Just watched Skyfall. And, oh well. It's a blend. A blend of new realisticness of Bond with old general feel of the story, and a little of "you start to get old" episode. I found the thing really, really good, but that's really a case in which results may vary. Note: I was unspoiled, and if you know some "major" spoilers the ending is stupid.

On a slightly related note, I really need the learn the title of the French "Boom Song".

Last movie I watched was "The Lorax".
I love movies based on Dr. Seuss' fairy tales, they always are nice, with a lot of cute, interesting characters and, what I found important, plain and obvious plot. I am getting tired of "double entendered" movies with uncertain point or something like that and starting to love children's cartoons or fairy tales even more than I loved them then I was actually child.
This movie was very enjoyable. I like more other movie based on Dr. Seuss' book named "Horton", but "The Lorax" had the same naive, optimistic and childish athmosphere which I liked too. Additional plus for Russian dub; it came out great in fact that usually dubs are full of fails. The only thing annoyed me in movie - most part of songs except "How Bad Can I Be?" (yeahhh, I am one of those Once-Ler's fans :D ) and Once-Ler's relatives... such relationships always grossing me out.

Got two interesting movies.

First up is Wreck-It Ralph. The movie is entertaining and well worked out, with plenty of gaming to add to the experience. It was fun to see all the characters from the games we know but besides Street Fighter and a short appearance of Pac-Man, the trailer mostly showed all of them. Character development was defenitely there, and it was well executed. Ralph is a very likable person and while he wants to be good, his "Bad guy programming" does come trough sometimes. The villain receives a perhaps somewhat rushed twist near the end but I won't spoil anything for you. If you're looking for a better gaming movie than The Wizard, this is it.

Second up: Moonrise Kingdom. I didn't really know what to expect from this but it turned out great. I greatly enjoyed the artistic looks of how the setting and how it was recorded. Instead of seeing someone stab another with scissors using a cliche slow motion effect, we simply see a picture of a pair of scissors and a short clip of a shot arrow to let the viewer know it was used to stab. All the odd things like a house where everything is yellow or a tree house that is literally a house on a tree trunk really makes it stand out from everything else. The main characters, two young kids with issues, seem to have two personalities. They can be like a child, deciding to run away when they're mad, yet do this in a very adult like manner. Seeing Bruce Willis, one of my favourite action actors from today, play a lonely police cop, gave a fresh change for how we see him too. The only thing that could have been a little better was the story. Two kids run fall in love and want to run away while everyone doesn't understand them isn't necessarily the greatest plot for this movie. Still, it did do a very good job at what they could with the story, and the ending makes you wonder whether it is really happy or not. If you enjoy seeing some art and unlikely ideas in a movie this is a top recommendation.

Well I'm a bit late. But watched 007 : Skyfall last Friday. Awesome, but not in the way I thought it would be.

Well, it looks like a classic 007 movie at first sight : a villain with a fucking great criminal organization, M, Bond, etc...but the movie is very focused on the relation between M and Bond this time.

Some great action parts, as the beginning of the film, but not too much (it seems to be the print of the Daniel Craig's period of 007 : More deepness in the character of James Bond and the people surrounding him). And they are efficient. Sometimes it reminded me the action scenes of the Bourne trilogy (I haven't watched the last one yet).

I don't want to say more about this movie because I have the feeling that telling people more important things about this movie would spoil it.
But I advise you to watch it. Even as a James Bond movie, this one was very surprising.

I can't wait to see it. Have to wait a while longer here. I can recommend the latest Bourne movie, though I wonder if they thought I'd be more popular to simply call it "Bourne" and get people to go. It could have been a movie on itself.

Watched Inception last night. It would have had me on the edge of my seat, if I was the kind of guy that let himself get anywhere near the edge of a couch! Seriously though, by the end of it, all my muscles were twitching. Had quite a bit of trouble getting to sleep afterwards.

Wreck-It Ralph.

