This happens to DS handhelds. It happened to my old Lite and it's happened to my DSi too. I myself am always extremely careful with my gear, but it appears as if Nintendo purposefully built them flimsily. I guess it's the same mentality as with mobile phones these days: built to be replaced.Rayfist wrote:(-)3DS R trigger has stopped working for no reason, tried using air compressor but it still had not worked.

It's very odd... I've tooken absolutely wonderful care of my 3ds! Never dropped it once, always kept it in a case, not sure why this is occuring... hm...

Ah, so I am not the only one with this annoying problem.... I hope there is a way to fix it.Shrooblord wrote:This happens to DS handhelds. It happened to my old Lite and it's happened to my DSi too. Re: Pluses (+) and minuses (−) of this day.
You could try to take a look inside to see if the actual electronics have broken, if the spring has tired out or if something has snapped or bent out of its original position. Of course, opening the handheld will void the warranty, so you might just want to bring it to some store... then again, their doings would also void the warranty.Rayfist wrote:Ah, so I am not the only one with this annoying problem.... This reminds me of this project me and my friend Markarthian did a while back. My DSLite had died horribly, the wire connecting the two screens severed, but the hardware, for the rest, still intact and his console's screens and buttons had worn out. So I decided we could try to combine whatever was left of our machines into one so he could at least still play his. We opened up everything, salvaged what parts we could from the two devices and then mix-and-matched the plastic body frames so it'd look cool. My DS was a navy blue one (I love that shiny metallic colour it had) and his a white - we created a blue-and-white handheld with a white top and navy blue underpart, buttons alternatingly blue and black and a white-rimmed screen in the blue underpart. And thusly was born the fruit of our creation: the FrankenDS (as we named it). It still works up to this day and he's still very happy with it. It also gave me a lot of insight in how the machines work from the inside out and therefore gave me an idea about how stable (or unstable as the case may be) some of its components are. I know that the R and L buttons are tiny little receptors that are constantly poked by a sharp-ended spring when you use them, while the spring itself is a tiny, flimsy little thing. It is only logical that these are the first components to give way after usage. The spring may wear out, the button may erode, the plastic hinges might snap, the spring might become displaced... there's a lot of things that can go wrong with that component, specifically.
Anyway, a story and a half later, my message is: good luck with yours!

Quite an interesting story! It's amazing with the possibilities you can do.
Thanks much, it did started working for a bit, but eventually it turns to poo again, I guess designing L and R triggers just aren't Nintendo's thing.

@ Shroob and Sergio Thanks guys, I totally hate this. Sometimes I'm in good mood but there are a lot of moments lately that I suddenly feel depressed. Even by sleeping it doesn't fully work.

I feel sorry for all of you who are having actual serious troubles... good luck, guys.
Now, I have some first-world issues to adress to:
- My KONTAKT 5 is sitting there on the cupboard in the living room, but I can't get to it until Christmas! Arrrrghhhh!! My orchestra! So nearby yet just out of reach!

Ah, depressive attacks. I used to be affected by them for so long until I literally became bored of them. Now I'm just a bit wacko every so often.
Hahah, one of my friends' parents always do this. It's hilarious because he's like four feet tall.Shrooblord wrote:I feel sorry for all of you who are having actual serious troubles... good luck, guys.

- Phone SD Card was being an absolute arse.
- Had to reformat the darn thing to get it to behave
- Was only able to backup a small amount of data, due to annoying complications
+ Atleast SD Card should function correctly now.

+/- 12/12/12 is the last same-day-month-year combination we will see in the entire century.

Since you asked...
-/+ slowly crawling away from my own depression and anxiety cloud
- still can't get Christmas shopping done, not so much because of money but rather the fact that I have no idea on what people in my family like so then they end up wanting giftcards
+ giftcards are better than getting something you're just gonna bung in the drawer anyhow
+ Mother is very close to finishing all her cancer treatment! (has to take a med for 5 years though)
