I was just pondering on what Rayman would've been like on the 32X, it still probally wouldn't be able to save the add-on, but it would have been the best game on the system considering the other 20 or so titles that were mostly poor excuses for video games that the system had to offer. Rumours say that there is an early Alpha-stage prototype that exists in an unplayable state somewhere.

It would look worse than DOS version, keep it in mind.

The quality would probably be about that of the Gameboy Advance.

Now this is debatable. Tech stuff follows.

GBA had 16 15(+trans)-colour palettes, right? Meanwhile DOS standard was 1 255(+trans)-palette. This means moving stuff from DOS to GBA was not so straightforward. But the developers did a good job in the end. That said, it was not impossible by any means.

Well, 32X had got MD/Genny chip with 4 15(...)-colour palettes with some shady shading shades that nobody used because they were shady, but it also holds its very own framebuffer with 255(...)-color palette which is shown over MD/Genny output and works the same way DOS PCs do - CPU draws stuff in RAM. It would be possible to recreate DOS version screenshot on 32X with no doubt. But drawing everything on the 32X framebuffer? It could be too slow.

I'm in no way expert on the thing, but I played Knuckles Chaotix a little and know a tiny bit about processors. The game in question has basically got two render "modes" for gameplay, and one of them is basically 3D with use of textures as limited as possible, which is kinda opposite to what R1 needs. This mode makes sense because one of 32X drawbacks was that it had two CPUs with one cache, and a small one at that. So when you load a small texture in that cache, you want to draw it like mad. On the other hand, flat-colored polygons (or even interpolated) are not that bad as long as you can skip the depth test.

The second mode is simple: 32X draws important sprites, MD does the rest (backgrounds for sure). This is would be probably what would developers do if, I repeat, if direct copying of DOS scheme would fail. Now, the more stuff they moved to MD chip, the worse would those things look compared to DOS version, as they would need a mega-color compression. In extreme case - that would not happen - of everything being moved to MD, game would look far, far worse than Rayman Advance.

On the other hand, they could move game logic to MD - or even, depending on how exactly Jaguar version works, copy it directly, as the main CPU was often ditched for good old 68k - and make 32X a dedicated drawing thing. Now that I actually think of it, this could work very, very well and the game would look just a bit worse than DOS version. But who knows.

The greater problems:
- Sound. Oh well. Jaguar version sounded bad anyway.
- Space. MD required extra chips in case your game needed more than 4MB, and 32X made the thing even harder. This could be worked around, but the game would cost much then undepending on those, for the sake of being bigger. Keep in mind RA, scrappy as it is, took 8MB cart, which basically means it took more than 4MB - maybe just a tad more, but more. So long, Gong Heights?
- Saturn. Oh yes, that was a big one. A platform almost made for R1.
Two of these are workable around with CD32X, but again, who would own this thing?

Godammit, you just made me interested in making a 32X R1 port as hard as it would be, in the very moment I need to focus on school for once.

If you did find the time someday to do so, and finished it I would buy a Genesis and 32X just to play that game alone. :P

It's very nice that he did this, but the only one I really liked was the Blue Mountains one - and then I liked that one a lot. The rest was fun to listen to though; the text is quite nicely thought of.

It's probably mostly to do with him running out of breath - I can't imagine someone going that long without getting a little tired.

I laughed at 3:42 - 4:00. Those rhymes were perfect and hilarious.