First of all, I thought it was excellent. The reason I went into the theatre with low expectations was because of Disney's recent history in... well, everything. Now while I like a lot of Pixar movies, if I were to be honest, I would say that most of them (bar Finding Nemo and Brave) didn't have the same impact that Disney did back in their prime.

With that said, Wreck-It Ralph completely proves that Disney still can have that passion in them that lit up their older movies. It's very, very clearly Disney, not Pixar, when you get down to the writing and artstyle. Right off the bat you'll notice that, unlike Pixar, not one blade of lollipop grass is misplaced. The attention to detail is absolutely incredible, and you can tell that they really put an unbelievable amount of work into this thing. The drama too felt more authentic than a lot of Pixar's more movie-esque drama, and once again, in a common Disney-fashion, it can almost bring you to tears at certain parts; I think it's because Disney are definitely risk-takers when they put effort into something like this, and something as simple as Ralph hanging Vanellope on the tree branch as he smashes the car, rendering her entirely powerless to watch all her hopes and dreams destroyed not a few feet from her by her only friend, the only one capable of creating what he destroyed is subtle, but powerful imagery that a company like Pixar would most likely water-down on. It takes itself very seriously, and I love that.

Another great part about this movie is that it knows exactly how much is enough. For example, the cameos, while only appearing in a few select scenes, felt real. It felt like they each had their own story and purpose, but we were following Ralph's. The bad-guy meet was established as a regular occurrence, happening two or three times throughout the film, so even in the long gaps between, you could always feel their presence in the game world. Along with the cameos, the mocks were truly awesome. The writers were clearly experienced gamers, because every reference, every subtle and non-subtle joke was perfect and the furthest thing from contrived; I praise the writers so much on this. Hero's Duty, the obvious take on Call of Duty mixed with Gears of War was also hilarious, even right down to the way they mock typical console FPSes being a "camera on wheels."

Something this film had that I hadn't seen for a long, long time, is a classic, genuinely good plot-twist in regards to Turbo at the end. It was perfectly set up, it was referenced very subtly throughout the movie, but no one would have ever seen it coming.

Despite all this however, it does have some minor flaws. Even though the pacing was very good, I think it could have filled out the two hour mark with all the material they had, instead of cramming it into an hour and 45 minutes. The drama is where this gets hit the most. Take the Lion King as an example: it really took its time with the drama, feeling like an incredibly desirable and natural progression. With Wreck-It Ralph, we have a nice progression, however the drama - as well as other seems - often feels cut a bit short, pretty much due to the fact that the whole thing seems a little compressed. There are a few miniature plot-holes here and there, none of which are worth mentioning though because of how unimportant/forgettable they are. I've actually forgot most of them, but they did cross my mind a couple times when watching the movie.

I know it almost sounds like I'm bashing Pixar here, I'm not. From my perspective though, they have a tendency to be very 'safe.' Some of their movies I just plain don't like (I've spoken my dislike for Toy Story many times), but I also think some of them are near masterpieces. The problem I have with Pixar though is that for the vast majority of their films, they feel... what's that... unimpactful. They're very nice to watch, but most of them ((with the exceptions listed earlier) don't have that fantastic, classic memorability you get from a serious Disney production. Even Wreck-It Ralph has that scent of warm Disney magic that I don't think Pixar has, and that's one of the things I like most.

Top half imo. Good, but still not as good as (at least): The Spy Who Loved Me, GoldenEye, From Russia With Love, The Living Daylights, License to Kill, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Casino Royale or Goldfinger. Still, a much needed improved from the abysmal Quantum of Solace, which ranks in my personal bottom five along with the rest of the Brosnan films and Moonraker.

It also felt like the villain was some kind of reference to Julian Assange.

Very good review from ya, Adsolution. I agree that Pixar is starting to lose to Disney. For example, Brave was pretty meh, while Wreck-It Ralph will definitely be the animated feature film of the year if you ask me. But I won't compare these two anymore. Nobody knows who will take the pot next time when it comes to animated feature films.
