Well, yeah... but If I remember, most of the fanbase have only watched Gen 10 and 11. A lot of people apparently came from nowhere. And yeah, I was a brony... I still think it's a good show, but I accept that 1. It is destined for little girls, it just doesn't treat them like retarded babies and that's perfect. 2. It doesn't have a deep plot or amazing character development like a lot of bronies say. The show is there just to be funny and have a decent story, that's it. 3. Lesbian pony shipping and pony porn are fucking sick.

Which season were you watching? I think the ones with David Tennant in them have the best acting so far, and not only from Tennant. The plots were better, deeper and eerier than they are now-a-days, but I still like the new series because Matt Smith's not at all bad. The jokes are a little more superficial, but they're still funny. The reason so many people are fans of Doctor Who, I think, is because not only the actor changes when they get a new Doctor. Most of the crew - or at least the attitude of that crew - will have changed and that takes the episodes' style in a completely different direction.

The Fires of Pompeii was a great episode. Not many episodes with Matt Smith have touched me like most episodes with Tennant did. I think the problem is that the Doctor doesn't show as much emotion or character as he did when Tennant fulfilled his role. And then there's the other seasons, of course, but that's another story.

---
I'm not trying to convince you it's good because you said you didn't think it was that great, but I'm just trying to point out why there may be so many fans - also because I am interested too.

OK...
This topic is derailing, but meh, not like there's anything else to discuss.

Personally, I prefer Smith's portrayal of the Doctor, while I like and still like Tennants portrayal of the character, Smith's is much more alien, and I like that, his Doctor is much more eccentric and out-of-touch than the 10th, and he still manages to portray a 1000 year old character pretty well despite his youth.

Granted, there are some eps which aren't very good, there are still some which are pretty amazing, The Doctor's Wife, for instance, was a rare one-of-a-kind episode which explored the relationship between the two oldest characters who've featured since day 1, and I liked the way it was handled.
I also liked Episode 2 of Series 5, "The Beast Below," it doesn't seem very special, but it is a rather heartfelt episode when it comes to the comparison with the Star Whale and the Doctor himself. I also liked the episode featuring the Dream Lord, only because it touches on the Doctor's darker side, and the revelation behind it is rather tragic.

Let us not forget that, Tennant's era did have it's share of bad eps as well, let us not forget "Fear Her" or the Dalek two-parter in Series 3. Though each Doctor has probably had his share of bad episodes.

Like Shroobie said, the show has a tendency to change its tone and direction as its team changes, this is, after all, a TV show with 33 seasons (26 seasons from 1963 - 1989, 7 series from 2005 - now).

I'm a brony and I never said the show had a deep plot or amazing character development.

Pony porn is for sick shits, but how is same gender shipping? I honestly don't see what's sick about that when it's just hugging or kissing or that stuff. Making them fuck on the other hand is the ugly stuff.

Let's continue the DW conversation in the appropriate thread. ;)

It's actually based off Rayman Origins, but it's in the Legends style, so why not. Look at the sheer beauty of it! :O
I love how simply most of it is set up, but it's been done with such intricate detail in shading that it looks really complicated.

That artwork is certainly a sight to behold, and definitely looks more like Legends' style than RO style.

I love the little chest sitting there in the background looking up nervously at Globox, wondering whether or not he's going to fly over and fall on him.

Yup, I watched an episode with Tennant, it was fine, certainly not epic, but fine.

And yup... back to Rayman.

I think that, going by the demo, they are slightly too generous with the Lums. I mean, seriously? I can finish with 400 Lums without even trying my hardest. Enemies giving 5 Lums on death is also overkill, but I guess that is to balance the Lum-scoring.

They're not being generous... Lums have a different purpose in this game. Instead of collecting 350 to gain 2 electoons, you use them to gain something else. Micholic (the "crazy ideas" guy) once said during an interview that they're used to unlock extra content... maybe characters? extra levels? minigames? who knows.

Okay, I didn't know that. Collecting that many Lums is nice and satisfying, but I still think that they could've went with a little less "inflation" :P

Collecting too many currency-objects can turn your action-packed platformer with collectables into a gotta-catch-em-all beat 'em up. It shifts the focus of the game in a completely different direction, but I guess collecting the big cash can give some people a satisfying feeling. Personally I think it's better to work hard to get the little Lums they give you than to work hard to get 'that extra 142 that remain'.

Yes, I think that is really nice about Rayman Origins. It's about single points, not hundreds or thousands of them like in most other games.

Or even Rayman 1 or 2; the Tings and Lums were numerous at times, but spread out and never more than a few tens of them. You can do far more tricks with them that way - putting them in a place where you want players to go to find out something is far more effective if you have to collect only 50 of them, than when you have to collect 1500. In the latter case, you're much more likely to go 'oh, there's another one, but it's in an annoying location so I won't get it' which is rather counterproductive to your intentions as a designer.

But anyway, too much hate on the new system, maybe? I don't know - I'll shut up now, k? ;)

They added a new attack for while your character is walking. That's really nice :)

They removed the swipe-to-air kick and replaced it with a retarded mini-crush attack. I'm not satisfied at all with the new moveset. :x
