Re: Rayman 3
I never beated Rayhman 3 gba o-o
Re: Rayman 3
I'm gonna start playing R3 GBA after I beat RRR GBA.
Re: Rayman 3
I feel pretty stupid for not knowing R3 gba wasn't just some shitty port of HH until years after it came out. I really ought to get around to buying and playing it some time.

Re: Rayman 3
IMHO, I think Rayman 3 GBA should really be called Rayman 2.5, it's more of a continuation of Rayman 2.
Though I'm curious, who here takes Rayman 3 GBA to be canon?

Re: Rayman 3
In this case, Rayman Hoodlums revenge should be called rayman 3.5.

Re: Rayman 3
It probably should.
Re: Rayman 3
I don't consider the GBA games as canon, but the truth is I both use the GBA games as fanfic chapters.

Re: Rayman 3
Raving Rabbids on gba is still better than the original.

Re: Rayman 3
I disagree... I mean, yeah, the Rabbid series suck and all that... but the first one was pretty decent, it tried to do something different (that later would suck a lot). The GBA game is like a forced platformer with poor level design, zero difficulty and a lot of reused sprites-sound effects. In my opinion, it doesn't have the soul of previous 2d Rayman games.Raven_Guardian wrote:Raving Rabbids on gba is still better than the original.
Re: Rayman 3
At least the GBA game has a bigger approach to the canceled Rayman 4, even if it recycled sprites and feels a bit rushed (the game doesn't even have a proper ending or credits roll).
Re: Rayman 3
Rayman 3 for the GBA was OK. I'm not saying it's bad, but not perfect either. The racing levels were meh and the climbing level in The Cave of Bad Dreams is possibly the most boring thing I've ever done in a game. On the other hand levels like the hoodlum hideouts were really good.
Hey, it could be worse. In Despicable Me: The Game the game ends by you crashing into an unavoidable object and then a game over screen, and after that you somehow beat it.Haruka wrote:At least the GBA game has a bigger approach to the canceled Rayman 4, even if it recycled sprites and feels a bit rushed (the game doesn't even have a proper ending or credits roll).

Nor does the console version of Rayman Raving Rabbids.sergiomonty wrote:In my opinion, it doesn't have the soul of previous 2d Rayman games.
Like the console version, the GBA version feels badly made and riddled with bugs, but unlike the console version, this game is still a Rayman game.
Many of the worlds feel like a return to Rayman 1's universe - and I would even go as far as to call some worlds better designed overally than the worlds in Rayman 1 - if they had continued to optimize it. The dessert world, for instance, has a better colour use and atmosphere than Candy Chateau in my opinion. I can say the same for the toy world and Picture City.
Some details are also pretty nicely done, like the storm in the hub world gradually clearing during the course of the game.
I also like it because it was built from the original idea of the game - the 3D platformer that would have been Rayman 4. I still don't get how they could prefer a soulless minigame collection over what they were making there.
Honestly, I prefer RRR GBA over Rayman Raving Rabbids and even Rayman Origins. If only they had optimized the game more and instead of rushing it, put more work into it, I would maybe even prefer it over Rayman 1. Maybe.
Re: Rayman 3
Sadly the release dates were in first place, so here's what we got.

Re: Rayman 3
While we're discussing the 2D versions of RRR, has anyone played the DS version?
Re: Rayman 3
I own the RRR1 and RRR2 for the DS, but I never played the third.
I think I wrote an opinion back in the RRR topic.

Re: Rayman 3
I used to own RRR1 on ds but apparently I didn't even remotely like it because I traded it in to get a different game somewhere down the road. Everything that had to do with RRR was... sub par to say the least.
Also, I'd like to assume that R3 gba was far less buggy than RRR gba?

Re: Rayman 3
Much less glitchy, not to mention its the best portable Rayman game available.
Re: Rayman 3
That's great to hear! I can't wait to finally get it in that case.