I'll help you out there. Mind, I can't guarantee it's perfect.
--SKOPS SEQUENCE--
Oh, shit! It's a scorpion
I better watch out for the claw he swings
If it's war he wants then it's war I'll bring
But every time he bangs on the floor I'm in
Trouble
There's only a couple of rocks
I stand on the one, the one's gonna drop
But I'm prepared - just dropped there
Helicopter hair! Watch him get scared
You'd better skip back, mister!
Thinking your bad with your big bad pincer
But you don't know I can do this
Hang on the edge and collect a blue bit
Then use the backwards I get up
And use the forwards I go back
I'll point out: you'll never get me
I'll never let you, I'll never mess up

I step up, in front
Coollack (?!)
Whatcha wanna do 'cause we can do this
All night
Then he go mad
Starting banging the floor
To cause a volcanic reaction
Nice over rock to stand on that's a platform, so why hop top?
Not long after first rock dropped in lava, he shot a spark
Whaddup with lava, it's drama, disaster - NICE - kusanata (?)
I've got on past the hard all-master, step back
No, you selpana, (?)
You best run from me
I'm chasing you - you run faster
Before I sparked ya
I hit the O, you run back,
I'm swinging blows - I'm swingin' left, I'm swingin' right
I jump and bust a little glide then run until I'm like
YEAH!
--BAND LAND SEQUENCE--
Where am I? There's a life
There's a cloud
Whereabouts? Doesn't matter!
I'm on a drum - now I'm on a maraca
Holy caca!
What do I see? A giant bee!
I swear that shit's the same size as me
I gave him a thump
Then he tried it
You're a bee, so I'll send you flyin'
Gotta jump on a drum
Then two more of his brothers come
Try ambush me, but they got a punch
Most think I am pussy, but I'm not a cunt
Bumblebee number one, I will box you up
Bumblebee number two, I will box you up
He didn't fly like the other one
Ain't worth my time - I gotta run

Jump on a small cloud, then it falls down
Get off, have a walk 'round, jump on the next one
Then duck
Dodge the spikes
So I don't get fucked
Then up
I'm being watched, but they won't
Ever ever see me stop
I get off the drum before they even drop
When it comes to the blue Tings, I need a lot
What's over here? A cage!
I know it's near, just so it's clear
I was gonna bust him free, 'til I fell and I fucked
My whole career up...
"You just fucked up?!"
"Yeah, you talk to me! You fucking owe me a career card!"
--BLUE MOUNTAINS SEQUENCE--
I see a Hunt'r
Try shoot me? I'll punch ya!
Spike, Ting, I'm breezing under
Hit the Cage and free my brothers
Uh!

Then it's back to my business
Ducking and diving
Jumping and gliding
Gotta keep both eyes open
For the right moments
It's all about timing
And you can't stop me - I'm Rayman!
Would you know: that's got feet with no legs
A head and a body with no neck
Hands but no arms on me

I goin' up on the cloud 'til
I get hit with something and now
I'm tumb'lin' down to the ground
This clown is tryin' to fuck me!
The ground is nuffin'
I'm sound 'cause the pound I'm buzzing
I'm proud to say he's out the way
So what's the fuss all about?

Still got three Health Points and four lives
See ya, big spike, boom, and I walk by
Then I hit it, but I'm trapped comin' back
Only one way: forward
But straight on to that!
Like a jeep! Collectin' my Tings
And gettin' my P
You ain't got no game plan like Rayman
You're a waste, man, I'm a
Jeep
More to follow later.

Not that long - maybe ten, fifteen minutes. The Skops one, so far, is the hardest one to hear clearly, especially when he uses rapper words that I don't know like 'kusanata' or whatever...
Also, I enjoy doing it. ;)

(Probs I will edit this post if I do more and no-one responds in the meantime)

EDIT:
Yep, here we go!
--DREAM FOREST SEQUENCE--
Wh-wh-what 'as begun? Who wanna get punched?
I knock off the Plum
Plum bounce, land on a Sam-Boy head
Collect my fist and the Sam-Boy dead
Golden glove so I can punch the Plum
One fist won't be enough; get another one
The wasteman's back
Face got slapped
Cage got smashed!

One more down
Gotta keep going
'Cause there's much more 'round
Midget got thumped
Midget got thumped
Climb up the vine
Another one down, down
Much more is around
Exploring - let's see what I can find
As I climb up the vine, fighting this guy
Might find a life
I will survive!

