Coldplay - Up with the Birds.

That first minute and a half is goose-bump-inflicting. Beautiful.

One of the few good moments from the album. This Coldplay era has been such a huge disappointment. You'd think they would become less commercial over the years, but now It's gone to a point where the band seems to hint that half the things you hear from them were not their decisions. Comics... :tssk:

Huh? I loved Mylo Xyloto. From favourite to least favourite, this is my album order:

Viva la Vida
A Rush of Blood to the Head
Mylo Xyloto
X&Y
Parachutes

Mine would be...

A Rush of Blood to the Head
Parchutes
Viva la Vida
X&Y
Mylo Xyloto

Their last album came around very commercial. Everything appears intended for mainstream fans, and featuring Rihanna didn't make it much better. There's still plenty songs I liked though. Up In Flames is great. Paradise and Princess of China are really the only songs that didn't please me.

I personally don't understand why Parachutes is liked so much - half the songs in there have almost cringeworthy lyrics, plus, I think the EP was much better than the final release; a good example of this is Don't Panic. The EP version was way, way better, and arguably my favourite Coldplay song. The EP version, that is. The final release version is probably one of my least favourite.

I like the newer Coldplay stuff as much as I like the older stuff.

The Black Eyed Peas, on the other hand... >:(

We Never Change and Trouble are songs that really give mood to the album. Sure, It's a OK Computer knock off, but that's why OK Computer is so fucking amazing: It has a unique atmosphere.

The main factor is that my musical preference has changed a lot over the past year. I used to find Radiohead a bit meh, but It's my favourite band now. Pop like music is also really not my style, and considering how many artists are becoming pop, that can be a little dissapointing. Take Robbie Williams for an example. His album-Reality Killed the Movie Star-showed that he has potential to do much more than love songs with a guitar and Rock DJ. Rather then delivering the next work of this quality, he came back with a pop album full of weak lyrics and beats, coming out as his weakest performance yet. Forgettable.

I think it's fair to say that every new alternative rock band of the late 90's tried to copy OK Computer, so let's leave that out of the question. Most of the songs from Parachutes I just find to be rather uninspired, it's like they didn't have many good ideas until A Rush of Blood to the Head.

The reason I like Viva la Vida so much is because of what it was, really. It was a huge breakthrough in their style, and it gave Coldplay two very different, yet entirely uniquely signifying sounds. With every single song in Viva la Vida you can feel the soul, inspiration and sheer creativity behind them, and it just makes me so happy when I listen to it. It's one of my favourite albums of all time.

The song Viva la Vida itself is one king of music. Really creative and caught my attention for Coldplay again since Clocks. Ah, miss the 00's. So many artists were at their best points during it. Kid A, In Rainbows, The Resistance, Hopes and Fears, Viva la Vida are just to name a few of the masterpieces released. I must say there have been several great albums since 2010. Gorillaz's The Fall, Radiohead's King of Limbs, Muse's 2nd Law. Alt rock like it was in the 00's seems dead, though. The closest to it that I've heard in a while is Keane's latest album.
