"I see no harm in trying" is the classical expression, but I guess this fits in some context.
Oh thanks. Then again, I don't see harm in trying :P I'll ask for a Wii U

The Wii U is a great console. Considering how well New Super Mario Bros. U works on it, Rayman Legends only gets more exciting for me.

Nope.

Honestly, the thing feels slow, clunky, and handles like a child's toy.

You grumpy pansy.

I already tried the Wii U at a friend's house, my opinion? well, it's awesome. I love the interface, and Miiverse is actually a pretty fun place. The menu a bit slow, but I guess that's a normal problem for a recently launched console. That happened to my 3ds too, it was freakishly slow, but with some good updates now it runs like a bunny on fire. I tried the youtube app... it's pretty limited, and I saw in some videos that it's better to just open youtube in the browser. That's all I checked.
I'll get my Wii U in two weeks, I just bought it on Amazon USA and in a week I'll transfer it from USA to Colombia via Cargonet, because compared to Colombia... it's easier to simply buy products from USA. Globalization is a bitch here in south america.

Sergio is correct, the console is great. not to mention that the gamepad is a fantastic controller, though I feel some games limit its uses.

No it doesn't... There's a huge difference between playing the console and reading about it. I've tried it once and by that I can conclude that Wii U do have potencial to become an awesome console. However, the games is what I look forward to the most and I know that it will have many great ones upon its future. So don't criticise it until you've tried it. (Though I don't know if you've tried it or not.)

One of the main reasons I dislike the controller is because the touch screen is… bad. It's resistive and single-touch, something Nintendo has no excuse for this, really. It's really old technology. Another reason is because it only runs natively at 720p. I mean, really? The Xbox 360 in 2005 even supported 1080p. Sure, they're technical complaints, Butthats the whole point. New console, it should have better technology. This is almost embarrassing if you actually put it in perspective.

just 1 frame of difference, that's a freaking responsive touchscreen. Have you considered reviewing the precise gyroscope? that shit is new, even the last iPad has that and it sucks at times, but on Wii U that's sick... Playing Nintendoland and shit.
Adsolution wrote:It's resistive and single-touch, something Nintendo has no excuse for this, really. It's really old technology.
I think multitouch is an awful idea for a videogame controller. It can work on an iPad or any other tablet because the screen is the main focus and there are like 3 or 1 external buttons. The screen on the Wii U gamepad is too far from the thumbs to do that, and you're not supposed to use both hands because you're supposed to handle the controller and use some buttons. It is practically designed for the index finger. Also, why would you need that on a videogame? to squeeze Mario's buttocks?
Adsolution wrote:Another reason is because it only runs natively at 720p.
The gamepad? sure. That's pretty smooth for a small screen.
Adsolution wrote:I mean, really? The Xbox 360 in 2005 even supported 1080p.
Ehm.. Wii U runs 1080p on your big screen, you silly tittie. The Wii U version of Mass Effect 3 runs 1080p while the Xbox 360 version runs poor 720p. If most of the launch titles run at 720p is because of that, they're launch titles, Xbox 360's launch titles had pretty lame graphics, should I remind you.
Adsolution wrote:New console, it should have better technology.
Hehe, the classic "Nintendo's finally joining 2006".
Err... well, shall I remember you that Nintendo has never been the leader if we talk about graphics. Remember Super Nintendo, remember Nintendo 64, remember Gamecube, remember Wii. Who knows why Nintendo sells so much... maybe it's magic, maybe it's because we're getting Mario in HD, and nobody knows why, but just knowing that is fucking amazing.
Adsolution wrote: This is almost embarrassing if you actually put it in perspective.
Yeah... back to the old topic... what else? you hate the Gamecube controller because it had "unbalanced" and "disproportional" buttons? :hinhin:

Every console is good in it's own right. Unless we're talking about the Atari 5200.

It's not.
sergiomonty wrote:I think multitouch is an awful idea for a videogame controller.
Why?
sergiomonty wrote:It can work on an iPad or any other tablet because the screen is the main focus and there are like 3 or 1 external buttons.
Yes, yes, so it could work even better on a system where there are more buttons, giving it more flexibility.
sergiomonty wrote:Also, why would you need that on a videogame? to squeeze Mario's buttocks?
For every reason imaginable. Not only are capacitive screens more efficient in design, they have better response, precision, and support multi-touch properly. I can't think of one good reason why Nintendo would have chosen to use a resistive touch screen. Aside from that, think how many gameplay possibilities could be incorporated. Here's one off the top of my head: zooming in and out of the screen. Everyone praised the Vita for its multitouch and the ability to zoom in and out even in Origins, so what in the world makes you think Nintendo made a good choice by ignoring newer, more efficient and better technology that provides a nicer and more flexible experience? Not only that, have you ever experienced glitches where there's more than one precise point touching on the DS screen at once? It totally freaks out. Common glitch, and the glitch doesn't exist in capacitives.
sergiomonty wrote:The gamepad? sure. That's pretty smooth for a small screen.
The gamepad runs nowhere near 720p, in fact it runs at 480p. That just proves that you have no idea what you're talking about.

Take note that I said 'natively.' The Wii U does not run natively at 1080p, it upscales. The PS3 and X360 however run 1080p natively and do not require an upscale.
sergiomonty wrote:Hehe, the classic "Nintendo's finally joining 2006".
Exactly, and it even fails in that department.
sergiomonty wrote:Err... well, shall I remember you that Nintendo has never been the leader if we talk about graphics.
I don't live on this planet.... Image Nintendo was the leader in graphics technology right up through till 2001 when the Xbox was released, and still kicked the crap out of Sony right up until the PS3 and Wii in 2006.

The GameCube controller was fantastic and revolutionary; it served as the template for pretty much every controller and gamepad that came afterward and simultaneously.

I'm not going to say the Wii U is a bad console, it isn't, but with every system, it has flaws. The Gamepad is excellent ergonomicly, is comfortable and light. The touch screen is responsive too, Nintendo really should have went at least 720p for the screen resolution though. The technical woes are many, everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, requires a Nintendo Network account to use additional features, fine, 'you know what the problem is though, THE DARN THING WON'T CONNECT TO THE NETWORK!!! :fou: Then finally after three straight days of trying, it finally connects. Video Chat is full of glitches, it takes a long time to connect and it will sometimes just freeze up, then transfer you to the Home Menu, but when you do get it working, it's pretty good, the sound could use some tweaking but otherwise it's fine. The camera on the Gamepad is quite blurry it's like the camera on an average Cell Phone. MiiVerse isn't really as in-depth as a lot of social networks, it's not really made to have discussion or conversation, more of less, it's just a place to show off fan-art and ask questions (it's even worse that you can "yeah" or "un-yeah" a post a'la Facebook's "like" of "dislike" buttons). The eShop isn't that vast yet, but it's only launch. The Wii U isn't bad, but at this point it's really not a must-own console, and yes, I found the GameCube controller quite wierd, but it did work well.

Valid analogy actually, these things can be known just with the tiniest bit of research. Besides, Sergio's nails are probably longer than mine!

At first I wasn't liking the GameCube controller but now that I had more chances of using it, now I really like its ergonomy, including for the L/R buttons.
