I'm sure many would like that option where you can change difficulty.
However, I think that RO was deliberately designed to be as accessible as possible, hence forgoing such options, besides, I don't really like difficulty levels in honesty.

In general, I do too, but I seem to steer clear of most of them once I've fully completed a game on one of the easier ones. The Halo series is the only one where I've managed to complete all games on their hardest difficulty setting (multiple times) because generally, the 'hard' or 'expert' difficulties tend to be unbalanced and over the top (which is probably what Master doesn't like about them).
Difficulty levels are excellent in arcade games though. They knew how to do things right back then.

Re: How did you become a Rayman fan?
If I can remember, it was just a ordinary visit to my grandmother when I was like 5 or 6... then I saw something on the living room table... something that has changed my Young Child life. A Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc Demo Disc promoted by the Prince Cookies. And I even may have it from her.(!) And so... I became a Rayman fan. (Until I was 12/13 for some reason...)

When i was 6/7, my grandparents bought me a game for my windows 98, "RAYMAN 2 THE GREAT ESCAPE", I was really ill in hospital for a year or two, so never played it much but then around 8/9/10 I played it, aced it and bought the other ports, bought rayman 3, played that in hospital, got rayman 1 on PS1, my friend gave away rayman advance for free xD and then i just fell in love with the franchise ever since.

This is rather interesting, most of us became fans around the turn of the Millennium.

When I was 2 and Rayman 1 had recently come out (in the states), my mom's friend who would find really great games for the PSX came over with a stack full of new games and that was one of them. My mom thought it was great so she went out and bought her own copy and the rest was history. Once R3HH came out I was completely hooked on the franchise, though. For the longest time it was just a great couple of games I played frequently, but now it's among my absolute favourite things in the world.

Re: How did you become a Rayman fan?
When I was too young to talk properly I played Rayman 1 alot. All I remember now is the pencil level, the cloudy level, the level with gemstones in and that photographer. I remember Rayman 2 though. That was (and still is) my favourite Rayman game ever. I even used to make comic books about the game in year 1 (I'm not sure if it's different in America, but I was like 6 then). I still have them, actually! That guy scared the crap out of me as a kid. The guy with one eye who lived in the nightmare place. I've forgotten alot recently so I will start playing the game again soon! I then played Rayman 3. Oh dear. I love Rayman 3 so much but when I played it as a kid, I got so scared. Here's the thing: Rayman 1 is fun and happy. Rayman 2 is extremely creepy and eerie. It feels so lonely at times and haunted. Rayman 3 was just plain terrifying. The invincibles where scariest for me (I still loved the game though). If I played it now I wouldn't be scared, but I was like 6 or 7, guys. Scary. Next I played Rayman M. This is my favourite mainly multiplayer game joined with gauntlet dark legacy. I still have both those games. Then I played Rayman 3 on gba (was very fun) and finally I got Rayman origins a few days ago because of a steam sale. Great game, but not as good as 2 or 3. I know it's not made by ubisoft, buti can't wait for Rayman 1.5 to come out! I've been following it for years and it looks amazing. It's made by rayfan. You should check it out. As you can see I am a big fan of Rayman!
P.S I absolutely hate raving rabbids so much. It ruined Rayman. Origins is a good recovery though! I want to see more 3D Rayman like 2 and 3!

Re: How did you become a Rayman fan?
I now remeber what realy happened. I had the Rayman 1 CD in 2001/2002 but I was so frustrated and angry because I couldn't beat a level (2 Level in the Mountain World) so I throwed the CD in trash. (Why the hell did I do that??) Anyway some years later when I entered 3rd class we were invited to our Dutch friends and there I saw the kids standing infront of the Monitor and trying to create a Rayman Designer Map. Next to the computer lied the Rayman Gold box. I asked them to borrow the CD but they didn't agree. They needed the CD to launch the Game. Returned home with empty hands. I really wanted the game back! I asked my father if he can get the game somewhere. He gave me this: http://www.priceminister.com/offer/buy/ ... eu-Pc.html . OK I got Rayman's World. Insterted the disc, installed on my Windows XP PC click on Play OH OH!! It doesn't start
. From there I searched help in the internet and found this Website: http://rayman-fanpage.de/ and its link to PoK2 very first Patch. But again Oh Oh! That was only Rayman Designer
not that what I realy wanted. I hoped that I didn't realy lost my Rayman 1 and looked out of my CDs and found a CD from a Catalog from 2001. That CD had the Demo version of Rayman 1. I remember our Dutch friends had Rayman Gold which included Rayman 1 as well. I went to every Fleamarket nearby us but no Rayman Gold or Rayman 1 for PC. Just Rayman for Playstation no more. I took Rayman 1 and my SiS Rayman 3 for Playstation. I was sooo happy ! Finally got my Rayman 1 back after Years!! From now on my obsession to Rayman began, even my father can't stand by Rayman anymore
Re: How did you become a Rayman fan?
Hmm. I think it was almost Christmas. I wanted Super Mario 64, or maybe Banjo Tooie. Probably the latter. I was only able to get Rayman 2: The Great Escape. It was very interesting, and the cartridge was green! It stood out from the others. I got so excited in getting this game, that I got a headache from it, and playing it in midnight (day before Christmas), did not help.
It was awesome. Magical.
From then on I became a fan. I always liked to read the booklet too, it had cool info on Rayman. I wanted more, and looked at the back of the booklet and went to the site it mentioned, Raymanzone. From there, I found out about Rayman PC.
That's how it all started. I might play some more Rayman games, and try Rayman 1 again to still have some Rayman in me you know.

Re: How did you become a Rayman fan?
Ah a green cartridge! The NA version of the N64 R2 has got that colour.
I will transcript again for my case:
I was in the house of an ex-neighbour which had a slim PlayStation 1 with a couple of games. When I went to the living room, I saw him playing a game with a very cartoony, colourful, happy and animated jungle landscape (Rayman - Pink Plant Woods). I was marveled to the ammount of detail of everything in the screen. When I look to the left I see a character with a unique atribute, something that I've never seen before: no arms, no legs and no neck. I asked if I could play, and he let me (although he didn't want). I found his attack quite fun (The telescopic fist) and how the enemies died. I managed to beat Bzzit and to reach Bongo Hills. Hours later, I noticed I was hooked and further than the ex-neighbour's game progress. In the same day I tried out Rayman 2: The Great Escape's DEMO in a Playstation Magazine disk. From that day on I became a Rayman fan.

Re: How did you become a Rayman fan?
I don't know what year I became a fan of Rayman. I think I became a fan looking at some "Rayman 2" images, and I believe after while, played the "Rayman Advance" rom. Then years down the road,"Rayman Origins" came along, and here I am.
Can't wait for "Rayman Legends" though.

What's with the name quoting? It's as if you're speaking of some foreign object that we don't understand.
