Re: Rayman M-Arena
Yeah, that definitely isn't right.
The background scenery is the exact same in the GameCube version as the others.
Re: Rayman M-Arena
OK, finished Rayman Arena for the first time. I like how in the end they say in the credits "No Baby Globox was harmed during the production of this game".
Pity the game isn't perfectly playable yet, there's still FPS lagging, sound bumps in cutscenes and the Rise and Shrine crash.

Re: Rayman M-Arena
From what I remember, Rayman Arena (for the ps2, at least) had issues with lag during the lum fights. It was only super noticeable when playing multiplayer, though.

Re: Rayman M-Arena
I never noticed any lag in the PS2 version of Rayman Arena in the lum fight.
Re: Rayman M-Arena
Rayman M suffered lag problems in Lum Fight mode too, particularly with the firework bullets. It was a pretty glitchy game all round actually.

Re: Rayman M-Arena
Uh, fireworks were the most impressive things rendered by RM. I was surprised they didn't cause lag on my old rusty PC. Turns out my PC was good at rendering them, I guess.
Re: Rayman M-Arena
I can say I don't feel any lag in the PC version of Rayman M, I guess its more a PS2 issue. It even had missing Lums and Popolopoï, its a sad thing.

Re: Rayman M-Arena
I've never had any notable glitches or problems with my PC game either. The only thing that annoys me is that it's incapable of listening to messages coming from the Xbox's right analog stick, making camera control a pain for players with the controller.

In Rayman Rush the back of the case says you can unlock skins.
I've completed each challenge and didn't unlock a single skin on Rayman Rush.
How do you unlock skins?

There are none.Raymanarenaps2 wrote:In Rayman Rush the back of the case says you can unlock skins.

Re: Rayman M-Arena
There are no skins, its probably a mistake from the PS1 port. Afterall its a game that for some reason you can't get 100% in the save file.

Re: Rayman M-Arena
I find it weird that it says ou can aern skins on the back of the case that came with the game but it doesn't have any.
Maybe there is another way to earn skins other then beating the challenges?

Did you read what I said before? If you are that sceptical I invite you to see my walkthrough, or the walkthrough of everybody else or even trying it yourself.Raymanarenaps2 wrote:I find it weird that it says ou can aern skins on the back of the case that came with the game but it doesn't have any.

Re: Rayman M-Arena
I can vouch for Haruka there as well, I completed literally everything in Rush but never unlocked any skins of any sort.
Anyways, after a couple of years I've finally managed to find an ISO for Rayman Arena that works (Mostly, the music keeps on cutting out for some reason), and I don't know if it's just because of my attachment to M or something, but the gameplay feels a bit... Off in places. I can't really put my finger on it, it just feels a bit strange.
Though it's quite interesting to see that the entirety of the Factory music was omitted from Arena in favour of another set of music for it. And then there's things like Globox's music being redone, new skins, etc.
Did we ever find out why Ubisoft decided to change the game up for the GC/Xbox releases? I'd be rather interested in hearing about that.

Re: Rayman M-Arena
I don't know the real reasons but we all know the reason for Rayman Arena not being named Rayman M in the North America. The Americans thought that "M" standed for "Mature". Which has got all its logical, right
? ESRB is there for decoration I believe.

Ah yes, I do know that. I guess Publisher reasoning is something that we may never be able to understand fully.Haruka wrote:I don't know the real reasons but we all know the reason for Rayman Arena not being named Rayman M in the North America. I've never really understood why the US ESRB isn't done with numerical age ratings, like the UKs is. Seems a lot simpler to have the rating just be 7+, or 12+, or whatever, rather than Child, or Teen, or Mature rating, or etc.

Yes, except not. Americans feel alright measuring flour in cups, having one-dimensional control of water in showers and paying for incoming SMSes. They're different people with different perception of some things. Oh, and they also introuced measuring clothes with letters.

Re: Rayman M-Arena
Maybe because back in the Rayman 1, 2, M/Arena era, they did that with all their Rayman games? We might as well now start asking why the Dreamcast version of Rayman 2 is different from the N64 version, or why the Saturn version of Rayman 1 is different from the PC.The Edditaur wrote:Did we ever find out why Ubisoft decided to change the game up for the GC/Xbox releases? I personally never understood why Sony uses shapes to designate their buttons; saying 'Tri-an-gle,' a three syllable word seems a bit bloated for a button name; and here I've seen people give the argument that letters are infinitely more confusing than shapes (which makes no sense), but nevermind that. I see the benefits of a letter rating too. To know what age rating a game has, you either see a bit bold E, T or M; it's a lot more eyecatching than looking at a three-digit (16+) number rating. The Edditaur wrote:I've never really understood why the US ESRB isn't done with numerical age ratings, like the UKs is. It is logical indeed, and no, no Americans (except maybe a small amount of really stupid people) would think that. They most likely changed it to avoid the possibility of any sort of confrontation, not because people were confronting them, which they weren't. It's for the same reason instruction manuals always tell to consult your doctor if you feel ill from playing - they don't want to be liable.Haruka wrote:The Americans thought that "M" standed for "Mature". Besides, has anyone else ever figured that the name 'Rayman Arena' sounds far better anyway?
Re: Rayman M-Arena
Rayman M is in short for Rayman Multiplayer but it pretty much describes the multiplayer gameplay that the game is designed for both races and battles. Rayman Arena makes more sense to be for battles but not races.
