Holy shit! I gotta try that.sergiomonty wrote:Announcement:
I just discovered that by playing the Wii version of Rayman Origins on Wii U, you get a perfectly beautiful version of the game, upscaled to 720p. It looks exactly like the Xbox 360/ PS3 versions, which is pretty awesome if we consider the price that I paid for the game.
This deserves another replay! I didn't have the pleasure to notice the small, beautiful details that I saw in the PC demo, just blurry backgrounds and characters with terrible resolution. Now it's my chance

Re: Rayman Origins
That makes no sense, stop making shit up. Firstly, upscaling to 720p is lower quality than running it natively in 720p, and secondly, the PS3 and 360 versions ran natively in 1080p.sergiomonty wrote:I just discovered that by playing the Wii version of Rayman Origins on Wii U, you get a perfectly beautiful version of the game, upscaled to 720p. I saw a wii-U comparison of the wii compatibility with the wii-U and the normal wii its self on youtube of course, and it all pretty much had the exact same graphics as the normal wii did. Pretty much nothing is changed here.

http://chrismcentee.com/downloadfiles/s ... cEntee.pdf"Rayman Origins’ Murfy system is similar in the sense that after five consecutive deaths in a single area, a character called Murfy will fly on screen and declare this area as dangerous, asking if the player would like to escape. By accepting his helping hand, the level is registered as complete, allowing the player to move on to the next if he wishes to do so. None of the collectibles are awarded, meaning the player must revisit the level if he wants to have anything he missed."
I never knew that you could skip a level if you wanted to.
The whole pdf is quite interesting at least to look trough if there's anything nice to know.
EDIT: At the very end of the document (after the references) there's also level maps for several levels he has designed.

Re: Rayman Origins
Huh, I definitely did not know that Murfy actually brought you toward the next level.
Re: Rayman Origins
Adsolution is right, Sergio. It isn't more your feeling? Because the Wii game isn't even in HD.

Re: Rayman Origins
It would be pretty neat though if Normal wii games could be upscaled to HD on the Wii-U.
It works with Dolphin Emulator after all.

Re: Rayman Origins
I read reviews where the reviewers were disappointed by the fact that the Wii emulation wasn't upscaling to HD format.

Guys... it's definitely 720p. I'm not making this up. The models look better. I tried it with globox to make sure that I wasn't imagining the whole thing... after all, Globox had the most awkward and square-ish zoom-ins after freeing the electoons, but nope, on the Wii U his outlines look perfect. Also, Wii U does upscale Wii games, it was confirmed long ago. It's not a myth to anyone at this point. If only I was able to take a screenshot and prove that what I'm saying is true...
(Ugh... this post took me like 5 or 6 edits, seriously, I had a lot to say)
ok, MAYBE I wasn't precise... but come on, 720 is still hd... The point is that it's upscaled and it looks freaking awesome.Adsolution wrote:1080p.

Show me those reviews... some reviews I read praised the Wii U for upscaling Wii games, and even said that games like Brawl look amazing, while other games like Skyward Sword look blurry. Even IGN tested the differences between the game being played on Wii and Wii UHaruka wrote:I read reviews where the reviewers were disappointed by the fact that the Wii emulation wasn't upscaling to HD format.

Are you sure? Maybe we are mistaken.
But from what I am viewing in this video nothing at all looks different?

Nor does making up facts.sergiomonty wrote:Making fun of anyone for no reason doesn't make you awesome, did you know, kid?
The Wii U actually does technically upscale Wii games to 720p, however it's very, very crude and hardly any better than the 480p Wii displays. Maybe it has a nice effect on Origins, maybe that just happens to be the case, but it is factually nowhere near the quality of the other consoles' resolution quality. Just comparing the two is ridiculous.
Re: Rayman Origins
I can't show them Sergio, those were in Portuguese magazines I read in my local hypermarket and didn't buy them.
