Ah, someone found the courage to ask something i never asked you yet : make me a fucking summary of the whole story  .

Indeed, you began very early to work on this project. But it seems that CryTek and The CryEngines made the it step up a lot, didn't they?

At the moment, with all these game engines released, people can start to think about creating well-done games on their own. Good to know  .
RayFan9876 wrote:Now, I have largely improved what's even seen in that video. For instance, the running animation is a lot more "hop-skippy" like it was in Rayman 2, and also more detailed. I've even added modified animations for running uphill and downhill, which greatly add to the dynamic of the gameplay, and I've added an idle landing and jumping animation, as well as high-fall rolls (like in Rayman 2, but they only happen if you jump from higher up), sliding, ledgegrabs, and complete helicopter animations (the mechanic of which still has to be implemented). I've also vastly improved many of the staler looking environments seen in the August/September update.
Moar awsome news like dat. I WANT MOAAAAAR!

Here's a render on how far I've gotten so far. I've already worked out the transparent bits, and now I just need to work in the detail. I'm actually trying to make it look gory, but I'm not sure if that's the best idea.

And that's the fun part, creating his character, creating reasons for why he's like this, and all of it in general. He's probably going to be one of the most fun characters to work with because of how he is.

Rayfanboy wrote:You are an inspiration to me Rayfan, in terms of veritably proving that anyone can make a video game. I've been coming up with ideas for a 2D platformer since October 2010 when I first created the main protagonist and the universe and characters that surround him. With no knowledge of programing, my alternative software is GameMaker for developing the project. My vision is to create a very fun and unique game that really pushes GameMaker's 2D capabilities. Being the name of the main character thus, the game is called: The Screech. I might upload some old character sketches later for a start. And if the project gets fully off the ground, I'll make a thread for it. Anyone can tell me if they're interested to see more details.
I'll definitely be interested in seeing what you're up to. Just prepare yourself and make sure you know what has to be done.
TeensieKing wrote:I'm impressed by how it all started with drawings when you were 7 and now it all turned into this. You're gonna go far, I'm sure this game is going to be big and you're gonna get to work for some good company! Maybe Ubisoft :D Or you could end up making the perfect return for Crash Bandicoot, or making really imaginative and cool Mario games, the next Raymans...
I don't think I'll be doing anything Mario or Crash related... I was never fond of Crash, and I think Mario has had his run.

Is it possible to make the holes larger and even more torn and maybe a bit less orange? I want them to look as raggy and... well, 'scary' as possible. I want these creatures to appear disturbing or frightening.

Great work so far though, that bone/skull colour is almost chillingly perfect.

Ok, just finished reading. Interesting story, and EPIC update^^ Good to see you have improved a lot, since you started early. The new graphics seems awesome, and I really enjoyed seeing Rayman in the Music plains with you're remix^^ I can't wait to try that!

The orange is not the final color. (neither is the red of the feathers) I'm only using it to keep things apart for now. And yes, I can make the holes bigger. At first, the bones were green so I could tell them apart in the texture's image while I was mapping it.

Also I've said it before, but the recover file is missing the ribcage and spine. After I'm done texturing, you'll have to add them again. I'll have a bone texture made to use on them.

That Zombie Chicken is almost perfect. But I think his clothe is too tiny and is currently lowering the scarying effect of him. And if I remember, one of the things which scared me in Zombie Chickens in R2 and R3 was the fact they were (or seemed) hunchbacked. Why not add a lil' hunchback on him?

Maybe you already thought about it and I don't see it on your picture Spanex :? ...

The thing I liked about the Zombie Chickens in R2 is that everything about them was ghostly, right down to the rags they wore; even they were transparent and almost merely a shadowform around its body. That may be something you'd like to work towards...?

I was going to explain what I had in mind for Dark Rayman's character in the Rayman novel series, but I don't think that you would like it so I'm going to work on it some more before I reveal it. Also I have an idea for another character for the Valley of Illusion. However I don't want to force you to read it so if you want to know about this character just ask.

The chickens in Rayman 3 were a lot ghostier and their movement was creepy. For now I'm just following Rayfan's wishes on it.

I actually prefer Rayman 3's Zombie Chickens, they actually made me panic, unlike the Rayman 2 version, which I just merely shot down with a "meh."

Really? I hated R3's Zombie Chickens. They were all halogen-coloured, luminous and wacky as if they'd been snorting something. The music didn't help either. And the only panicking I did was because they got in your face like the baby Chenilles do in R2. I can imagine the R2 Zombie Chickens being actually scary, whereas the R3 ones were a bit of a nuisance.
But that's just my point of view. And sure, Spanex, of course you should follow what RayFan wants - it's her game in the end. I was just dropping a suggestion.

You're so shy and insecure it's not even fun anymore. And I can tell because I'm shy myself. Don't be afraid to post your ideas! Once in a while, you might encounter someone who's mean because of them, but you can deal with them. People like reading about what you have to say - that's why they're on the forum to begin with! Don't be shy now, come on. :)

They did kind of freak me because in Rayman 2 they didn't do all that much. They were just mindless mobs coming at you. But in Rayman 3, they had their own tune, they chased you around, made howling noise and even laughed at you if you got hit by them. What's more, they learned to gang up on you. That was not my idea of a common zombie chicken.

In Rayman 2 though, especially in Tomb of the Ancients, they had the behaviour of aiming for the location you were, based on your current path of travel, going to be when they would get there. This way they could knock you off the Purple Lums while in the air or hit you from behind when you couldn't see them. In Rayman 2, they could appear unexpectedly, whereas in Rayman 3, you always saw them coming.
I see why you guys like, or rather, were afraid of the Zombie Chickens in Rayman 3 though. I admit, the tune is good and the sounds they make and group effort they apply all add to a generally scary experience, but the way the tune suddenly disappears with that dropping cut in sound just made it sound clumsy as opposed to scary. In Rayman 2, they make horrible, squeaky, whisery noises and rise from the ground or out of the waters. In Rayman 3, they come from the walls. I never even noticed their howls or laughs because of the music. I guess it just depends on what scares you more: unseen predators or dangers you always know are lurking, but which will appear at an unknown time.

Well, in R2 it depends of the place where you are. These Zombie Chickens are very scary in The Tomb of The Ancients because this is a place where they are really adapted to, but when I saw them in The Bayou, I was kinda like "srsly? WTF are they here? Nonsense".
In R3 it depends of the context. When the music changed and I saw then incoming directly and not passing through the walls it wasn't scary at all. But when I didn't see them and that they were incoming from another side I always jumped on my seat.

I think we can all agree that this time, the chickens need to be as creepy as can be. :bad:
