Yeah I mean one guy earlier today said to me "I think Mario u looks better because the new map screen looks awesome and some of the new features look better than rayman" or something like that. Firstly yeah that constant flowing map is very nice but really since when was the map a significant variable to show a games quality? I mean iIwasn't too much of a fan of Rayman origins Map yet I adored the gameplay, music, graphics etc leaving something like a mere map screen irrelevant; just shows how desperate these fanboys are to cling onto stuff like that. Basically when there isn't significant innovation in the gameplay, graphics, music etc etc. Also what "new features"? Legends offers a whole new dimension with Murphy and 5 playable characters on screen. A new acorn power-up dosent quite cut the deal for me quitefrankly, yet I have to admit Mario U does look fun just legends is leagues ahead and you have to be a blind fanboy to think otherwise really.sergiomonty wrote:1. I cant wait to see both these games released and Legends thrash Mario U in Review scores, not that they entirely matter but still...
2. Yes, I know, Mario fanboys are lately getting worse than the Sonic fanboys that plagued the internet some years ago. I like New Super Mario Bros U, sort of, but come on, as a gamer, one must not be blind and face the defeat, Rayman Legends is virtually superior, even Rayman Origins looked better than how NSMB U looks now. It's like a Sonic fanboy saying "Come on guys, face it, Sonic Unleashed is way better than Super Mario Galaxy".
Which Sources? as far as I know, the Toad Story trailer still says that the game is coming out during Launch Window, but most of the sources that I've seen so far say that the game is coming out around february/march (which makes more sense, as it still qualifies as Launch Window and Q1 2013 at the same time).Bradandez wrote:Wait is Rayman Legends still delayed until Q1 2013 because from sources it says it'll be released on December 4, 2012.

Re: Rayman Legends
Mario is currently in a state where It's waiting for a classic title. Back when the N64 came out, it was a refreshing change for gamers to see a new kind of Mario after two consoles with 2D sidescroller games. When the GameCube launched, Nintendo seemed to get the idea to get more innovative with the games instead of a series of Super Mario 64 sequels. With this came Sunshine, which had the same idea as 64, but added a ton of new gameplay, more story, and environments never seen in a Mario game before. Along with Sunshine came the gem that Luigi's Mansion is, the double player gameplay from Mario Kart Double Dash, the beat em' up Wario World and the amazing sequel to Paper Mario. As for other series, Nintendo was at It's best point during this time it was since the NES. When the DS and Wii came around, they went back to giving us some more classic games, such as New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Super Mario 3D Land. While returning to retro gaming for a while was a good move, New Super Mario Bros. 2 really felt like this has to be the closing to that period. New Super Mario Bros. U looks great to me, but I wonder if it was made mainly for the purpose of having a new console + Mario game + Christmas. Considering that the Wii U leaves the white rooms with laughing people behind and invites us to colourful rooms with enthusiastic people, I'm willing to bet the series will come with some new gems from Nintendo's greatest, hopefully being as good as Galaxy.
Rayman Legends is much, much, much better, of course. It's good to see that unlike Miamoto who is starting to become old (Which I can't blame him for. The man is 59), and Chris Sawyer who completely abandoned the gaming industry, Ancel is still actively working to make his both new and old fans satisfied with his work.

Re: Rayman Legends
Yeah, I mean, NSMB U has the exact same graphics as the Wii one... it's just rendered up like Rayman 3 HD. Rayman Legends instead, has fully modified models and the engine had to be improved in order to make more effects, like lightnings and stuff. The music in NSMB U is fully digital, while Rayman Legends features it's own orchestra. Murphy accomplishes several tasks in Legends, in NSMBU you just manipulate a bunch of blocks that do nothing but turn into an obstacle or platforms. Rayman Legends has a lot of new playable characters, Mario is still stuck with the Toads. Rayman Legends has more organic and fluid controls, while NSMB U is slow and imprecise. Mario fans, get your shit straight.Bzzit wrote: Yeah I mean one guy earlier today said to me "I think Mario u looks better because the new map screen looks awesome and some of the new features look better than rayman" or something like that. I still have the feeling that: Origins was all 2D, then Legends will have some 3D elements, and I think that bit to bit they'll add some more 3D till the engine is totally developed to make a stunningly impressively epicly awesome 3D Rayman game that will live up to Rayman 2. At least I hope so.

Re: Rayman Legends
Even though I still wish they went with the origins story they originally set out for, as a long time fan I was actually quite satisfied with origins. The only major thing I was let down by was the unsatisfying boss battles, when I saw glimpses of rayman 1 enemies remastered in the game I expected to see the likes of Mr Stone and Moskito return but alas we were up against forgettable bosses that lasted like 5 seconds. Though in Hindsight I guess they kinda suited the pacing of the game, I miss the tension, length and challenge of the Mister brigade.I also prefer the cast being somewhat serious with a hint of humor not the other way round, when they make the transition to 3D again hopefully the characters will resemble their personas in rayman 2 but keep some humor here and there.sergiomonty wrote: Yeah, I mean, NSMB U has the exact same graphics as the Wii one... it's just rendered up like Rayman 3 HD. Rayman's not gonna start with the right foot so easily, it takes time, and I'm pretty sure they're going the right way with Legends. In two years, the fanbase would be strong enough to support a new 3d game...well.. if Ancel stops his obsession with Ubiart.
Re: Rayman Legends
It would be very nice if the UbiArt Engine could be optimized to support full-3D, the possibilities in graphics would be endless. It would be quite intriguing to see the next 3D Rayman game and/or BG&E 2 in fully-fledged, hand-drawn three-dimensional environments. (lot of heightens emm...)
Re: Rayman Legends
And, if they do make a 3D Rayman game, they should put in the original serious Rayman in there. Not the always crazy Rayman (They should take out the RO Rayman ).TeensieKing wrote:I still have the feeling that: Origins was all 2D, then Legends will have some 3D elements, and I think that bit to bit they'll add some more 3D till the engine is totally developed to make a stunningly impressively epicly awesome 3D Rayman game that will live up to Rayman 2. We've seen it months ago, but on video. Still, thanks for the pic. It makes it easier to enjoy the shirt.Squiz wrote:I found picture of a Rayman Legends T-Shirt weared by Emile Morel :

Re: Rayman Legends
I got to play Rayman Legends today at DigiExpo! Unfortunately, I have no videos and the best picture my mom took of me playing is completely blurry. How great is that.
I'll say, the gamepad is very nice. I played as Murfy, and his gameplay works well. However, I felt like there wasn't too much to do as Murfy. Picking up some enemies, painting the lums... but maybe the level is just one of the easier ones, and then there will be harder ones that will be more challenging when it comes to this character. Overall, I really enjoyed playing the Wii U.

Re: Rayman Legends
I think the Murfy character is not per se for the hardcore gamer, but maybe more designed for that 'five year-old sibling' that would like to play along, but would get frustrated with normal controls.

Oh it looks like a really cute version of Rayman too!Squiz wrote:I found picture of a Rayman Legends T-Shirt weared by Emile Morel :

I am starting to develop the theory that gamers nowadays just aren't used to that kind of challenging gameplay anymore, and therefore generally don't like games that have it, or at least are not accustomed to them, and so, the gaming industry no longer makes games with this type of gameplay. The old 'challenging' gameplay is usually reminiscent of arcade games, where you have to have patience and skill to figure out what to do, whereas these days, there's so many games that 'need playing', that a gamer might get easily frustrated with games that require too much of his time. However, I think this state of mind is a wrong one in that gamers would actually enjoy a challenging game. The general industry has evolved into making games with an easy cruise-through type of gameplay as opposed to ones that require your brains to do what they were made to do. Even if a game is 'challenging', it's usually because the game requires you to develop a precise skill or some timing perfection, not because it is forcing you to think about how you should move on. There are great exceptions, of course, but this seems to be the general trend of things.Bzzit wrote:The only major thing I was let down by was the unsatisfying boss battles, when I saw glimpses of rayman 1 enemies remastered in the game I expected to see the likes of Mr Stone and Moskito return but alas we were up against forgettable bosses that lasted like 5 seconds. What Shroobie said, through and through.
That being said, there are still some games today which have proven an adequate challenge, and I have enjoyed the experience they have given.

I heard that Ancel was postponing BG&E 2 not for the next gen consoles, but also because he was developing a UbiArt engine for 3D games.Rayfanboy wrote:It would be very nice if the UbiArt Engine could be optimized to support full-3D, the possibilities in graphics would be endless. Re: Rayman Legends
I got to play Rayman Legends at Gamestop today. I don't have much to say about it that other people haven't already noted. I didn't get to use the Gamepad because my big brother was there with me and he wanted to use it, oh' well..., but I did get to hold it though, it's very light and quite thin and the screen is well sized, around the same size the PS Vita's screen. The buttons feel durable as well, like any piece of Nintendo hardware, basicly it feels like a giant bottom-half of the 3DS, it's not a huge issue, but I did want a bit more weight in the controller. On to the game: The graphics are gorgeous, as well as a lot of times in 'Origins I noticed the camera would zoom out to a considerable extent, I didn't see it at all in the 'Legends demo, it really makes the animations and tiny, intricate details stand out. The enemies pace back and forth instead of standing in the same spot and actually turn around when getting near the edge of a platform. The controls were smooth and responsive as ever as well as my brother didn't have any trouble getting Murphy around the levels, helping me traverse around the world. Castle Rock can be played without Murphy, you just miss a lot of Lums. In the end, I enjoyed Rayman Legends.
