summit Beyond The Clouds theme when I'm gazing into the snowy distance in Winter.

I think that kind of thing happens to all of us.

During my schooldays, I used to sing Dark Globox Theme Song all the time. Nobody ever understood what was I singing

I use him in just about all my art projects, its' just so easy! It would always be a collaboration between Rayman, and a bunch of nintendo characters, doing it always gets me good grades. Being a gamer could put ypu at an advantage sometimes.

I totally agree with you! My case is similar. However my smaller brother is a FPS lover.Master wrote:I dislike CoD, not because of the game, but some of the idiots that plague it, however, I'm not too keen on the FPS genre overall, but I don't mind the odd game now and then, the only exception to this is Half-Life, because those games are awesome.
My tastes lie mostly in the Platformer genre, with games such as Rayman, Ratchet and Clank, Jak And Daxter, LittleBigPlanet, Mario, Sonic etc.
But I also play games like some of the older NFS games (Underground, Most Wanted), InFamous, Sega Rally and Transformers: War For Cybertron.
I consider games like Portal (and it sequel) to be absolute gems.
However, even with all those good games, Rayman will always have that special place in my heart for being the game that made me love video games (even with its extreme difficulty, surprisingly enough)

Re: Divulgations about Rayman
Heh, I wrote that two years ago, now, I'm indifferent to it, I don't play it, but I realise that some enjoy it heftily, and it's all in good fun for some, like my brother. My interest in the FPS genre has increased somewhat, I still hold preference to other things, but I don't mind giving FPS games a shot, I've tried out the likes of Crysis for instance, and I genuinely liked it.
I've yet to get Half Life and play through it, as I can't make personal online purchases yet, and my laptop doesn't have enough grunt to play Black Mesa, which is a pity, I really liked where it was going.
Of course, the one thing that hasn't ever changed is how dearly I hold the Rayman series, though as a more rational minded being, now.
Well, well, well, you fellows may want to look at this.

Okay, that seriously sounds so good that they must have got a few details backwards!Master wrote:Well, well, well, you fellows may want to look at this.

Re: Divulgations about Rayman
I think the FPS genre still has plenty good games being made for it, but over the last couple years they've been releasing so many that I'm just tired of them. Too many Nathan Drake clones and stories about some evil conspiracy.

@Keane
Are you sure you posted that in right thread?

The indie scene of the past year has been far worse, believe me.Keane wrote:I think the FPS genre still has plenty good games being made for it, but over the last couple years they've been releasing so many that I'm just tired of them. Re: Divulgations about Rayman
Indeed. I find that many of these indie games are using the fact that they're indie as an excuse for not really putting effort into anything. Take a game like Proteus for example. It's full of bullshit. No, it's not some amazing experience, it's an empty game that tries to appeal with the rather tired "Modern game in 8-Bit" look.Adsolution wrote:The indie scene of the past year has been far worse, believe me.Keane wrote:I think the FPS genre still has plenty good games being made for it, but over the last couple years they've been releasing so many that I'm just tired of them. It reminds me of World of Goo. People were talking about it a lot and when I tried out, I felt disappointed... I think it was because of its simplism.

Re: Divulgations about Rayman
I could swear, the only indie games currently being made are either tired "modern 8/16-bit" sidescrollers or "realistic" zombie survival(+/-)Minecraft clones. Of course there's the odd somewhat creative indie game running about, but how often do you see those?Keane wrote:Indeed. Re: Divulgations about Rayman
Bump.
Recently I showed a few friends videos of my recent walkthrough of Rayman Advance, they all thought it was impressive, though they had no idea who Rayman was
I also have this habit of listening to Rayman music while I'm driving, though sometimes that could be a problem for me since I use RayTunes, and since there's no playlist (maybe) function on it I have to often drive with one hand while keeping one finger on my phone at all times.

Re: Divulgations about Rayman
Well in 6th grade, I remember making a presentation about the Rayman saga (at that time from Rayman 1 to Origins I think) in craft paper (one of the oldest methods to do dissertations) I did not feel ashamed, not afraid, my friends they liked Rayman as I liked my dissertation, meanwhile my colleagues who did not know Rayman or minimal to see heard about him I am liking, they were very interested in the topic and they asked me different things about it at the end of my presentation , apart for 3 ° and 7 ° I was a fan of Rayman and I loved drawing it, I had more than 4 notebooks full of Rayman and his characters, there my friends were impressed and said "wow, you draw great" the others also not they knew about it, they said "draw well" especially girls.
For now, with a lot of experience in drawing and art, it is very likely that I will draw the mythical Rayman in its maximum splendor.
(For now I'm drawing different sketches).