I'm moving on, oh yeah!
Unexplored land, I'll go there
Collect my Tings
Go for the Tings
Went for the Tings
Mans popped out of nowhere
But the dudes got dealt
Didn't even lose one Health
See another fist to keep to myself
I test it on the midget when I hit him
Send you to
Hell
--SPACE MAMA SEQUENCE--
Woah! What do I see? A flying washing machine!
Inside it there is a fat Viking
That must have a problem with me
She goes boasting a fishboat helmet then
Her rollin' pin shot out a beam
Obviously I dodge and wait for the right shot
Then she got bopped in the cheek
But she's getting to close to my face
We're on the Moon, so I need space
Hold on, move over, you take up to much room,
Fat bitch, know your place
But she's still trying to shoot me down
At least when she flies, I can move around
But I'm biting my nails and it's making me sweat
Where will she land?
Hope it ain't on my head
So I'm taking a step back
Wait 'til she lands to make the attack
Then I duck 'cause I'm fucked if I let her beam me
Beatin' a boss is never easy
But I gotta do it 'cause I wanna do it and I gotta prove it
Can't show that I might be worried
Or if I'm sorry so I struck her, sent her flying
'Cause I know everybody's relying on me
Pot lids are flying across
And as I dodge it I'm trying to
Not think of dying
But I know that I got this locked
--PICTURE CITY SEQUENCE--
I'm in a new world
I feel like a novice
Giant pencils, flying sharpners
If I make the wrong jump, I'll drown in this ink
Betilla the Fairy never gave me the power to swim
Better watch my back
I see the Golden Fist
Jump on the crusty rubber edge
And go for rip

Yin-yang boos - I'm climbing up 'em
Don't worry guys, I'm coming!
What's over here? A life or som't'ing
HUH?
Why the fuck is there spikes on rubbers? Nevermind
I'll give it another try; I want this fucking life
But it's just too high
Mweh... I'll try it one more time
I've already done it twice; at this rate, I'll be up all night
What the fuck! I'm like,
Come on, my jump's so fine
I wonder why it's being such a cunt
I might give up and die
Fuck it!
--ALLEGRO PRESTO SEQUENCE--
Nice day!
Lots of clouds in the sky
Lots of things: I can get Tings to collect
And I'm down for the ride
I glide
And slide
Past the recorder, down the musical notes
Cruising through it, losing control
Don't do what I'm told, just move to the flow
My senses kick in; a Cage must be near!
Don't go down; go up and whaddayou know
It's way over here - clear!
And I did my part
Finding Electoons, it's an art
But I've gotta free 'dem peaceful people and defeat the evil Mr Dark!
I'm moving on, I'm going in, I'm drawing so clear (?)
I know my job's to save the Earth, so I can't stop here
I just keep going an' knowing not what I'm doing's right
I can grapple, hang and run and punch and move with flight
I'm Rayman, the same man you've seen before
And thanks to Rayman Origins, you gonn' see me much more
Uh-huh uh!

Wow, like RayFan said that must have taken you a lot of time to writte up the lyrics! :o

I'm with some rush at the moment so I can only compare the written text and the rap later.

As a reward for your effort of writting the lyrics (I wasn't forcing people to write the lyrics just for my understanding), I offer you 500 Tings. :D Thank you once more, Shrooblord!

Having just completed Picture City on the PlayStation version (emulated), I think they screwed up some of the SFX. On the PC version, both Space Mama and the stone-dogs make a "scurrying" sound as they jump around. However, in the PS version, the stone-dogs make a more "spacey" sound, while Space Mama makes the same sound as in the PC version. Anyone else see the discrepancy?

EDIT: Interesting, the stone-dogs in the Caves of Skops make the proper sound. It was only in the Blue Mountains that they made the mistake.

Aaargh, finding last cage at Space Mama's Crater is frustrating thing! Stupid needles... I'm falling off that place more than 20th time! :/ I hope I will complete that level soon, but it's so hard.

UPD: wow. I just said about it here and reached last cage from first time. o_o
